sammyrulez
Hi rebels. Been a tall and ( still) skinny guy my favourite weapon has always been kicks.I had one of my sparring session filmed few months ago. My friend with the camera kept on screaming " high kicks, Sam! Kick him high! You so tall! " ( clean version of the actual comments :-) )So I decide to focus on flexibility and legs training. I have this crazy schedule for this quest. Monday: Flexibility training (HFS)Tuesday:Morining Bare Foot Running (BFR) and HFSEvening: Body Weight Brigade (BWB)Wednesday:Morning HFSEvening: KickboxingThursday : HFS and BWBFriday:Morning: BFREvening: KickboxingSaturday: HFS OR KickboxingSunday:Morning: BFREvening HFS BWBYeah it's a bit busy schedule. But I want to aim high ( my every means). I bought this "Hips flexibility system" since it was at a discounted price, it is designed for martial arts and Kishi already tried it with good resoults. It's a 10 weeks program so It will be part of my next challenge too.I'm starting with a bit of handicap: my pinkie is not 100%: I fear I had dislocated and occasionally hurts like hell. I had to heve it chacked but life is so crazy I hadn't the time. I have torn my right arm deltoid: nothing serius. It just stings a bit but since I will focus on legs it should be no problem. Last I have been sick yesterday. I crawl form the sofa to the bed with stomach upside down all day. Now I'm fine but not 100%. My fitness goals are: Been consistent with this training programBeen consistent with previous goals ( drinking 1lt off meals and eating 2500 healthy cal a day)Perform 4 high kicks (1,85 mt / 5,6 ft) in sequence and good formPerform 5 pull ups in a row with good formTo this I want to add a couple for Life goals: Meditation: I failed on this in my previous challenge but I'm gonna try harder this timeBeen consistent in blogging and ask for some designer tips to some friends ( your suggestions are really welcome). Buy the first class domain.Do something awesome for my family once a week: they deserve it.Sell stuff I do not need and engulf my garage. This include cradle, scooter, old bike. The only thing I can't really let go is my air-soft sniper kit. It's so bad ass and I will get very little money :-( I will add points per goal later. Good luck monks and rebels! 1 Level 4 Elf Monk RangerSTR - 13 DEX - 8 STA -5 CON - 6 WIS - 6 CHA - 5Current challenge Past challenges: 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Blog" what do you know about yourself if you haven't been in a fight?" sammyrulez
Ok first report Day 1 Read the HFS manual and completed the knee routine. They are hard. Really difficult exercises Day 2 Did a very short run , just 20 min with warm up and everythingIn the evening I tried the tabata protocol ( a bit outside the schedule.. I know but I was curious) I amused. I did 1 cycle of burpees ( average 6 per set) and 1 cycle of sit-ups ( average 26 per set)then 3 set of chin ups and pull-ups.I worm down with the HSF. I do not know if is suggestion or something but I feel already more flexible. Kishi
I felt the same way myself when I first started. If you think that's something, wait 'til you hit the standing routine next week. sammyrulez
yeha the sick kid situation gave me a hell week. This reflected on sleep eating and training. We give a lot of things for granted So first week summary: HFS: 5/6 a kind of false start so I'm gonna consider to reboot it this week. It is a hard ( I mean difficult and more fatiguing than I thought ).Kickboxing: the Friday session sucked, and it was all my fault. I couldn’t kick. Do not know why... may be I was just tired.Body Weight Brigade : 2/3Running: 2/3 skipped on Friday morning because I hadn’t sleep. Yesterday I gas out after 2 miles Meditation: 2/7... I know how it looks but compared to my previous challenge with a fix 0/7 it's kinda of epic success... the best thing achieved this weekBlogging: nailed! I registered my own domain! http://www.fightingmyway.com/ and last week post had some follows along the MT scene : read it here ( self promotion?!? )Something awesome for my family: yesterday I took the healthy 5yr son with his knight costume at the town parade. He loved it. But 3 hours standing killed my back :-(. After dinner I made my wife watch a episode of Black Mirror ( a UK mini serie.. if you don't know it u'r missing something) She is trying to improve her English and always complains about having poor vocabulary outside professional lingo.Stuff I do not need: I couldn’t do much in the garage due to heavy rain. But I fix the bedroom bookshelf and the two boxes of gadgets, usb madness, useless cd-rom. I throw away an absurd quantity of useless old magazines. So Alive and Kicking! Kishi
Don't let the strain of the HFS get you down. This is not an easy system. Not even a little bit. When Wong calls it 'Man-Stretching,' he's only half joking. Also, woot for the meditation sessions! Good stuff! Think you got three in you this week? sammyrulez
Sorry for not posting last week but I had a hell of a week ( again) Good news is that I stick with the plan. I sacrificed NF posting in favor of work and training... forgive me :-) HFS: 6/6 rebooted successfully. I'm having hard times watching all the videos for the this week schedule... tons of exercises to learnKickboxing: Skipped. Wife was out of town for a business trip so I had to make the stay at home dad. Plus my local nerd community organized a meeting for hacking on google glasses... should I say more?Body Weight Brigade : 2/3 the deltoid still hurts and is not getting any better. I focused on legs and absRunning: 2/3 skipped on Friday morning cause wife had some kind of food poisoning on the business trip and I did not want to wake up her early. I ordered a pair of vibram five finger shoes... so excited! Yesterday I hit a new personal record! 4.38 min/km ( 7 min/mile! ) Meditation: 2/7... missed the 3/7 mark.. sorry KishiBlogging: I started writing a nice post but a bit long and I did not make it for the wed. deadline.Something awesome for my family: this week I focused on small things: flowers for my wife, puppets show for the kids, ecc.Stuff I do not need: Formal operation started. Made a list of stuff I can realistically sell / give away / throw away Level 4 Elf Monk RangerSTR - 13 DEX - 8 STA -5 CON - 6 WIS - 6 CHA - 5Current challenge Past challenges: 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Blog" what do you know about yourself if you haven't been in a fight?" sammyrulez
whoha the vibrm just shipped to my desk! Too bad the guide suggest to start with just 10% of your current workout (ie: you usually run 10km run just 1 km) I'm already used to train barefoot! I train barefoot even when I'm doing Body Weight Brigade. Anyway the week started good: Did my Body Weight Brigade workout in the evening, core routine & kneeling routine for HFS and bioenergetics + meditation This morning run (avg 5min/km best lap 4.4 min/km ) bioenergetics + meditation Drinking steady Level 4 Elf Monk RangerSTR - 13 DEX - 8 STA -5 CON - 6 WIS - 6 CHA - 5Current challenge Past challenges: 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Blog" what do you know about yourself if you haven't been in a fight?" sammyrulez
Third week recup HFS: 5/6: I started the foam roller routine. For sure I'm missing something but I did not feel any benefit from it. On the opposite side the other routine are working great. I feel my hips more loose and I can kick easier if not higher. Kickboxing: 3 session this week. On Saturday I had 2hrs one on one with our best fighterBody Weight Brigade : 3/3Running: 3/3 on Sunday I started using the vibram fivefingers for the first time. I ran just 1 mile. It feel stange... a bit odd Meditation: I did some but since I put the bioenergetic routine as a priority I'm happy with that Blogging: well... this is nut. My last blog post " Fighting and martial arts explained to my wife"was a blast! 1200 views and counting! PLZ have a look at it and tell me what you think. Something awesome for my family: On Saturday we went for a nice trip to a couple of medieval festivals. We also have our first long "stabilizer free" bike ride with my eldest. At some point he panicked cause e couldn’t find the right balance. I put an enormous quantity of self-control to stay calm and supportive. Then he started cycling like there is no tomorrow. Kids... resourceful people... Stuff I do not need: Old mountain bike given away! Great week. This week I'm trying to keep track of daily calories and water intake. Thanks everybody for your support! Kishi
Keep working the HFS foam rolling. It's totally changed the way I roll my legs, and I think it's part of the reason that I've been able to abuse myself so hard without feeling any pain of note. Also, kicking easier is a good sign. I like that feeling, myself. Flexibility might come later for you, but having the ability to express more power in the meantime isn't a bad starting place. The V5F running is a tricky thing. You'll get the hang of it. So many new things happening for you all at once! Also, the blog entry is awesome, dude. 1 Work like a farmer, train like an athlete, fight like a soldier. 2 Tim. 2:3-6 BATTLE! Link to comment
