Overall Main Quest (stolen from sylph):

Preventing rot!

 

Main Quest for this challenge:

For this challenge my main quest is to relax and get rid off all those wired up feelings I accumulated during the last challenge. Oh, and just plain having fun!

GOAL 1: next step...getting some friendly bacteria to move back in with me

After doing the SCD diet for the last (almost) two month, I'm pretty sure that most of the bad guys are moved out or at least have their houses up for sale. This means it's time to fill all those empty places with new and preferably friendly roommates.

Sooo...I'll be following the paleo approach by Sarah Ballantyne (at least as far as I've read it yet) and will combine that with NSNG which I already did during the last challenge.

GOAL 2: relax and let go

For exercise I will be doing lots of stretchy stuff. My ballet teacher agreed to let me take a video during the warm-up, that way I can do that part at home as well (I already incorporate some of the exercises into my at-home-stretching but never manage to remember all of them). I'll also be squatting for 30 min a day and do at least one kettlebell workout a week. I also want to try some relaxation techniques with the kids before they go to bed (and if successful add it to their nighttime routine).

GOAL 3: get pampered (or at least pamper yourself)

Yeah, I wish that was true! (not talking about the table tennis part, in case you were wondering)

Anyways, About a week ago I started a natural skin care routine in the evenings. I cleanse, tone and moisture my face! Gasp! (I used to do...nothing) This helps me relax into my evening and calm down after the little monsters are in bed.

 

LIFE GOAL: off to bed you go...attempt #2

This time the goal is to have the kids in bed by 8:00pm. This should theoretically give me enough time for myself in the evenings so that I can be in bed by 10:00pm myself. At least that’s the theory....

Week 1 Day 1

 

 

GOAL 1: next step...getting some friendly bacteria to move back in with me

Diet was pretty good (except for too much coconut milk :( ). I started adding in some fermented foods. And I started taking an HCl and enzyme supplement OR apple cidre vinegar before each meal. That really seems to make a difference in my digestion! :D

 

GOAL 2: relax and let go

We did a lot of stretching today at ballet. I got 15 min of squatting done.

 

GOAL 3: get pampered (or at least pamper yourself)

I did my little routine and it really helps calming me down in the evening.

Today was our weekly mother and kid playgroup (Krabbelgruppe) and since it is the season we were danicing and jumping around while listening to carneval's songs! :D That was so much fun and my little one loves, loves, loves to dance!

Pamper routine: DONE!

 

LIFE GOAL: off to bed you go...attempt #2

Kids were in bed by 8pm, I was in bed by 9pm. 

 

I'm thinking about adding a counting system for easier reports. We'll see!

I hate carnaval, but I can imagine it's fun with kids.

 

I don't particularly like it either. (That's part of the reason why I think I'm adopted :D) But with kids you kind of have to and then it's kind of fun in a weird way.

Week 1 Day 3

 

 

GOAL 1: next step...getting some friendly bacteria to move back in with me

Good bacteria in the form of fermented foods were ingested. I roasted a chicken for dinner and it was sooo good. Too bad chickens only have two legs and two wings each... :D

 

GOAL 2: relax and let go

I did my stretching exercises and tried the crow pose for the first time after hurting my wrist last year and only managed to hold it for two seconds or so but my wrist didn't hurt. Yay! I see more handstands in my future! :D I also did 30 min of squats.

In the evening  we made our first attempt at relaxing meditation...my oldest is a relaxation pro (she had two classes in preschool and is now in an after school project about relaxation as well). The little one on the other hand seems to suffer physical pain as soon as she has to sit still for longer than two seconds. We put lots of blankets and pillows on the floor to make it comfy, we lay down, I start reading the story, little one gets up (the blanket is not over her all the way), I continue reading while fixing the blanket, little one gets up (she just remembered that she wanted to use a different pillow), I continue reading the story, little one got the other pillow lies back down, I continue reading the story, little one gets back up (she forgot one of her cuddlies), I continue reading the story, little one lies back down, the story continues, little one gets back up (she decides to see what her sister is doing), I tell her to leave her alone and go lie down, little one starts crying because she is treated unfairly but goes back to her place and lies back down, I continue reading the story, little one gets back up (she needs another one of her cuddlies), I continue reading the story, little one lies back down and is finally ready to relax, the story is over! First attempt: FAIL!

GOAL 3: get pampered (or at least pamper yourself)

Pamper routine: done! 

In the afternoon we made lip balm together. The kids were really excited and couldn't wait to try it out. Each one got a little tub to herself. My oldest put some on her lips and than put the tub in her room so that the little one wouldn't get it (wise move). The little one put some on her lips, wiped it of and put some more on her lips. She continued that procedure until I caught her doing it. The tub was half full by that time. Now her tub is in her room on the highest shelf (so far she hasn't figured out how to reach that).

Haha I also always like the legs and wings best! Luckily my boyfriend doesn't like those pieces so they're all mine!

Usually my husband and the cat share most of the chicken breast while the kids and me fight over the wings and legs. Needless to say we have quite a bit of chicken breast leftovers in the fridge :D

I'm so looking forward to doing handstands (or at least practicing them) again. But I don't want to jinx it and do too much too soon.

Oh. My. God. I made these amazing coconut bars! They are the devil dressed up as food! I swear!

I made them for the kids but ate most of them myself. And they are so not NSNG (ok on the paleo approach though, but that's why I combined the two)! They're definitely not in the just one category! More like the one more until the batch is gone category!

Week 1 Day 4-6

 

 

GOAL 1: next step...getting some friendly bacteria to move back in with me

Good bacteria in the form of fermented foods were ingested. I had too many servings of sweet potato spaghetti. Unfortunately, I adore them! I tried out Batwoman's sweet potato hash as well. So good that it's bad!

I also made the aforementioned devil's food. Bad, really, really bad. I haven't had any for a day now and am starting to fantasize about it. I'm going through withdrawal! Good thing I don't have any more shredded coconut in the house. Might have to tie myself to a chair though in order to prevent myself from getting more... *going to search for a rope now*

 

GOAL 2: relax and let go

I did my squats everyday. Between 15 and 30 min. I also did some KB swings and half of the Zumba basics program (30 min).

We tried more relaxation stories but so far not one of us got to relax during them. I might have to try something else.

 

GOAL 3: get pampered (or at least pamper yourself)

Pamper routine: done! 

This morning I made some peeling and tried it out right away. Sooo smooth!

 

LIFE GOAL: off to bed you go...attempt #2

Kids were in bed by 8pm, I was in bed by 9:30pm the last two nights. Plan on working it that way again tonight.

I decided to add a rating system to my challenge. I stole this from MaxCurtis. I love it, because it's so simple! Might add some color to it next time I'm on the computer, though.

Thanks! Going to bed early is not easy. Lots of shiny stuff around to distract me. That's why this is the third challenge that this is one of my goals :P

She will probably win if I don't change tactics soon :D Shes just so full of energy and sometimes doesn't know what to do with all that energy. She even does things she's not supposed to and right in front of my nose, too so that she "gets" to be punished so that she can cry and get rid of some of her energy that way. I kid you not! That's why I want to teach her how to calm herself down and let go of her energy before she gets to a certain age where she finds out that pain is a great way to release energy. (I dealt with that when I was a teenager myself and had a hard time learning other ways) She's so much like me that it scares me sometimes!

How old is she? Sounds like she needs a lot of outside time.. Maybe an awkward comparison but my dog is really annoying when she has too much energy so I just wear her down with exercise. Then she'll be much happier!
