Originally this was going to be a non-level-up challenge. Because in the next six weeks I must revise constantly and sit my final university exams which will allow me to graduate and start my job as a pharmacist in July. That was until I decided to join the local Roller Derby Team...oops.

 

Main Quest: Become the Rolling Pharmacist

 

How am I going to do that?

  • Revise. Every. Single. Day. (WIS)
    • There are no ifs, ands, or buts for this one. I either revise every day, or I don't, and if I don't, I fail my exams
    • This challenge finished 3 days after my final exam, only in those last 3 days do I get to not revise, though even then, I'll be revising derby rules.
  • Go to one skating session a week (STR + STA)
    • My first Newbie session is this coming Tuesday (the 15th) from then I'll go every Tuesday (though I'm giving myself a pass for Tuesday the 29th because I have an exam the next day, so of course I'm not going then
    • After 4 weeks I may get invited to the Sunday sessions as well, at which point I really need to decide whether roller derby's for me and need to buy my own kit!
  • Do one off-skate derby workout a week (STR)
    • Lots of squats, lunges, crap like that basically

The ultimate goal is to pass my exams (results are out June 19th) and pass my minimum skills for the WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association) but they reckon that can take about 3 months. So in 6 weeks I want to be well on my way to doing it.

 

I haven't assigned numbers to my stat points, because I've rejoined the RPG Fanatics Accountability group and I'll wait and see what stats they suggest from that then work around them :)

When I make the B team (which I'm going to try for!) Which may take about 4 months, there will be photos haha

Roller skated today along the sea front and my knee's sore. Think I'm going to add in 'build knee strength' in this challenge as I have in the past had trouble with dislocating knees (years of horse riding plus judo plus shitty genes equals weak knees). If Im going to reduce my risk of injury I need to work on my physio again me thinks.

Spent a little time this afternoon creating two derby related workouts for me to do during this challenge. I'm sure they'll change some, but they're good as starting points. The plan is to alternate them :D

So one is mostly lower body & core strength, while the other is more upper body plus a mix of core & lower body.

 

Going to do some meal planning tonight - I know it's not a part of my challenge this time around, but it's just something I'm doing on the side :)

I have a friend that does roller derby, it looks like a lot of fun! Good luck with your studies and your goals, I'm sure you'll do great.

what are ankle circles?

You balance on one leg and turn your foot in a circle at your ankle :) it's to build ankle strength, which I really need for derby

 

WOO!  You'll be shoulder checking people into the stands in no time. :)

Ahhhhhhh awesome! I do want to go back to roller derby at some point, I broke my leg trying out my skates before I started Fresh Meat. I hope you have a blast though, it is such a fun looking sport! 

oh no!! Thankfully I have yet to fall on my skates, though I am worried about damaging myself xD

Just spent 2 hours in the garden with my parents. Our garden is...to put it plainly, fucking huge. Spent an hour edging the lawn while my bro spent 4 hours cutting it. Then spent another hour cutting down trees, ripping out brambles and removing very heavy fences with my dad.

I'm now very tired but hopefully I'm going to go for a walk with Rob down the seafront tonight so yay :)

I got out for a hike.  Was going to do yard work but we got the projected rain a day early.

Okay 3 hours of revision down so far today. Did my fourth practice exam and totally passed - woohoo! This particular exam isn't for like 4 weeks on Thursday, but it's the hardest one which is why I've started with this.

 

All I can say, is I now have so many more reasons to hate cancer & deadly bacterial infections xD

 

Not working out today - I'll be at work tonight - but I am going to do some of my physio moves for my knees and ankles, what with my first newbie session being tomorrow night :D

roller derby is awesome!  I had debated on trying out for the team here, but I am too big of a wuss!  Great set of goals!  I love the workouts you have planned.

Frankly I'm quite scared of getting hurt, especially with previously having sports injuries relating to judo. But I love contact sports, we'll see how I go lol

I don't care what other boys/giorls say....scars are awesome and hot and interesting, boring people don't have scars....just remember that lol:-p Good Luck!
