Main quest


This challenge is going to be a bit different. I am going to have some specific challenges in meeting my goals in these 6 weeks. I will be going to Cancun midway through this challenge and I intend on enjoying myself thoroughly. This will probably involve a lot of alcohol so I have made one of my goals to combat this problem. I also have a couple other things I want to keep doing. As with last challenge there are going to be three different categories. Strength, Mind, and Agility.

Beast is a genius as well as possessing super human strength and agility. I will achieve some portion of his level of awesomeness in this challenge. 

 

The goals

 

1. I took the time to get my body right. It is now time to get my mind right. I will read, research, learn something new or expand current knowledge at least 4 hours a week for this challenge. Something posted at the gym a 1 hour workout is only 4% of your day. I can take 8% and make my mind and body right and still have time left to spare.

2. Beasts Agility is legendary. Last Saturday I did my first Insanity class and it was ROUGH. I will go to the insanity class every Saturday except the week I leave.

3. I will squat my current body weight 3x225x15 by the time I end this challenge.  It may not seem like much but I have been wanting to squat my body weight for a while. I will get there this challenge.

4. I ran 4 miles Sunday.  I will find/register/and participate in an actual 5k. I want my time to be under 36 minutes. That equats out to about a 12 minute mile which is a little faster than I generally run but I can do this.

5. Maintain my weight in Cancun. I will weigh myself Saturday morning. I will weigh myself the Sunday morning I come back. I want to stay the same. This will be done through Cardio at least 4-5 times in the week and weight training a minimum of 3 times.

Last night was trainer night and we did shoulders, chest, and arms...10 workouts in 35 minutes. I failed a couple times on some things but that's a good thing at times right?

 

Assisted Pullups 3 sets 12, 10, 8 @ 130lbs/2@150lbs superset with Seated Row 2x15@130lbs/1x15@120lbs

Incline Chest Press 1x15@115, 1x15@135, 1x12@140 superset with Pec Flys 2x15@130/1x15@120

Arnold Sholder Press 3x15@15 superset with Shoulder side raises 3x12,12,8@10lb dumbells/7@5lb dumbells

Tricep pushdown 3x15x100lbs superset with Standing Curls 3x15x80lbs

Preacher Curls 2x12x70lbs 1x15x60lbs superset with Overhead tricep extensions 3x15x60lbs

 

Came home ate some dinner then went out for cardio...pretty happy with my result...Knocked out Week 9 day 1 of the 10k trainer. I jogged 1.5 miles walked .2 miles repeated 3 times. It took me about an hour. My average pace while jogging was 12:30...A little slower than I wanted but still ok I guess. I want to try and hit a 12 minute mile pace before the flying pig. 

 

I've hit another wall with my weight...These things seem to be coming up quicker and quicker. I've been at this weight with 2lbs of 224 for about 2 weeks now. Usually the lower numbers go pretty quick and I get stuck at the next x8 or x9lb mark. However, I can't seem to get past this damn 222/224/226 area. I thought I had my whole weight thing figured out LoL...I'd hit a wall like at 229/228 then hold steady for a week or two then drop the 9-10lbs over the next 3 weeks...but that hasn't happened this time and I'm starting to get frustrated a little. I worked my ass off last week and didn't lose a pound and the way this week is going it looks to be about the same.

 

On a funny note. Everything tells me given my height my "healthy" body weight is 114.6 to 141.5 or something like that...I have more lean muscle mass than that at this point.

 

Week 1 is starting out right!!..

 

Still haven't found my RAK opportunity yet. I shall find one...

 

Still no reading yet...bad bad bad..I HAVE to start doing this...or some sort of learning...

My calories according to my mfp goal is 1730 a day...although I tended to go over by about 100 every day so I made them 1850....just because of a late night snack. After eating my normal daily meal I have like 50 calories left. I've been trying to stay within the budget but it's not easy when you're hungry at the end of the day...and I can't sleep when I'm hungry so it's worse LOL...

 

I had a high calories lunch yesterday(Wings and fries..2100 calories ALONE!)...It's amazing that I used to eat that and not think twice about it...Then I had cheat meal guilt LoL...but I feel ok today...

 

My macro split used to be 45% Carbs, 45% Protein, 10% Fat...

 

A pretty standard day for me see's my breakdown like this

Fat: 67/92 25 left

Carbs: 144/349 205 left

Protein 174/139 35 over...

 

I just changed it to be 35% Carbs, 55% Protein, 10% Fat...

 

 

 

 

Now onto the bad news...

 

I sprained my ankle or something Wednesday night. It hurts pretty bad, this means no insanity in the morning...although I am going to try and do spinning. This also means no running which is what really bums me out. I was doing so well at it. It didn't hurt when I got done with the run so I don't know what the problem is but it really ticks me off...I have it wrapped and am on some high mg of Ibuprofin. Let's hope this heals quick before I lose the running gains I've had in the last 2 weeks!

 

Depending how long this lasts I might have to change my agility goal. I'm thinking I'm going to have to at elast take this weekend off from running and hope it gets better.

Ok, how are you measuring your food? Just curious. I looked at your diary on MFP, and you're pretty consistent day to day.

 

I'd suggest eating more, I was eating 2200 kcal/ PRO 200g / CHO 200g / FAT 75g and I lost weight. All I do for exercise is 3 days I lift (not even that much) and walk. You do 3 times more activity than I do, you should eat more.

 

I suggest doing the above, for a couple weeks every day. Then we can see what happens.

Generally I know exactly what I'm eating because we measure most things...Every now and again I will guess but generally if I am guessing I over estimate instead of under. 

 

Maybe next two weeks I will try to eating more...My problem is finding the carbs..I love potatoes but rarely eat them anymore because of the high calories that they usually require....

 

I was actually thinking about going to a nutritionist and seeing what they can do...

Intentional cheat meals exist exactly so you don't feel guilty. Wings and fries are epic.

 

Also, sorry about your ankle :(  Are you wearing a brace?  Hope you feel better soon!

 

I have it wrapped in an ace bandage....working out is going to kind of suck LOL....

 

I know they do...I guess my thought at this point since I've not been doing them for the last month is wondering if it was really worth it...Like I just look at the food and it's not very appealing because all I see are the calories...but I treated myself yesterday..

 

Today our company bought pizza and the funny thing is I didn't really want any of it...One of the girls made me cut a small corner of of her piece to try but that was it...Interesting how much I have changed in just a year.

I'm hopeful for a speedy recovery for you, Kid.  Anything that impedes your running sucks.  Hope week two goes well for you.

Maybe instead of having "cheat meals" you could just stick with eating awesomely, and then not beat yourself up if you do decide to indulge yourself on occasion. No one can be perfect all the time, you've gotta have a little wiggle room or you'll never be happy with yourself.

 

Hope your weekend went well and you're ankle is on its way to recovery!
