Hello, Rebellion.

I'm back again with my fifth challenge! Yes, I'm aware that I'm late to the party but better to be late than sorry! Or is it better to be sorry than late? I'm actually not too familiar with that saying. :)

Main Quest!

~ Work on my fitness!

Side Quests:

~ Gain a new skill to add to my CrossFit repertoire! Whether it's butterfly pull-up, a muscle up (gasp!), or Double-Unders, I'm going to learn something new!

~ Complete the 2014 CrossFit Games Open Workout each week!

~ Get in (at least) a three mile run weekly! I used to run a minimum of one mile, but now I'm stepping up my game.

~ Weigh myself weekly and keep track of my progress. I plan to weigh myself once a week and see where I'm heading. (Currently at 197 lbs)

Life Quest!

~ Make plans to go to Chicago Comic-Con, Houston's own Comicpalooza, and Tough Mudder. I need to request those days off from work and make the necessary arrangements to attend.

I also plan to keep a workout log of my CrossFit WOD's here as well. I did a horrible job of updating my last challenge consistently, so I want to make sure that I rectify that this time around.

Also, I want to keep track of my weight to get an idea of where I'm at physically. I don't necessarily want to lose weight, but I don't want to gain more weight either.

I plan to do my weekly runs at a local park (hopefully with bad ass Monk Cheechoe if possible)...

My brother lives in Chicago so I figured I might as well attend Chicago Comic-Con and visit him as well. I most definitely plan to go to Comicpalooza (Spike from Buffy will be there!) and Tough Mudder as well! I just need to save up $$$, request the days off from work, and other stuff...

I like it but I think your main quest is a little bit general. You should have something slightly more specific. Also, weight is kinda weird. Is there a better way to keep measurements?

Ah, you're right, Dev. I'm used to the digital scale but now I think I should use use other forms of measurements. Maybe a tape measure for my waist, biceps, and such?

CrossFit Champions WOD

5 Rounds of 2 Minute "AMRAP" (As Many Reps as Possible) with a 1 minute break in-between:

9 (modified) Hand Stand Push Ups

12 Kettlebell Swings (50 lbs)

Maximum Effort Box Jumps 24"

~ Finished the WOD with 37 Box Jumps. I did some hand stand holds but I don't have the necessary strength at this time to do a complete Hand Stand Push Up. Perhaps I will work on that skill for this challenge...

~ I didn't run today, but I plan to get it done tomorrow. It was actually kind of Chilly here in Houston this afternoon...

3 Minute AMRAP

6 Sumo Deadlift High Pull (95 lbs)

12 ButterFly AbMat SitUps

Then:

6 Pull-Ups

12 Medicine Ball Cleans (20 lbs)

Then:

3 Minute AMRAP

6 Power Cleans & Jerk

12 Russian Twists

~ Great CF WOD. Afterwards, we did tabata core work and I went for a mile run at the park. I would've ran farther but I was extremely sore from Back Squats the other day!

~ I also went to a Circus / Acrobatic type class with a fellow CF member. It was insane! I got to climb up a silk robe thing, learn how to juggle, and do a move on the hoop.

~ AND I picked up Cheechoe from the airport. Got to hear some fantastic stories about her time in Boston.

I second using multiple measurements... I have one of these

 

 

Adjustable for measuring the circumference of eight different body parts,

 

and I have spreadsheets and graphs :) (and I set up a form on google docs to make the adding to the spreadsheet super painless because I am uber nerd :) LOL)

 

 

and running with  bad ass Monk Cheechoe has me jelly

SATURDAY, MARCH 1, 2014

CrossFit Saturday Workout:

800 meter run

50 Ab-Mat Sit Ups

25 Push-Ups

15 "Ring Rows"

40 Air Squats

I modified and scaled down this workout from the original scheme to warm me up for the main event, which was...

CrossFit Games Open WOD 14.1!!!

AMRAP IN 10 MINUTES:

30 Double Unders

15 Power Snatches ( 75 lbs Men / 55 lbs Women)

~ I managed to get 114 reps! I didn't expect to even get that amount due to my severe deficiencies in Double Unders, but I truly surprised myself. I definitely consider this to be a triumphant moment. It's safe to say that I've got Double Unders down for the most part! Goal accomplished? ;)

~ I requested the weekend of Chicago Comic-Con (or C2E2) and Comicpalooza off. We'll see if I'll get those days off from work. Unfortunately, I've been told that Tough Mudder has been cancelled. It's all good, though. There's always next year!

Yes this!  And also did you try for a second submission?  Either way, 114 is super impressive to me, and I'm more severely deficient in double unders (but I'm coming for you).

Thanks, Cheech! I want to say it was about 10 of 'em! I've noticed that once you get into the rhythm, it just flows easily. :)

Ah, yes. Unfortunately, your sister told me that Stargazer won't be able to make it (due to her injury) thus the cancellation of TM. :(

CrossFit Workout:

20 Minutes "AMRAP"

100 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches (45 lbs)

75 Front Squats (75 lbs)

50 'Good Mornings'

25 Push-Ups

~ DNF. I managed to knock out the 100 Dumbbell snatches and Front Squats, but ran out of time with the 'Good Mornings".

~ Tried to go on a run at the park but my legs were f*$king sore as hell from the Front Squats. I still finished the 1.25 mile route, though.

~ Good news, everyone! I was granted the weekend (March 23-25) of Comicpalooza off from work! I'm debating if I should try to get Spike's signature or the Black Power Ranger.

~ I'm currently at 197.2 pounds as of this morning. I need to invest in the measurement tool that AlienJenn recommended. :)
