Hi guys! Day 1 and I've already done stuff, woah!

 

So guess what I did today, I ate out. Yep, that happened. But it went like this: got home from work at 6:30, had to leave at 7 to get to yoga. Knew there was nothing in my house that I could cook and eat in that time frame so I just changed and went to panera because panera is one of the less sucky options. Then I yogaed, YAY <3 My yoga teacher has been gone the last two weeks so that was great. And then I went to the grocery store so I wouldn't have the same problem tomorrow or whenever. I made egg-cups with spinach and bacon and mushrooms for breakfast for the rest of the week, made sauteed apples to go with leftover plain chicken for lunch tomorrow, and prepped a chicken and butternut squash soup for the crockpot tomorrow. What I've come to realize is that many of my favorite meals are paleo, as is everything I made today. Win!

 

Also, I bought some oil to try oil cleansing instead of the harsh chemical stuff I'm constantly putting on my face. I have a friend that had a (crazy expensive) oil cleanser that I tried for a few days and loved, but at $35 for 6oz I'm not doing that. I went out and bought some natural oils based off of a website I found and the ingredients in the cleanser I liked and voila, an oil cleanser for way cheaper. Can't wait to see how it works.

 

I used a mix of olive oil and castor oil. It worked pretty well and I was very pleased with my skin. But I actually hate to wash my face NOT in the shower (i.e. I don't like to use a washcloth). Now that I think about it, that's a pretty lame excuse. But anyway, I really like the way the olive oil felt on my skin. Let me know how it goes!

Woohoo!  I found you!  Good job on the first day of the challenge.  Panera's not terrible.  Heck, most places have options that you can choose in a pinch.  Glad to hear that you have made plans and are going to be on the straight and narrow now.

 

Not planning is how I ended up eating a fried chicken sandwich with fries on Sunday.  I'm now cleansing on the Whole30.  These two things might be related. :)  Don't be a Wendy.  Plan.

 

I love your goals of journaling and the RAK.  Do you have a public journal like livejournal or a wordpress?  Also, am I a terrible person that I thought of strip clubs when I read RAK?

Getting ready to tip the waitor for lunch, and I think of your challenge. If I reliably tip stupid heavy amounts just for the fun of it, is it still an official RAK? XD I feel like it can't be, but that's merely a syntactical limitation, haha.

The RAKs are up for interpretation.  I am not sure there are limits set in place on anyone's but mine, really.

Do you regularly tip a stupid heavy amount?  If not, then it would be a bit random.  Really the thought of being able to do kind things for people is at the heart of it.

Ja. It's a regular thing. =) I tend to hover around 50% or so because it always makes everyone's day and I see no reason not to do that. =) It's just sort of pre-factored into my eating out budget, so yeah.

A few weeks ago I was at a restaurant and watched a middle aged man start shouting and berating an older man.    Dinner rush hour and everything.    Apparently, the middle aged man had a kid who was running around the place and the older man tripped over him (didn't see it happen, but that was the gist I was getting of the argument).   I was so blown away by this guy's attack.  The senior had calmly said, "He was running through the restaurant" and he gets a reply of "Well maybe you should watch where your fat*** is going then!"       Anyway.   Uh, RAK story.    I felt tugged to do something - so I pulled my waiter over and gave him ten bucks and said, "They're appetizer is on me."    Figured if the guy was going to have a shitty experience with humanity, he needed a good one to restore some faith in it.

Your challenge is awesome!  Part of my challenge is eating whole foods based, which essentially means not eating out... and it's hard already.  I didn't realize how much I eat out/get delivery until trying not to. You'll get there!

 

It seems like you're doing really well so far... as others have said Panera isn't a bad way to go if you must eat out.  Good luck! :D

Thanks guys, I'm debating making microwave handwarmers for the mailman as a RAK but I'm not sure what else...

I'll catch up with everyone once I'm at a computer but for now, an update on week 1!

Monday: $300 of debt paid off and yoga class

Tuesday: cooked dinner and went to bed early

Wednesday: cooked dinner and went to lift (finally). I've been a super bum about getting to the gym with the new job and so my lifts are kind of sucky. Still I was squatting and this girl pointed to me and said to her bf "teach me how to do that" and I laughed and told her that I would teach her. So I taught her and her friend squat form. Yay, hopefully 2 more lady lifters in the world!

Work weights:

Squat 3x5x135

Lat pull down: 2x3x60kg

Bench: 3x5x55

Deadlift: 3x5x115

Then I went home and had a shower protein shake (the fit version if a shower beer) and then a steak and slept like a baby
