Darkfoxx 10: Allons-y!

I dunno .. because it’s time for Dr. Who .gifs?

This challenge will encompass the final realization of the Big Picture Goal I’ve been working toward for months and months, as well as one of the two ‘back home’ vacations I have planned for this Spring/Summer.

The Big Picture Goal

I’m sticking with my overarching goal - Mudderella. Mudderella is on the 10th and I need to continue what I’m doing in order to be able to finish without dying.

Allons-y!

Goal 1

Fitness, per usual. I will finish my HasFit Hero 90 program 2 weeks into this challenge cycle, and after that I will be increasing my interval training using Zombies, Run! and creating my own program based on the HasFit platform - incorporating 1 day of yoga with 2 days of Zombies, and 2 days of strength training per week.

Goal 2

Stick with my moar metrics agenda. It’s an oldie, but a goodie. Goals are the usual 100 grams or under of carbs, 70 grams or over of protein and 1500 or so calories. I’m still tracking food with My Fitness Pal and exercise, sleep and water intake with the FitBit Flex. Metrics make me happy.

Goal 3

I should probably throw a creativity goal in here … I need to paint some tea towels for my brother’s wedding - and I also would like to finish something — like throw pillow covers, or the dress i started working on 2 years ago. Or that scarf my poor hubbs didn't get to wear this year because I am a slacker. :)

Life Goal

More culling and organizing. Everything fits in the new place just fine thanks to last cycle's cleaning/organizing goal, but I think I’m ready to move toward the type of house look I actually like - minimalism. I have a bunch of stuff I can jettison that I'm only really keeping out of some bizarre sense of 'these are the things people have' and 'I've had this thing for 30 years!' It's time to unload some crap, while keeping in mind that I don't need to get rid of all the things.

And those damn DVDs. I still haven't finished addressing building a user-friendly spreadsheet for those damn DVDs.

Diet Side Goal

Let’s not fall completely apart while on vacation, shall we? I’d like to avoid going crazy this year and feeling like utter shit halfway through the trip because of the amount of crap I’m pouring into my body. This is a pass/fail goal.

First in! No big surprises here, but it all looks good! (I really need to get around to watching Dr. Who /nerdfail)

Love the minimalism goal. There's something much more calming and serene about a lack of STUFF. I need to work on that myself :)

Week 1 Wrapup

I only got 4 out of 5 workouts in, but I'm still going for an A- here. My weekend was gloriously active and my Friday was full of walking and hauling groceries.

Week 2 Wrapup

I only got 4 out of 5 scheduled workouts in, but I'm still going for an A- here. My weekend was gloriously active and my Friday was full of walking and hauling groceries.

Week 3 Wrapup

I did 4 out of 5 scheduled "real" workouts, per my new norm - which is fine. A-.  Grocery hauling and city wandering is a great distance workout, too.

Week 4 Wrapup

I managed to stay a little active and not injure myself pre-race; and I rocked it out at Mudderella. A. BAMF.

Week 5 Wrapup

I'm docking myself down to a C here. Last week was busy, sure, and I really *didn't* have time to work out 3 days - but the motivation just wasn't there for me this week. I need to get geared up for July's muddy zombie run; I need to think about biting the bullet and signing up for a "real" 5k sometime this summer; and I need to get back onto a program. Self-directed workouts (even self-created plans) just don't work for me.

Week 6 Wrapup

F. Abysmal, but expected.

Week 1 Wrapup

I'm going for an A- here, too. I wasn't perfect this week, but I'm not too down about it.

Week 2 Wrapup

I'm going for an A- on this goal, too. I wasn't perfect this week, but I didn't go completely off the reservation.

Week 3 Wrapup

C. Saturday was the craziness.

Week 4 Wrapup

A. I might have had a crazy Saturday, but I earned every. single. calorie.

Week 5 Wrapup

C. I didn't do so hot this weekend. This is not the way to stay in my skinny pants.

Week 6 Wrapup

F. This being a vacation week, I didn't do as badly as I could have. I mitigated where possible, ordering bunless burgers like they were going out of style - but drank waaaaaayyyyyyy too much coffee (though I *did* finally lock in a Starbucks drink that isn't cloyingly sweet - skinny vanilla latte, 1 pump, with soy) and way too much crap (helloooooo soy and fake sugar!)

I felt kind of like poo all week - I'm guessing primarily because I didn't have my morning smoothie - and made some consciously good and consciously bad decisions along the way.

Week 1 Wrapup

This goal is not going to accomplish itself. Fail for the week. Pick it up, or this failing grade is going to stick.

Week 2 Wrapup

Pass for the week - at least I did something.

Week 3 Wrapup

Pass for the week - at least I did something.

Week 4 Wrapup

Pass for the week - I did the bare minimum.

Week 5 Wrapup

Pass for the week - almost done with the towels.

Week 6 Wrapup

Pass for the week - wedding present done hours before leaving for wedding.

Week 1 Wrapup

I did something here at least - A

Week 2 Wrapup

I did a little here - A.

Week 3 Wrapup

I did a bunch here - A

Week 4 Wrapup

Fail. I didn't really think about doing anything here.

Week 5 Wrapup

Fail. I didn't really think about doing anything here.

Week 6 Wrapup

Fail. I didn't really think about doing anything here.

Diet Side Goal

Let’s not fall completely apart while on vacation, shall we? I’d like to avoid going crazy this year and feeling like utter shit halfway through the trip because of the amount of crap I’m pouring into my body. This is a pass/fail goal.

Pre-challenge weekend update:

Friday

Skipped out on my HasFit workout because of Spring Fever - went for a walk instead.

Breakfast - Smoothie & tea

Lunch - The very last of the Momofuku pork + zoodles + eggs in a frittata-ish thing topped with some kale pesto. It actually worked out. I was surprised

Dinner - Tacos - 1 barbacoa, 1 chorizo and 1 al pastor

Snacks - almonds & a hard cider at a post-dinner bar

Calories: 1,481, Carbs: 100, Fat: 63, Protein: 68, Sugar: 37

I squeaked by by the skin of my teeth on carbs and fell just short of the mark on protein. Good thing I had a protein-heavy lunch. And no chips at dinner.

Calories in: 1481, vs. Calories out: 1718

Forgot to log sleep

47 active minutes

3.65 miles / 9,027 steps

Drank all my water

Saturday

Walked, walked and walked some more - my usual fully-loaded grocery trip + a wander to and around the Brooklyn Flea and then some extra wandering to get lunch and a slow march home.

Breakfast - 4 ounces porchetta at the Brooklyn Flea

Lunch - buffalo burger (patty only) with sweet potato fries

Dinner - wasn't hungry

Snack - Steve's scotch chocolate non-dairy ice cream

Calories: 930, Carbs: 60, Fat: 65, Protein: 71, Sugar: 24

Whoo hoo! I hit my protein goal. Barely counts.

Forgot to log my sleep again

930 Calories In vs. 2115 Calories Out

94 active minutes

6.99 miles / 17,262 steps

Drank all my water

Sunday

More walking! We did brunch and then set our sights for a movie theater that was 2 miles away - walked there and back in the nice Spring sun.

Breakfast - A crazysuperfantastic brunch - a skillet with roasted lamb shank, potatoes, carrots, and peas, topped with whipped feta, tomato jam and a fried egg. Ridiculously good. With coffee.

Lunch - Still full from breakfast

Dinner - Burger patty with sweet potato fries and 1 ounce smoked mozzarella cheese

Snacks - 1/2 a pint of OmNomNomegag (I know that name isn't right) 'Take the Black' stout for GoT night

Calories: 1,598, Carbs: 97, Fat: 85, Protein: 109, Sugar: 16

No complaints here. Beer can be had on a weekend, provided everything else is in line - and it was. Whoo!

8 hours 17 minutes of sleep - awake 0x, restless 9x

1598 Calories In vs. 1885 Calories Out

95 active minutes

5.16 miles / 12,782 steps

Drank all my water

Look At That! I Drank All My Water This Weekend! Whoo Hoo!

Lol. I was actually thinking while I was eating it that you may be jealous :)

And yeah... that porchetta was ridiculous. I'm not sure it was really *worth* $8 for 4 ounces of meat, but it was damn good nonetheless. And the skin ... omfg. I forgot how much I love porchetta.

I love that you think of me while face down in your foodie indulgences :P I'm honoured. But also jealous. Very jealous. I don't know what it is - I LOVE lamb when someone else cooks it, but it's only mediocre when I do. I guess I need to work on my technique.

HaHaHa. I thought about Facebooking a picture, but was too busy eating to pause. This place is freaking ridiculous - the hubbs had some sort of duck poutine with Spanish cheese. Holy crap amazing. And we walked there in the sun. We've passed this particular place a few times and it always seems packed to the gills. It's a Mediterranean joint focusing it looks like more Spanish and that direction of the Mediterranean food - with just enough on the menu that the hubbs can probably eat to get us back in the doors. He can't do Greek food - the spice mix they use on meat (and that was on my lamb, actually) makes him really sick.

As for lamb, I do a mean rack but haven't really tackled any other parts of the lamb, save for ground meat. I usually do a rack for Easter - but this year, I think I'll do blade chops to fit in the budget. I'd love to tackle a shank or something, but the hubbs is kinda funny about lamb - he loves a nice rack, but sometimes the lambiness is too much for him if it's a slow cooked cut.

Joy: Of course I'd totally rather cheer *you* on, too as your own person and not a shadowy extension of BC - but if baby steps is what you've got, baby steps is better than nothing! :)
