moomin
So I'm back for the second challenge, even though I said I'd miss out on this one! In case you haven't seen me around before (I guess only the bunch of Adventurers in RPG Fanatics know me), here's my Intro post and first challenge thread. I have worked out almost daily since November last year when I began on my fitness journey. And since I'm having my finals right now and having completed the 6 week challenge, I've slacked up and stopped exercising to focus on studying. Sounds logical? Guess what, my body is feeling the effects of exercise withdrawal. My body is just restless all the time and I couldn't focus as well as before! Main quest: Maintenance therapyKeep whatever progress that I've had, keep the refreshing effects of exercise, but minimize time spent and tiredness. Goal 1: Bodyweight workout breaks (+3 STR)Take bodyweight workout breaks when I feel uninspired. Instead of counting 3 circuits as one workout, I'll ask myself to do at least 6 circuits per week. These can be split up so they take less time! Goal 2: Get that heart pumping (+3 DEX)Apart from feeling that heart beating during near panic attacks in my exams, I want to get it beating for exercise! At least once per week for 30 minutes. Cardio usually means running for me. But elliptical, swimming and all other cardio exercises are counted. Goal 3: Sleep before midnight (+4 CON)I keep on waking up with a dull ache in my throat. Sleeping early can help fix that. Plus, I need to wake up early on exam days.Sleep before midnight for at least 5 days per week. Life quest: Pass the exams (duh) (+5 CHA) I'll set the stat/grade point allocation later. Maybe by the end of first week. 4 *Level 3 Hobbit Adventurer*Moomin 3 - Heart of an Adventurer2 - Maintenance therapy 1- Keep charging ahead "Life is akin to sailing against the current - forge ahead or be washed downstream" -- Ancient Chinese proverb Link to comment
Teros
You feel like taking a stroll around town to get some fresh air and get rid of the queasy feeling that's in the pit of your stomach. There has been talk of small green monsters scampering around at night. Townsfolk are required to keep to themselves and stay in their homes at night. The issue is 'under investigation.'Yeah, okay. Last night you overheard a drunk man babbling about 'Surdermuz coming back.' Whatever that means. While on your stroll you see a man with a scraggly beard and nearly shoulder-length frizzed hair spouting like a madman. He's yelling at the local salesmen and you're intrigued. The man yells, "EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE EVIL ONE- SODAMUS HAS RETURNED! HALF THE CALORIES? 0 GRAMS OF TRANS FAT? THOSE ARE SALES PITCHES BUT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS LOOK AT THE PRODUCT ITSELF TO SEE IT'S A LIE! IF ANY OF YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH TO GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM HERE, I WILL BE AT THE ADVENTURER'S TAVERN AT 5 P.M. TONIGHT!"That was all the man said before the guards grabbed him by the arms and threw him to the ground."THEY'RE SODAMUS' MINIONS! THOSE GREEN RAT-BASTARDS THAT ARE SNAKING AROUND AT NIGHT!""Pipe down or you'll get the ax," yelled a guard. "Off with ya. It's too early to be hitting the pub with your drunken ravings.""THE TAVERN! TONIGHT! I HAVE PROOF!" the man yelled as he fled. The man wasn't staggering around or slurring his words. He didn't seem drunk, just really panicked. Maybe you should check out the tavern later... So glad someone understands! ===========================So the first exam for this challenge was done. Gahhh. Feel very stupid making a really big mistake just because of my self doubt. I should have gone with my original answer. Did I do enough to pass? I'm actually not too sure. It's likely I did, but... (*catches myself from bashing head on wall*)It just would have been that much safer if I'd answered correctly for that one question. What's done is done. Now I have to focus for Wednesday, a full 6 hours of THE most difficult subject.I'll just take a little break and check out your challenges first 1 *Level 3 Hobbit Adventurer*Moomin 3 - Heart of an Adventurer2 - Maintenance therapy 1- Keep charging ahead "Life is akin to sailing against the current - forge ahead or be washed downstream" -- Ancient Chinese proverb Link to comment

Teros
What's done is done. Now I have to focus for Wednesday, a full 6 hours of THE most difficult subject.6 hours for 1 subject? Holy damn. Good luck. I despise tests because of that doubt. I already doubt a lot of what I do, but on tests it's like my brain is over overdrive. Even just basic multiple choice I say in my head 'two of these work because you can make a case for...' and then I realize I wasted 5 minutes on one stupid question and then I feel like I'm rushed to finish and panic more and more. I swear to god, I hate tests with every fiber of my being. If someone just asked me the question, I'd answer in a second. Put it on paper and tie a score to it and I suck. Link to comment

I know what that's like (especially the sleeping problem in relation to them...)Thanks!I'm waking up before the alarm every day.... it's called early morning wakefulness -- an early sign of depression, or so I'm told.Nice set of goals! Make sure you get lots of sleep so we can defeat Sodamus together! Dont over think how you did on the exam! I am sure you did awesome! Thanks for the confidence you've shown in me! :')Though I don't feel that confident myself, that's the way to try to think!I can feel the pain about stupid mistakes on exams, I make them all the time! Don't let it get you down too much or distract you from your other ones.Good luck with your goals. Yeah, humans (and hobbits) make mistakes, I know, but it's just very frustrating! I've gotten over those mostly, after a day. I only yell occasionally when I see something related to my mistake while prepping for the next exam! Lol.6 hours for 1 subject? Holy damn. Good luck. Oral exams on the other hand or no easier. The examiners will watch your face and know exactly what your thinking process is. It's unnerving and stressful.6 hours is no joke! And it's the 5th exam in a space of 10 days. Basically everything is based on memory and knowledge andI'm too overwhelmed and too tired to memorize things today. Might have to be creative in making up the answers tomorrow. Luckily no real patients will be harmed in the process.I console myself with the fact that this will be the last one this week. Sigh...Lurking here makes me feel better. T2sarahconnor
Good luck with you challenge. The oral exams are there to make you feel uncomfortable to make sure you can handle the decision making/problem solving under pressure. If you love what you are doing it will come out naturally because you have studied your heart out. I am sure you will be fine. I can't wait to get to the point of exercise withdrawal. It's lazy withdrawal I am feeling. It's hard to explain. I only felt withdrawal in the form of lots of antsy-ness after I was working out multiple times a week for about 2+ months. Once you take extra time off than usual, you tend to just want to bob around and feel like you should be moving. It's weird. 2 Link to comment
moomin
Wooooh! So exams are done for the week and I took a teeny tiny break today. Thanks for all your encouragement nerds! The 6 hours from yesterday was tiring, and I hope I've done good enough to get through. Couldn't sleep well last night though -- the mistakes and uncertainties kept replaying in my head. Kind of silly to not be able to sleep AFTER the exam. I usually couldn't sleep before the exams, but not after. Sorry for not sounding upbeat in this thread. It's just my current mood at the moment. I will snap out of it by the end of this challenge when I start my long awaited for holiday! =========================================================== 27/02/2014 (Thursday) W1D4Exercise withdrawal is OVER, having not worked out really hard consistently for almost 3 weeks. I felt so lethargic today. But it's my little break from the exams and I promised myself that I'd run today, and I did!!I aimed for a slow recovery run, but the speed turned out to be okay, especially considering that I stopped a few times -- my dog was not on his best behaviour today. I'd forgotten how good it felt once I finished the run. Woooo!
