Also, I totally went for a "run" today! I did the first C25k session. It was wicked slushy outside, but I got it done... In a tank top no less, it was so beautiful out.

Good job on the running. It's such a feeling of accomplishment when you are done isn't it?

How was the beef heart? My brother and his gf took us to a Peruvian/Argentinian place a couple of months ago and it was excellent. The ceviche was spot on.

Looking out for the weekly wrap.

The beef heart was really tasty - a little too salty for my liking, but nice and tender. Even my unadventurous companions agreed that it was good - and thanked me for not giving into their whining for donairs :P I wanted to try the ceviche, but I could only eat so much!

Thanks! They look better in real life :P Haha I told you I'd jump on the running bandwagon eventually, that's just the kind of gal I am. I won't say that I liked it, but it didn't kill me. And I didn't totally hate it either.

 

 

 

OH! ANNDNDNNDND (<--sorry, that was me spazzing the eff out) GUESS WHAT!!!? I am officially  in the 140s! Just barely, but still, I am loving that "4". As you can probably tell from that success, my weekend eating was totally on point. :D

 

Sunday:

Breakfast: Leftover ribs. (Totally compliant!) Mmm breakfast of champions.

 

Lunch: More ribs. Plus carrots and mayo.

 

Dinner: "Butter Chicken" - Dairy free! I used up the last of my ghee for this one. And it was chock full of veggies - rutabaga, cauliflower, carrots and onions.

Gutting the Dragon:

GOAL: Up to one TBSP of non-compliant ingredients per day (Stuff like honey in dressing/marinades, soy sauce with sushi, a sprinkle of cheese on a salad, or using a commercial condiment) 

 

GOAL: 2-3 non-compliant meal components per week (aiming for two most weeks) This does not mean a whole meal of crap. This means a small portion along with good veggies and meat. Stuff like a side of rice or beans, a couple bites of dessert, maybe a small latte, sharing a appetizer. Portion control is key here. 

 

(A) Much winning! Wednesday night saw a slightly extravagant dinner worth 2 NC meal component tickets, and while I may have been just barely over the 1 TBSP limit one day, I more than made up for it by being 100% compliant on a couple days.

 

Skinning the Dragon:

GOAL: 3 workouts per week

Kettlebells Mon/Wed, Cardio: Sat

 

(A) I did miss one kettlebell class because we were out of town, but I made up for it with a Jillian Michael's video (yoga meltdown 1) and a 3km walk. Plus I "ran" on Sunday!? Apparently that's something I do now :P

 

 

Burying the heart: (+2WIS, +1DEX)

GOAL: Meditate 6 times per week

MODIFIER  Weeks 1&2: 1/6 in the morning

                   Weeks 3&4: 2/6 in the morning

                   Weeks 5&6: 3/6 in the morning

 

(A ) 6 sessions, one morning.

 

 

Making Dragon Hide Armor: (+1WIS, +1CHA)

1. Make 6 t-shirts, of 3 different designs. (We have a vinyl cutter and a heat press, which is what I'll be using to do this.)

2. Make a jewelry display/holder (I've done one already, I'll upload a pic to show what I mean when I get a chance)

3. Finish at least one painting that can be made into prints.

4. Make ticket stub holder. (Shadow box, with slot in the top, and vinyl design on front.)

 

Um...I have been really busy with the business, but not with these particular aspects.. So, while it's still a "no progress' status, I don't really feel bad.

 

 

BONUS LIFE QUEST: (+1WIS)

Pay off federal student loan. ($220/wk)

 

(A) $220 paid off! I now only need to put >$200 on it each week :)

 

 

 

So, much better week than Week One! Yay for getting back on track - obviously I need to get going on the creative stuff, but seriously I haven't had time. Now my dad's play is over, and the radio shirts are done, things should open up a bit, free-time wise. Onward and upward to week three!

So, kettlebells last night did not go very well. I don't know what's wrong with me, if maybe I'm getting sick, or I'm just run down from being so obnoxiously busy lately, or who knows, maybe I'm not eating enough carbs,  but giving it everything did not get me very far - I felt like I was going to pass out about 20 minutes into the class, and it just didn't get any better. I stayed for the whole class, but sat out the last 15 mins or so. :( Not good.

 

And then I woke up in the middle of the night, and couldn't get back to sleep, which is extremely unusual for me. Coupled with the time change, I just feel completely discombobulated lately.

 

Food was good yesterday though aside from missing breakfast - work was crazy busy all morning, and I just didn't get a chance. 

 

Lunch: Leftover "butter chicken" and veggies, carrots with mayo.

 

Snack: Pepperoni stick

 

Dinner: 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs scrambled with spinach and green onions, and 1/2TBSP goat cheese, and a side of roasted golden beets and half an orange pepper.

 

 

I'm still debating the possibility of going home  - I'm not "sick" sick, but I've been feeling exhausted for about a week now, and I'm just not sure if I'm ever going to catch up at this rate!

If you can swing the time, going home and resting might just be what you need. If it's the time change, you're totally not the only one - it seems like everyone is dragging ass this week. I know I am (though I think that's because I've slept like crap the last two nights). 

 

Did you put the recipe up for "butter chicken"? It sounds fantabulous and like something I need in my life. Also on the need list: golden beets. You just reminded me I saw a great looking kale/golden beet salad at Whole Foods this weekend I was thinking about riffing on. 

 

That is the poo about kettelbells, but at least you hung in there and finished. They can't all be PR setting sessions.

I can rarely find golden beets, but I like them a lot better than the usual kind- I spotting a bag of them at Costco last week, and was so excited :)

 

I will post the "butter chicken" recipe on the Whole30 thread, since it's compliant.

 

I think I'm going to go home at lunch - I'm just about caught up at work, and I just feel like I need more sleep so badly. Lame-sauce.

Well, I did go home at lunch yesterday, and had a two and a half hour nap. And then I ate a big bowl of rice! I was looking at my food over the past week, and it had definitely been way low on carbs, 30-70g a day. So I decided a refeed might be in order. I definitely used up my nc cards yesterday, but I think it was justified. And now I HAVE to stay on track when we go out of town this weekend.

And i feel like a new girl today. I got up with my husband for the first time in a week, instead of sleeping in an extra 45 mins. I don't feel like I need to mainline coffee...

Yesterday:

Breakfast: Bagel breakfast sandwich...yeah, this is my decision making when I feel like crap :( it was delicious though.

Lunch : rice. With salsa, guac and onions.

Dinner: Red cabbage, hot italian sausage, and a little of the leftover rice.

Snack: pineapple and lime club soda

Kettlebell class tonight will be the real litmus test, but I have a feeling it's going to go better. I shall report in afterward!

Kettlebells were MUCH better - I'm so relieved at how much better I'm feeling. I did get a tiny bit light headed, but it wasn't anything near like monday. I actually got a good workout, and made it through the whole thing. I didn't push it, weight wise, but i didn't back off either - mostly 8kg, some 10s, mostly doubles.

I made sure I ate plenty today in preparation as well.

Breakfast: Cabbage, rice and egg scramble

Lunch: leftover italian sausage and cabbage

Snack: 2 HB eggs with mayo

Dinner: ground beef sauteed with spinach and the last of the cabbage.

Haha okay so I had a LOT of cabbage today! No regrets, I love that lowly vegetable so. :D

Food yesterday was good:

Dinner: Bacon/apple chicken salad with avocado, asian-style coleslaw <-- this meal was amazing! The hubs wasn't too into the coleslaw, but I thought it was really good  - Evoo, almond butter, sesame oil, coconut aminos, honey, lime juice, garlic, ginger and onion powder. And so the cabbage consumption continues... Funny how these obsessions come and go, eh? I wonder when I'll get sick of it?! lol

 

 

Meditation last night was done. And we got another job last night - repeat customer! Just to make a real estate sign, but still, I'm pleased. Things seem to be picking up a little bit :)

Well, for the third time in as many weeks, I had to navigate the eating-out situation, and it just keeps getting better :)

 

This weekend, we went to West Edmonton Mall for a friend's birthday. (I'm not really sure how well it's known outside of Canada, but it was once the world's largest mall - it's half consumer shrine and half theme park *eye roll* ) It was an interesting time, to say the least! (The birthday girl's boyfriend passed out at dinner, and had to be returned to the hotel, then the comedy show we were supposed to go to got cancelled due to a burst pipe.. and just when the evening was starting to feel cursed, another friend won $1000 at the casino! Crazy stuff.)

 

Anyways, we got there around 1pm, and walked around the mall for a while. It was crazy busy and hot and awful, and within a couple hours we gave up and met the boys back at a pub. By the time we got there, I felt like I was going to pass out, so I had a couple swigs of hubby's beer while I was waiting for water to arrive, and a couple pieces of calamari. That was the worst of it though. (I also snagged all the raw bell peppers off of someone else's platter, as they were definitely going to go to waste!) 

 

We went out for dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory (obviously, not my choice) but actually turned out great - I got a Mediterranean Salad with grilled chicken, and it was shockingly good for a place that served 90% pasta. Pecans in greek salad is a revelation, I'm going to have to try that one at home. 

 

So basically, we went to the pub twice, out for dinner, briefly to the comedy club before they told us it was cancelled, and then to another lounge all in the same day. And aside from the small amount of beer, I didn't have anything to drink (I was slightly tempted, just because that's all everyone was doing all day! But I knew there was really no point, And also, I felt excellent about my decision when everyone was looking all bleary-eyed at breakfast the next morning)

 

Speaking of breakfast, we went to Denny's, and I had a skillet - with no cheese, and I picked out the potatoes. So it was just chicken, eggs, veggies and avocado. Definitely a best case scenario, considering the location. 

 

 

Adding in all the walking that we did, plus the fact that since I behaved myself, I felt energetic enough to get my "run" in once we got home (yeah, I did!) I think it was wildly successful for an overnight trip out of town. :D

(B ) Although it wasn't quite perfect, I'm actually pretty happy with how this week went food-wise. It was reasonable. I should probably tighten things up a smidge while I'm still trying to lose weight, but there was some good balance going on here. I had a fair amount of rice along with a bagel early in the week when I was feeling run down, and I had a little beer and calamari and a fry or three on the weekend.

Blergh. Again, I've been doing LOTS of stuff, but nothing on this list. Actually, I was working on a painting last night that could be made into a print, so I guess that's good. I've got some ground to make up here! I have 2 different designs I want to try out though, I just need to get it done.

(A) $150 paid off this week A little light, because I wasn't sure how expensive our weekend was going to be, but it ended up being cheaper than I budgeted for, so I'm not worried about making this up. Plus, I put myself ahead, so I don't think I'm actually behind on this goal altogether.

 

 

Well, As and Bs, so not a bad week! I'm going to tighten the reins on the food situation this week, make sure I meditate in the morning (I'm actually alone in the office for the next two weeks *wahhh! I'm going to go effing crazy* but there's no reason I can't do this at work, aside from the possibility of being interrupted by the phone) and I am COMMITTING right now that I am going to produce at least ONE non-commissioned saleable item this week! Straight As are totally a thing that is going to happen.

Reporting in!

 

Sunday:

Breakfast: Denny's skillet (-cheese, -potatoes) chicken, avocado, veggies, eggs.

 

Lunch: 2HB eggs, roasted red pepper, pepperoni stick

 

Dinner: Crispy chicken thighs with cherry BBQ sauce, green beans.

 

Snack: Pineapple club soda

 

 

Yesterday:

Breakfast: 1HB egg, 1 pepperoni stick

 

Lunch:  Leftover chicken thighs, green beans, and half an avocado.

 

Snack: 2HB eggs w/ mayo

 

Dinner: Bolognese sauce. Yup, just a big old bowl of pasta sauce with no pasta. lol And sauteed cabbage. Because the cabbage fever is still raging :P

 

Snack #2: 2 strawberries, slice of butter cheese (just because I had never heard of such a thing, I had to try it. Turns out to taste a lot like mozza. With a tiny hint of brie.)

 

 

Kettlebells went pretty well last night - for some reason, 8kgs felt heavy, but my stamina was good so I don't know what to make of that.

 

I also mediated last night AND this morning! Whoohoo, one morning session accounted for, early in the week. It's utterly gorgeous out today, so I think a lunch walk will be in order.
