Basic [Wufkar] Ratchet

Goals:

Eat Cleanly at a deficit

Lift Heavy

Rucking Train

 

 

Several things are going to occur during this challenge though

  • Nerdster - 4/19
  • 5k - 4/26
  • GRL - 5/10

 

At work we're spooling up all the construction for pending circuits and the completion dates will hit actually starting next week. It's going to be a lot of work, and a lot of long hours. As such I'm keeping this pretty straight forward and simple this go round.

 

  • Strong Lifts5x5 3x/week. 
  • Eat clean macros
    • 150g P / <50gC / 100g F ~1500kcal
  • Ruck twice a week

Life wise, much more general: stay on top of everything and don't get bogged down in the office BS that's been going around.

 

That's it.

I like your plan.  Simple, straight forward, can be tracked.    Sounds like you got it sorted out.  Now just gotta doooo iiiiiiit!

First of the brain dumps.

Is there a value in futility exercises? Lately I've found myself wondering if there are some cases where a futile exercise must be played out or if there is a way to not play the game. Then again its not as though refusing to participate stops the futile exercise. By definition real life futility happenings happen regardless of your action or inaction. 

At what point do you cut your losses and move forwards? 

 

I don't have these answers, but they're on my brain incessantly right now.

I have a tendency to over-analyze things. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes it's not.

 

One of the most recent things I over-analyzed was Alex's response to me informing him I'm going to be doing SL5x5. I sent it via email because he is very hard to get in touch with other than via text. I never received a response and my brain just went crazy.

 

Today was the first time I'd talked to him since then. We talked about my reasons, specifically that life is going crazy right now and I need to not have to worry about what to do at the gym. I need routines, and the gym is where I can create one. On top of that, we had already discussed that a longer term goal is to compete in a PL competition and the original reason for him was to fix my form. We've done that, now it's time to set the volume and the mechanics. 

 

He still wants to see what I do as far as on a calendar so he can determine the progress I'm making and address any weaknesses with MetCons. We do still have 3 sessions where we'll focus on form checks and OLY lifts. We'll do those once a month.

 

I've been over-analyzing other things too. One is pretty prevalent, the trip to Austin has me analyzing to a ridiculous level. It's the first time I've gone somewhere and not had a vehicle on the other end, plus the idea that I wonder if I'm expecting too much. The conversation with Alex really helped clear things up. I'm fine. There's nothing to worry about, if I need to get somewhere without a car, that's what Taxi's are for. If I need a ride back to my friend's house where I'm staying, I can get a ride from a nerd, or again a taxi. Absolute worst case? I end up spending time with friends I already know and love. Expected case? I confirm new people as friends I know and love.

 

Shut up brain. We don't need your emotional rollercoasters. Life has enough already without making some up.
