Nuala version 3.6: back to the quest book

I've been on NF for quite a while now and thus, I have quite a few quests on hold. Considering that the challenge starts on a not that important but still noticeable date for me, it's time to get back to what my younger self wanted to achieve. Boring presentation incoming :D

Quest #1: the pistol squat.

internet-kitten-hug-radiator2.jpg

Yeah, that's probably as close I can be from a squat

This quest was started during my second challenge. I was still young and a bit of a dreamer and I wanted to be able to do 5 pistol squats by the end of the six weeks.

Fitness goal#2: Pistol squats *5. I know it's a lot but I really need to work my legs much more. My first challenge made me focus mostly on my arms, that needs to change.

:D

So obviously, I'm still nowhere close to the pistol squats, my legs are still weak and my ankles still inflexible. Now I'm old and wiser, so let's do it again.

Goal #1: Squats!

I may be almost done with the Squat PVP, but, even if I hate it, I will do it again for the whole challenge. For now I have my heels supported by a pillow, hopefully by the end of the 6 weeks I'll have some improvement!

So, here it is! 30 minutes of squats every day. Obviously working on ankles flexibility would be nowhere than enough. So... even if I really don't want to because I don't like leg work... I'll add some Bulgarian split squat in my training, 3 times a week.

Quest #2: doing the splits!

Corgi has flexible hips, mine are not

This quest started on my third challenge. While I have seen some progress in my flexibility, I'm still nowhere close to the splits, and even worse, I lose a bit of my aquired flexibility because I stopped stretching at the gym! Now, I'm older and hopefully less stupid, so it's time to work on flexibility again!

Fitness goal #3: Split!
I have always dreamed of being flexible but even at my best (I was 8 :tongue:) I could never do a front split. Not even close. For this challenge I will follow this routine: http://www.unique-bodyweight-exercises.com/splits.html that will hopefully get me closer to my goal.
This goal will be separated in several chunks:
- Every Sunday/Monday: I will write the program of the week so that it will be easier for me to follow. The website is kinda verbose and my English not that good.
- Follow the program closely. No excuse.
- Go as closer as a front split as possible
Grade A: Doing all of above [DEX +3, CON +1]

Goal #2: Focused flexibility: splits

A bit of change compared to my first entry in my quest book. Considering that FF has a split training as well, I will use it instead :tongue: FF require a daily training for 2 weeks then 3 training a week for 4 weeks.

Quest #3: Vanité, vanité tout n'est que vanité

Goal #3: Pull the bar up!

Staying at home, I will be allowed to use my pull-up bar more. Well, I have to admit that it was a little neglected recently. So, my goal will be something like:

Pull-up: 6 -> 10

L-sit pull-ups: 0 -> 5

Chin-up: 4 -> 10

Hanging leg raise: progression to hanging leg circle

Skin the cat: 1 -> 30 seconds

Will detail it more after a few tests.

My sixth challenge was about playing with the pull-up bar, including hanging leg raises. I have a pullup bar but my hanging leg raises are... not really high.

Goal #3: Hanging leg raises

Train them 3 times a week

Life goal: Be Excellent!

I use spreadsheets a lot for the guild, but truth to be said, I utterly suck at using them. Learning how to use formulas would save me a lot of time every end of challenges.

I had the same pistol squat goal in my first or second challenge, too..  And the results were about the same as yours.  :nevreness:

Not that I'm trying to advocate poor form or anything on the pistol squats, but doing one legged squats while on your toe/ball of the foot is more useful for climbing than doing the flat footed, driving-from-the-heels type.  At least I've actually been in positions where I'm toeing into a hold and kind of sitting on my heel, and then need to push up, but I have yet to be in one where I'm completely flat footed on a hold.  And it helps get around any ankle inflexibility issues.  Just saying....  ;)

Great goals! Pistol squats are so hard! I don't have the flexibility for ass to grass nor the flexibility to get the other leg high and straight!

Nodding head, yep pistol squats was one of my 6 week goals too.Still working on it. We were so young and naive back then :rapture: I'm doing the mobility squats too, and have the same feeling about them as you do.

The cake turned well (beetroot chocolate cake), most of it disappeared in my BF's belly, I had to fight him so that there would be leftover for the bento boxes. I didn't made any cakes for today, today is my "I do whatever I want, day and I decided it would be beer and cured meat day" with a bit of climbing too.

Climbing was fun, I have kinda mastered the V2 on the slab with lot of balance and also a almost pistol squat move :D I was too weak to do it last week, got some DOMS for days because I tried anyway and now I'm strong enough to pass it. Well, I already described my diet, and I don't even kid. The only non-meat thing I ate today was half an apple >_> But I don't care, because, reasons!

I'll be a non-sulking grown-up tomorrow, today I just wanna be a brat.

Hey Nuala,

I found your check-ins to my challenge really helpful last time, so I'm here to return the favor :) You go get those pistol squats!
