Unsure where and what to do, she gave a try to a couple of challenges, to get the hang of it. Enriched of her new confidence, she felt it was finaly her turn to live the adventure of a lifetime. Full of discovery, trials, new encounters, and who knows what else.Edigo set out to prepare what she thought she would need to leave her comfort zone. In her bag, she packed a change of clothes, knowing it’s important to dress for battle. A journal, to keep track of her thoughts and progress. Books to read on her breaks from travelling, which included a novel to relax, and a self-help book to progress. She also took a few potions, just in case : coffee(stamina), discipline, adaptability & motivation(mana).In her pocket in front of her heart, she installed her sweet little pixie, Munchkin, her greatest teacher. Munchkin had many lessons to teach, and even more ways to do so. His favorite magical attack, “play with meâ€, helped Edigo to discover life with new eyes and live in the moment. The most powerfull and somewhat annoying, “pushing mommys buttonsâ€, worked really well to teach patience, amongst other things. She couldn’t think to leave on a journey without Munchkin as a travel companion.For support, she knew she could always rely on her sturdy walking stick, “The boyfriendâ€. It was a magical stick that could give advice, encouragement, and the oh so needed kick in the butt once in a while.Not sure if she was ready, but not wanting to lose any time, she laced her good walking shoes, put on her cape, and went out the door.After walking for a few days, she reached a fork in the road. “oh no, she said. My plan only got me this far. What road should I go now ?â€. She sat for a while on a rock, and used one of her skills “meditateâ€. After settling in a comfortable position, she went into her inner peace realm, breathing in life’s energy. She stayed there, until all doubt and fear left her, replace by a calm certainty that the universe would send her guidance. She then opened her eyes, and he intuition was telling her to go back to the inn she just passed on the way here. Edigo walked back with a gentle smile on her face, her heart light and free, because she knew her intuition was never wrong.The Inn was a small place, cosy, with a dinner room and bar, and some rooms upstairs to rest. She walked to the bar, asked for refreshments, and turned back to go sit and enjoy a well deserved hot meal. It was a busy day for the Inn, it was packed with people. The only spot left was at a round table surrounded by a group of six people. She took a deep breath, mustered up some courage, and walked straight to the table to ask if she could sit with them. The group paused to look at her and the leader gave her a nod of approval.So she sat to eat, eavesdropping on their conversation while observing them. She learned they were a group of mercenaries on their way back home after a mission. They all had specialties: there was a warrior, a scout, a ranger, an assassin, a druid, and a monk. She got curious, and began asking questions of what it was like to go on missions, to train and to learn skills.The leader proposed something she never expected. He offered her to tag along, so she could get a taste of adventure, and speak with each member to learn about their skills. She immediately agreed.Impressed by the warrior’s strength, she sought council from him to learn how to build a few basic muscles. He advises her to start by 2-3 workouts a week, of about 30 minutes each, improving reps or weight every week. He took time to show her the moves and checked her form and he was always available for questions.Going back to their home required a lot of walking. She mostly walked with the scout at first, but he couldn’t stand still and walking was too slow for him, so he was always running ahead and back to open the path. She couldn’t follow, but she admired his endurance. This is when the ranger tagged alongside her to give her some tips. She felt comfortable with the ranger, as she felt the skills she was starting to practice we similar. It was the beginning of a new friendship.The whole team was eating whatever they could hunt and gather along the way, stopping for an occasional meal at a tavern while passing through various towns. She felt good eating this way, it was a way of living she loved and wanted to implement it more and more into her life.Another lesson she learned, was the importance of resting when you could, to be able to go to battle as soon as it presented itself. Otherwise, you are not a good mercenary, and it could make the difference between life and death.So it was Edigo’s first real adventure!Mindset for this challenge: “You can do anything, but not everythingâ€GOAL: My health my priority everyday, (and to avoid getting sick this year) 1) Food : bring a lunch for 2, me and BF 2) Bedtime : work toward a 10 pm bedtime Do yoga nidra as necessary to transition the hour change.- week 1: 11 pm max every day- week 2: 10h45- week 3: 10h30- week 4: 10h15- week 5: 10h00- week 6: continue 10h or reach 9h45 3) Morning routine- sadhana 20-30 min (strech spine, strech legs 3 ways, 5 min meditation)- treatments (pulmozime and antiobiotic)- sinus rince- prepare lunches for 2- breakfast for everyone 4) night routine- bross and floss- wash face- sinus rince- prepare next day's clothes- wash dishes- pick up 5 min 5) walk more- go out every break at work, when temperature allows- walk 1-2 times a week with my daycare provider. we want to start running together, and we will start by including walks in our weekly routines. This would be tuesday and thursday night, for about 30 min. this will vary depending on both our schedules, but this is the idea. Edigo Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 24, 2014 So i decided this sunday was my first day.Sunday1) no wight train but i walked 30 min, and i went to the "magic mountain" with my son, at a climbing facility and it gave me a cardio workout running after him in the module . CHECK2) shop and prep CHECK grocery was saturday, we stuck to our list for the most part, not too much junk. Sunday i prepped 1 recipe for my breakfast, but failed... Undercooked eggs are gross... Bleh. I planned meals: 2 chicken salad recipe for my lunches. As a family we will eat: sausage, homemade spring rolls, kao lung (rice chicken soup), possibly a steak. We have meat and veggies for 2 weeks and a couple prep meals in the freezer for back up. We will improvise the rest.3) lunch for 2:CHECK we have leftovers for mondays lunch4)bedtime: i was ready at around 9h45, went to bed at10h, but read a little so ended up sleeping at 10h15. Work in progress.CHECK AT 80%5) routines: morning routine half done, i didn't do my sadhana. Night routine done. Lack of routine does that to a person. I need to work on those types of days when nothing goes as expected. I will think on that and come up with a plan 2) lunche for 2 : donemy boyfriend has his, and i will eat the same leftover at home with munchkin, if he eats at all 3) sleep : failed, badlyi could have gone to bed at 10, but i somehow justified myself some unreasonable gaming until midnight because i ''desirved it'' after taking care of munchkin the whole day. wrong. a little gaming is welcome but that was way too much. i really lose controll of this easily. Or even use the parental controls on your pc, and block out time that you know you shouldn't be on. That will shut you off regardless of what you are doing. No good for saving data though. Edigo Posted February 27, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 27, 2014 Tuesday:1) exercise : i did me 1h30 hour of yoga, i decided this counts in my goal CHECK2) lunch for 2: CHECK3) sleep: went to bed around midnight FAIL4) routine: all done but in episodes instead of a routine. Still did it though CHECKWEDNESDAY1) FAIL it was snowy, windy,cold and slippery so no walking at work. Hopefully Thursday will be alright.2) lunch for 2 CHECK3) sleep: FAIL ... Again ... 11h304) routine at 80% sincei dond't do the sadhana in the morning, because i was so tired i snoozed my alarm. Wednesday was a bad day. Super tired, almost fell asleep on the wheel when i reached the daycare, and this brought on grumpy mommy mode. The munchkin attacked with "lets get attention by doing everything wrong" and i lost patience on every occasion. Not proud. Munchkin even said to me "change your face mommy".... Hello wake up call! But i was so immersed in my bad feeling and wanting to be alone in my bubble that i couldn't shake it off. So i spent a bad time with munchkin, and him with me, and it's completely my fault. I hate it when i do this to him. This is completely because of lack of sleep. Alright, i needed some tweeking on the sleeping goal. It's not working out. For so e reason it's really hard to go to bed at 10 pm at the moment for different reasons, most of them being excuses, but i want this to work and i want to give myself a chance, so i changed it up a bit. I will work towards 10pm bedtime with 15 min increments. This. Week is 11pm, and every week will be 15 min earlier. That way i might trick myself into it instead of fighting against my laziness that hard.I need to tell myself this i a work in progress and a step in the right direction. I aim at consistency right? Totally missed the afternoon break, when i realized what time it was the day was almost overt. 2) lunch for 2: CHECK i love that we will be saving money just doing this every week. We might eat out occasionnaly, but because we want to, consciously, instead of lack of preparation 3) bed time CHECK : went to bed around 10h30.... funny how making it 11 pm sudenly makes 10h30 seem easy, ha 4) routine : CHECK- morning : i snoozed 30 mins, so i missed my sadhana, but i will do it this evening as my back hurts and this is just what it needs.- Night : did it ! CHECK My mood is definetly better today, my attitude toward my son as well. We will have some fun before bed time for sure ! I was thinking about my night routine.I think doing everything at once is too difficult, but spreading it out during the evening works for me. Like dishes after supper, washing face and brosh teeth while giving my son his bath, mentally thinking of the next day's outfit instead of actually taking it out. And picking up somewhere along the way. As long as all these things get done in a day i'm satisfied. i installed and prepped Habit rpg, really cool. My reward is playing 30 min of ni no kuni. Yeah, i realize with NF challenges that smaller increments work best for me. Baby steps ! I know where i want to go, and i know it can be overwhelming, but a 5 min here and there seems like almost nothing, yet it's still a step in the right direction. And i think being flexible about it all and allowing myself to tweak things, as long as the idea / goal behing it doesn't change, is key. I'd rather succeed at something small than bang my head in discouragment and guiltyness over failing.
