xanjra
MINI QUEST: THE PREQUEL Here are some questions to put your goals to the test: Is your overall quest achievable (over a short or long period of time)? Yes. Is it reasonable? Overall yes, I am flexible with the exact end goal weight, but I need to be a lot nearer to it before I get too exacting. Do your 3 main goals all build towards it in little ways, or are you taking on too much? I don't feel my goals are too much. Are your main goals realistic? Yes. Can you scale them to smaller steps to fit your life better, even if it will make it take a little longer to achieve them? They are already broken into small steps. Are your goals able to be measured and tracked? Yes. What will you use to track them? Spreadsheets. My diary. Phone apps. How are you grading your goals? Numerically. Are they pass/fail (“every dayâ€, “not even once over the six weeksâ€)? No. They will be fractions. Is there a reward for the effort, or are you only grading yourself on whether or not you “lose the weight†or “run the distanceâ€? Both effort and results will be rewarded. What is your plan for continuing/altering/grading those goals if you become ill or injured? I have no plan for that. Did you take into consideration any special occasions (Passover, Easter, Cinco de Mayo, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) that may occur during the challenge? What modifications do you need to build into your goals for those? Yes, my birthday is on the 21st. I will give myself some flexibility on that day. Do any of your main goals conflict with each other? Will one goal make it hard to do another? Nope. All clear. Do you already have the time in your schedule to actually complete the goals you’ve set? Yes. Although I am considering getting up earlier to run in the mornings. I like the peace at that time. If not, what are you planning to do to make time for them? Are you trying to build multiple habits, or is all your energy focused on your main quest? Mainly just an exercise habit, my diet has already become a habit. From my last challenge I realised that I need to set a specific time as 'I will do it later' never gets done. I will be doing the 'IF it is 10am, THEN I exercise' strategy. +1 WIS gained! Yay! May 1st- general tso's chicken with broccoli, japanese cutlets, and udon noodles. *much excite* When you say 'working on your house' do you mean general clean up or are you remodeling something? 1 Link to comment
xanjra
*high-fives* I love that you have your meal picked out! Regarding the house; we moved last summer and the place looked like a building site. Nothing structural needs doing but it needs total decoration, including a bit of plastering and carpentry that I do not have the skills to do myself! My biggest problem is that I am an all-or-nothing kind of girl, so when I am focusing on (for example) working out, I eat-sleep-breathe it, looking at websites and writing spreadsheets when I am not actually doing it. What I am trying to do with the house, is make constant progress but not to the detriment of my other goals. So I am planning on doing a couple of hours of decorating every other day, with the in between days being spent doing housework chores (cleaning and washing etc). That way nothing should suffer. *fingers crossed* M x 1 Xanjra - Level 3 - Human STR - 1 / DEX - 1 / STA - 8 / CON - 9 / WIS - 6 / CHA - 4 Challenge - 1 (Rebel) Challenge - 2 (Adventurer) Challenge - 3 (Adventurer) Spoiler Battle Log 2014 UK Support Group Long Term Goals Support 'Rule #1 - Cardio. T2sarahconnor
Nice goals. I agree with the all or nothing mentality and I have had 2 challenges worth of breaking that habit. I would spend too much time on an organized to do list then I would actually doing things. What has worked for me is doing one thing towards my basement remodel each day. It could be as easy as calling the electrician or as hard as installing the baseboards. I unfortunately do know how to do a lot of fix it stuff so I refuse to pay someone elevated prices to do it for me. obsessedfan
Good luck. Your goals look great. I completely understand with your "all or nothing" mentality. I've been dealing with that all my life. "Let's clean the living room. Well first, I have to sweep the floor. I can't get to all the floor. I'd have to move the furniture. Well if I'm going to move the furniture I should get at those baseboards while I'm at it. I should go to the store and get some polish for the wood. Oh, and I need to get at that cobweb in the corner. Where's that step ladder? Well the floors all connect. I can't just do the floor in the living room I really should just get the whole house. Where will I put the furniture from the other rooms? Ah, to hell with it. Let's watch some Doctor Who and forget the whole thing!" xanjra
OMG Day 1 was exhausting! 1. Food - 1200 calories between 12.30 and 8.30. I started the intermittent fasting thing last week to see whether it was something I wanted in my challenge. It is weird, I am actually LESS hungry than I was when I ate all day?! 1200 calories feels like loads when you only have a few hours to eat them. Effectiveness will be determined by the end of challenge weigh in. 2. CC - Push Ups. Still on Level 1 (wall push ups). I think I have been focusing on form, breathing and timing long enough, I will start working on progress. 3. Cardio. The Walk episode completed (72 minutes). Got home reasonably tired and my SO wanted to try a Badminton class at our gym. Please keep in mind that I haven't played since school (and I was crap then!). The class was one and a half hours of sprinting, swinging and chasing the shuttlecock-whatsit! Such fun! This morning all my body parts ache!
