Sorry for the long absence.  Between lots of overtime at work, the kids starting school, mechanical problems with my van, and family issues I've just been too swamped to care about the internet.

 

Lifting is going well.  I'm avoiding testing any maxes for a while, trying to make the most of my workouts for development rather than trying to stroke my own ego.  After playing with increased volume and finding it detrimental to my recovery ability I'm sticking with my staple workouts, good old progressive sets.  The only difference is that I'm trying to add reps to those weights each set, which is proving effective.  I'm finding this more efficient than rep goals or maxing out all the time.  I still feel like a pussy but I'm progressing.  I can pull 405 for three reps and press 175 for three reps again, which isn't anything to dance about but it's better than I was for a while.

 

Things are going well, kids are doing well in school, job is going well.  Even though I've had some rough patches life in general is good and looking up.  Still working on my depression issues but I think adjusting to my schedule, tweaking my dosages, and having less stress in general is doing me wonders.

 

Oh!  Also built the wife a compost bin for the back yard.  She's all excited to teach the kids environmentalism.  Wewt!  More to come!

Lmfao. I love this turn NF has taken recently with videos. SS & Marissa doing vlogs about their meets. And now this calling each other out before a gym session. Lol reminds me of rap battles of the early 90s and 2000s....or Katy Perry vs Taylor Swift (probably more accurate).

My pants are all still falling off me so I know I'm not getting any fatter. I know that when my work pants stop being loose I've gained fat, it's a pretty handy measuring stick to have.

I do the same thing, except it's on how tight they're getting and if I'm hulking out of them when I squat.

I've gotten back on my 18:6 IF schedule since I've started hitting the lifts harder just to keep myself from getting much fatter, and I'm inadvertently losing weight doing so. Almost all of my pants are falling off of me now.

Sorry for not posting at all. Lots of overtime, lots of kids in school, lots of diseases going through the house, etc.

So I worked out in a gym for the first time in forever today. My buddy at work for a membership and I'm going a few trial with him. Not gonna lie, this gym sucks. But I've been bit by the big and I know of a much better gym down the street from me that I will probably be joining.

Not the best workout but not bad for how long I've been out of the gym. Here are the highlights:

Bench press: 245x1

Deadlift: 455x1

OHP: 185x1

Push Press: 225x1

I will probably be in a gym the our four days a week now. Well see. More to come!

I could have done a little heavier on the bench and the push, but I didn't want to go too far my first day back.

By the way...not sure if you thought about it, but why haven't you looking into strongman before.

 

The hitchy deadlift screams strongman and all the pressing you do lends itself to it as well.

 

Throw in the fact that I could see you doing DIY shit, you should definitely go strongman.

Thanks! I've thought about it, but my wife isn't too keen on the idea, and honestly my training is so inconsistent with my schedule that I don't I could really give it a fair shot. I'm sure it would be fun, but I just don't see myself having the time.

Benched 265. Attempted 275 but failed. Pulled 445 and push pressed 215. All this after a 12 hours shift. Feels decent. When I have more time to lift I will attempt some squats. More to come!
