A little about me, I'm 40 yrs old, and just competed in Master's Nationals in Shreveport, LA last weekend. I compete in the 85kg class, mainly because I have no desire to drop to 77kgs. I've recently changed careers, from a Materials and Process Engineer working in Aviation, to a Patent Attorney. I have a little bit of ADHD when it comes to programming, and that's kept me from making any progress the last few years. I've since made a decision to use Pendlay Beginner's program until American Masters in November and see what kind of progress I make. Current numbers:Snatch: 80kg - best ever is 90kgClean & Jerk: 115kg - best ever is 120kgBack Squat: 155kgFront Squat: 135kg I finished 8th out of 11 lifters at Nationals, with a 80kg snatch and 112 CJ for a 192kg total this past Sunday. Frist day back today: Power Snatch40 x 2, 250 x 2, 2, 2 Power Clean50 x 260 x 270 x 2, 2 Front Squat60 x 380 x 290 x 3, 3 Overall, good day coming off a horrid meet for me. My best comp total is 203kg, and I need 205kg to qualify for Master's Worlds. Quote Link to comment

Snatch 40 x 2, 250 x 260 x 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 - 5 singles, not timed or anything, just when I felt ready Clean & Jerk 50 x 270 x 180 x 1, 1, 1 - 3 singles, same Didn't feel hard, but not totally easy either. I need more consistency at heavier weight, and more squatting volume. It's modified a little to suit me. Snatch 40 x 3, 350 x 260 x 165 x 1 x 10/11 OTM (on the minute) - missed 2nd rep due to windshield salesman interrupting me Clean & Jerk 60 x 270 x 180 x 185 x 1 x 5 OT2M (on the 2nd minute, so about 1.5 min rest) Back Squat 80 x 4100 x 2110 x 5, 5, 5 Some bicep/tricep hypertrophy work, just one set, though. Numbers have been returning to acceptable levels very quickly. Been trying to find a job, and got a call from one firm for an interview, then a network contact I made last night e-mail introduced me to 2 others. Set an interview with one, and waiting for the other's colleague to get back from overseas. Then updated an application I sent to another firm. Hence, I had some trouble with focus this afternoon. bulldog73 Posted May 4, 2014 Author Report Share Posted May 4, 2014 Figured out the knee soreness. I have an issue squatting where I'm twisting to the right slightly coming out of the hole. Also, I need to increase my stretching of the whole leg, and not just focus on quads, which I have been doing over the last few weeks. I think neglecting the hamstrings and calves has resulted in a flexibility imbalance. Also, I tried the new Pendlay shoes I got today. Monday, 5-5-14 Snatch40 x 3, 350 x 2, 260 x 165 x 1, 1, 1 - pretty easy Clean & Jerk50 x 2, 270 x 180 x 190 x 1, 1 Back Squat70 x 590 x 3110 x 2125 x 5 - not too hard I lifted on one of the new Rogue Oly bars. Very nice, might have to consider one. Also used the new American Barbell urethane bumper plates. These are extremely good plates!! I loved using these. Quote Link to comment

Tuesday, 6-3-14 My legs and hips were somewhat wrecked due to a high rep back-off set on Sunday, not quite recovered for today. Snatch40 x 350 x 2, 260 x 267.5 x F, 2 - after the miss, took a rest, then made my double - tired legs and hips resulted in hips rising too fast on the pull72.5 x 1/3 - went F, 1, F - same as above65 x F, 3 - same as above, reset after the miss, then got the triple, although last rep was forward Clean & Jerk50 x 270 x 280 x 2+190 x 195 x 1 - took it easy today by doing singles instead of 2+1's due to leg soreness Back Squat90 x 3110 x 2125 x 3, 3, 3 - not bad, but last reps were a touch slow due to tightness Ab Wheel x 3, 3 - getting better here Quote Link to comment
