Continuing Main Quest:
Under 200 Lbs by 30th birthday (12/04/14).

Mini Quests:

1. Get Stronger [sTR +3]
Increased upper body strength through Push-Ups, Pull-Ups, Chin-Ups, Bench Press, DB Fly, etc.

A = 10+ Pull-Ups In A Row
B = 5 Pull-Ups In A Row
C = 10 Chin-Ups In A Row
D = 5 Chin-Ups In A Row
F = <5 Chin-Ups In A Row

2. Run Faster [DEX +3] [sTA +3]
Beat high school best 1 mile time of 8:00/Mi through interval training and increased mileage.

A = Faster than 8:00/Mi
B = 8:00-8:30/Mi
C = 8:30-9:00/Mi
D = 9:00-9:30/Mi
F = Slower than 9:30/Mi

3. Clean Eating [CON +3] [WIS +1]

F = Saved <$250

Starting Stats (14 Apr 2014):
Weight 218.6 lbs
Waist 42"
Hips 42"
Chest 40.5"
Biceps 15.5" & 15.5"
Legs 25" & 25"
Calves 16" & 16"
Neck 15.5"

After a rough end to the last challenge, I'm back at it with new goals, new drive, and greater success.

I have revised the grading system to be more encouraging, as the points system last time did not work. No more daily goals, instead focusing on weekly averages to maintain morale and focus.

I'm also not going to follow 30+ people like last time, as I ended up reading everyone's posts many days later and without contributing much. This approach will make me a better community member by being more producer than consumer.

The focus of my workouts is on doing upper body workouts at home with dumbbells (Bench, Fly, Shoulder Press, Front Raise...etc) during the evenings (commercials lol) roughly every other day, and Interval running in the mornings before work. I'll be eating a loosely paleo diet, with the main emphasis being on more vegetables.

I considered adding a Walking Dead / Survival theme to this challenge like I have done in the past, but don't want to get too distracted by this.

Add 20 pounds and you have my main goal/quest as well.  I want to be more fit by 30 that I was at 15 (which can ACTUALLY happen).

Looks good :)

Thanks Teros! Have you posted your challenge yet so I can follow along?

Looks like a great challenge, I wish I could say I had a "by 30" goal, sadly I didn't get into after turning 30, had some success and then dropped out for a couple years. Judging by your current weight under 200lbs by december should be relatively easy and I wouldn't be surprised if you end up hitting that goal early. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone!

I tried some chin ups today on my homemade pull-up bar. Knocked out 4 chin ups and 0 pull-ups. Then barely managed one more chin up.

Not amazing, but one more and I'm on the scoreboard.

Went back for another try while cooking dinner. My current 1 set max is sitting solidly at 4 Chin-Ups. So that goal and grading is feeling accurate.

I was only able to squeeze in 4 Fruit/Veg today, so that goal might be a little rough on me. As long as one of my meals each day is a salad, this challenge won't be too bad.

I've set the bar high, but I know I can do this. See you all tomorrow when I tell you about my AM run tomorrow!

an easy way i've fit in more fruit is a smoothie/shake in the morning.

as i'm paleo it's coconut milk, half a banana, a kiwifruit, handful froz berries, 4 slices of peaches.

since i wake up so early i've found it's great for a post early morning work out, and i have a small breakfast about 3 hours later

Good luck! It is kind of uncanny how similar our measurements are. And age for that matter (I just turned 30). You have have said this somewhere before, but where are you going in Europe?

I know it is strange!

We are going to Barcelona, Nice, Paris, Somerset, and London. My wife and I both have family over there and haven't been since before we were married. This is kind of like a second honeymoon (2 years later).

I have also found that smoothies and salads have helped me reach those fruit/veggie goals at first. Or I try carry veggies for snacks.

Great goals.  I particularly love the "run faster" one.  When I was on my university cheerleading team, that was really one thing that I needed to train more for our fitness testing.  I'm not a fan of running, and it's hard for me to try to "train faster".

That trip sounds fantastic.  Any plans on how you're going to save the money?  I have a part time job (teaching fitness classes) that I put that money into a separate account which is my travel savings so that when opportunities come up I have some savings, and then I have another account which $50 a month gets transferred from my chequing account to that savings account as kinda a "emergency/I'm dumb" account.

Have a marvelous Tuesday!

I mince or blend it into the meal (peppers and onions in my sloppy joes, spinach in my meatsauce on top of spaghetti squash.)

Also- making plantain chips.  Awesome little snack if you cook up a bunch of them at once. Just make sure you dab off the olive oil or else they'll get soggy.

Thanks! We got some of the travelling between different destinations figured out on Sunday, so just a couple hotels to book now. Getting really excited.

Happy Tuesday! I don't love running yet, but since I'm seeing the results, I'm happy to keep it in my goals. Saving money shouldn't be hard. Mainly it's just cutting down on frivolous items, drinking much less when going out (which helps with the diet too!), taking lunches to work (Saves $10+ per day!), and moving money from my checking account to my online savings account. Hoping to do at least $100 per week, which is easy.

I've also stopped using my credit card (I'm not even carrying it anymore) and will soon have that guy all paid off and all cards zeroed out.

I haven't made plantain chips before, kale was awesome, sweet potato went from raw to burned in a second...my results with making snacks like this has been wildly varied.

I got in my AM run on Monday Morning. 1 minute run/walk intervals. Average pace of 9:52/Mi. Going back out again tomorrow morning.

Monday I managed to get in 8 servings of produce, and if I finish my salad and banana for lunch today I'll already be at 7.

Plus I've still got an orange and apple at my desk for later. We'll be cooking fish for dinner so I'll be adding some sort of produce then as well.

I realized that I hadn't made a plan for how I'll be getting strong enough to improve on pull ups, so I'll be knocking out a set when I first get home and then doing some weights tonight after dinner.

Friday is a day off, so I'm planning to go for a much longer run then. I'm actually looking forward to it!

Edited to show time per Mile, not per Kilometer.

Have you thought about a food dehydrator?  I know some people use that for making trail mix. Could probably do the same for some vegetables?

Funny I do the same thing. Have a savings account and an emergency/I'm dumb account that $20 a fortnight goes into automatically.

Sounds like you are doing awesome so far in this challenge. I booked my annual holiday last night. This year it's Vanuatu for some sun and laziness.
