Hello old friends, I am heading back to the Rangers this time after hanging out with the Warriors for the last few challenges.

To achieve Level 7, I will be channeling my true inner Ranger which means combining a lot of what I have learned over the last few challenges into a more balanced version of myself.

My main quest is to fit comfortably into size 14 trousers by losing body fat. To move towards this achievement, I have set the following quests for this challenge:

1. Handstand challenge!  STR+2 DEX+3

As a much younger hooman, summer lunchtimes were spent out on the fields doing cartwheels and handstands. Now I have all but overcome my shoulder injury, the time has come to revisit those carefree days. Using Chris Salvato's method as a guide, I will spend 5 minutes per day on handstand practice.

A = 28+ days of handstand practice

B = 25-27 days

C = 22-24 days

F = 21 days or fewer of handstand practice.

2. Rangerfy the workouts!  STR+2 DEX+1 STA+2

Living in the land or Warriordom was great (lifting + eating = fun!) but I did sometimes yearn for the days when I did all the things. I will continue with workouts up to 5 days per week but make them circuit-type workouts and not pure heavy lifting or pure cardio. More a kind of cross fit style. Don't rest for too long between things.

A = 25+ circuit workouts

B = 22-24 circuit workouts

C = 19-21 circuit workouts

F = 18 or fewer circuit workouts.

3. Love your body challenge!  WIS+2 CHA+1

Using Molly Galbraith's blog posts as a template and guide, I'll be completing this 28-day challenge within the 6 weeks of this challenge (so basically weekdays.) No grading here; I either complete it or I don't.

100% points for completing the challenge

0 points for not completing the challenge.

4. Clearout!  WIS+1 CHA+1

Inspired by this article, I need to make a space on my floor for my exercise mat to fit. In order to see that bit of floor, I will eliminate the embarrassing pile of clothes that currently occupys the space. Currently my laundry goes from worn to wash to dry to worn - it never seems to hit the inside of the wardrobe. So what the hell is in the wardrobe?!? I obviously need to evaluate what I have, do a clearout, and eliminate that mess.

A = "A place for everything, and everything in its place"

B = The doors shut but inside things are messy

C = Everything fits inside but the doors don't shut

F = There are still things which don't fit in the wardrobe.

Oh yay. Photo journalling the daily challenges was something I didn't do, but that I wish I had. Now you're making me wonder if I should give it another try... =)

Thank you. I love taking photos, it helps my memory and I love looking back through old pictures.

Doubt I'll be doing daily photos for love your body though, my 365 project with Edna (the girl in my avatar) keeps me very busy.

*drops down from a tree* Hello!!

I didn't realize how much I missed this community until I saw your post on my thread, so I'm going to make sure I give back as much as I get.  Your challenge looks amazing, though I haven't heard of this "Love your body" blog before, I may have to investigate.... *scampers off into the bushes*

Week 1 progress update

A bit of a weird week because of the 4-day Easter weekend. Nevertheless I have planned well and made good progress.

1. Handstands

Working on the planks, I am now able to hold myself up on my hands for a good 20 seconds at a time without being too wobbly. This is also helping with my pressups, so win/win! Practices achieved this week: 5

2. Circuits

Now I remember how I used to work out and how sweaty I used to get! Feeling really good. Circuit workouts achieved this week: 5

3. Body love

Some of the reasons are a bit samey however they all seem to resonate with me. Days of body love achieved this week: 5

4. Clearout

Have taken a big bag of stuff to the charity shop and am able to see a bit more floor than before. Making good progress towards a place for exercise.

Overall I am really pleased with the week and am awarding myself a B for this week. Everything is making progress but I could have made a little more effort over the long weekend if I had gotten my butt into gear. Room for improvement but all is good.

Sounds like a solid start to the challenge to me, way to go hun!!  I also had a look at the Love Your Body Challenge and have been following along with it (I'm on Day 3).  I agree, it does seem a bit samey, but I suppose repetition is the key to retention :)

Week 2 progress update

A public holiday on Monday and so a bit of a short week again.

1. Handstands

I can now hold a plank on my hands for 30 seconds three times with a short break in between. The first one is always easy, the second a bit wobbly, and the third is pretty tough. Practices achieved this week: 4

2. Circuits

Feeling good. I completed the mini-challenge this week which was incorporating kettlebell work into a workout. I got help from a trainer at the gym which was brave for me. I enjoyed the kettlebell stuff so much that I have put kettlebell elements into my workouts since then. Circuits are flowing better now, a bit more intense which is what I am aiming for. Circuit workouts achieved this week: 5

3. Body love

Found a couple of the exercise difficult this week but they are still resonating and really making me think. I took better care of my body this week, gave myself a bit of a spring clean. Body is feeling good. Days of body love achieved this week: 6

4. Clearout

Weeded out a few more clothes and started sorting and folding what I have left. Managed to put all my clean, dry laundry away in the wardrobe and shut the doors so already I have made good progress.

Overall I am feeling good. My arms are feeling firmer and I find myself looking forward more to  my varied workouts rather than sticking to the more rigid lifting plan I had before. Now it feels like there are so many options ... if my first idea is not available it is easy to quickly think of something else. This means less stress for sure. I am awarding myself a B again this week. I made good progress but could have tried a little bit harder with the handstands and got 5 practices in the week instead of 4.

Awesome job with week 2.  You will definitely do better for week 3 with all the positive things you've gained from weeks 1 and 2.  :D

 I've been slowly spring cleaning things in my apartment, now I just have to actually bring the bag/box to the donation bin.  :)

. I am Elder . Woosah . Sunshine . Plants . Fur babies . New book smell . Cinnamon . Pepperoni Pizza .

Awesome job, souzzielou!!  I share your love of the varied workout plan, it keeps things interesting and there's no worry if you can't do a particular part (sore muscle, meat-head hogging the machine, etc.) because you can just swap it out for something else and pick it up again next time.  Also well done on the spring cleaning, I'd be exstatic if I could get my SO to put his clean laundry away....ever! :)

Thanks, I have been working hard on this. It's great to be back in the land of the Rangers. I would get stressed having a definite plan and then find I couldn't get to the power rack or whatever. I'd stand there like a lost sheep, not knowing what to do instead. Now I have many more options and I definitely feel less stressed and like I can get a more intense workout. Win!

Week 3 progress update

1. Handstands

I can now hold a plank on my hands for 40 seconds three times with a short break in between. The first one is easy, the second a bit wobbly, and the third is pretty tough. Practices achieved this week: 5

2. Circuits

Sweaty and feeling good. Loving the kettlebell work and I am doing Academy-style workouts again, with a strength exercise followed by circuits and stretches. Even on the in-between days when I do something cardio, I still make sure to do intervals in some way. Fun. Circuit workouts achieved this week: 5

3. Body love

Body is feeling great. Molly's exercises were tough and one of the days I had very little material / examples to go with but others have been fine. Days of body love achieved this week: 7

4. Clearout

More progress, I have been through the right-hand side of my wardrobe and weeded the things out that are old, out of date or no longer needed. Another bag of stuff has gone to charity and a bag full of stuff has been thrown away.

Overall I feel great about this challenge and have had a brilliant few days. Therefore I am awarding myself an A for this week. I have tried hard, accomplished good things and made great progress towards all my goals. Happy :panda:

wow - great week. Sounds like you're doing magnificently. Well done weeding stuff out of the closet - that's always so hard - I should really take a page from your book and do that myself - again. I find that once you've gone through it once, you can go back and do it again and again and each time you'll be a litte more ruthless. I used to find it so hard to throw anything out, but its getting easier - as my house gets more organized I find its easier and easier to throw things out (as long as the kids aren't around - they want to keep everything - especially my pack rat of a daughter).

Good week!

I actually love circulating through my clothes; mind you most of mine come from charity stores to begin with so it's just like taking them home again. Also I've always got different and exciting clothes!

Typed while drinking tea and not looking.
