I just need to get back into the habit of turning to those in the afternoon. Which is my weak time of day.

I can substitute but it's holding on to the habits when I'm tired/stressed/ill and getting back onto the horse after falling off that I find difficult.

My problem time is definitely once it's dark out. As soon as the sun goes down I just want to do evil things like order a pizza.  It's also because I think I've linked relaxing at the end of the day with junk food; so it's always a time when I get antsy.

It's almost 6pm right now and I'm almost starting to feel like that- which is why I'm on the forums.

In the evenings staying busy works for me. Keeping my hands occupied so they arent putting food in my mouth. By the time Ive finished work, done my run and my ride, fed and watered the furbabies, cleaned the litter trays and done some housework, I grab my pre measured dinner and heat and eat...then I grab my latest creative project and work on that for the (maybe) half hour to an hour before bed while I relax. Dont have a chance to eat bad things then.

In the afternoons at work its a bit trickier but Ive gotten into the habit that at a certain time I eat my apple and almonds with a cup of black tea - regardless of if Im hungry (my hungry signals dont work very well) I only bring fruit and nuts to work to snack on and Ive gotten very good at blocking temptation with anything else thats available ('I dont eat that kind of thing' - not 'cant', 'dont' - the way you word it to yourself is important)

Water, water, water. Not just when you have a snack attack. All day long. I have gone back to making sure I drink 1 L before noon ( after my cup of Java) 1L between noon and 4-5 and then 1 more before bed. I still have a glass of wine 2-3 times a week and I can't have it if I didn't drink the water. When I slacked last challenge I noticed that the late afternoon/evening munchies came back.

That's why I hop on the forums. I can either want to eat kit-kats, or I can see how awesome people are doing and feel better.

Agree 100%.  Once something becomes, "I can't." or 'not allowed', there's the instant taboo to break it.  I've heard from someone that it's kind of like the 'bad boy syndrome'.  You shouldn't be dating that guy- ergo, instantly want to do exactly that. I have a mini based on self-talk but I'll see if that's this challenge or the next one. So many ideas!

Hope everyone's having a good Wednesday :)

My weakness is crisps, potato chips to those outside the UK.

Mine as well. I crave the salt terribly sometimes and I'm actually eating some now and I just ate dinner. I have yet to find an acceptable substitute.

I had to break my habit with salt. I've never been a heavy salter in general, but on certain foods I can't get enough. Potatoes in any form and pasta are my main culprits. I got to the stage of putting soy sauce on my chips and then wondered why I was so thirsty...These days I have an occasional sprinkle of sea salt as a treat, and have cut back on the soy sauce habit.

I've not found a good substitute for crisps. Again, I use them as a treat rather than not allowing myself any, and while I'm tracking calories only if it doesn't take me over my limit.

Hello! I am an adventurer as I cannot make up my mind on what else I could be. I want to be a warrior druid. Someday. I want to be strong and lean, and I would love to stop eating meat if I can.

This is my first challenge here and it has been a rocky start for me, and not as in the movie Rocky where Sylvester Stallone kills it, but as in the Rocky Mountains rocky. Or, sit down you're rockin' the boat rocky. Not good is what I'm saying. But, we press on! Right? RIGHT?! :)

I love potato chips (really potatoes in any form) and I too continue to search for something that is close to the same. I can get through a whole bag of family sized chips in a day if I'm not careful - mindless eating has been a huge fault of mine. I try now to be very conscious of the food I'm putting into my mouth. Some days it works, some days it doesn't. Popped makes a good alternative, and air popped popcorn with some sea salt has helped me.

I just came across this quote from the actor Jim Carey (graduating from Uni?!).  The last sentence was ...

'You can fail at what you don't want.  So you might as well take a chance at doing what you love.'

It struck me as being quite lovely so I thought I would share it with you.

I've been here at adventure land for a year :)  I always thought I would end up going towards the rangers guild or something.  Maybe, I still will someday.

I'm planning on getting a food dehydrator in the near future. I've heard people salt eggplant and turn them into chips, along with other fruits and veggys. For now- to cure my 'crunch' cravings, I have some sweet potato chips that don't have anything gross in them along with some tuna fish.  That's my movie-snack when I'm watching terrible horror movies like GhostQuake, and BloodShed.

'You can fail at what you don't want.  So you might as well take a chance at doing what you love.'

I think it boils down to fear. People are afraid and don't want to fail with something they love, so instead they keep it preserved as a pristine dream and think 'some day.'  I'm tired of pushing things back in life. We only have this time to be here to be passionate about something- so seize the day and go for it!

For anyone doing push-ups, check out Push-up Quidditch! Pick your house and position, then battle the other houses for the cup. In the end we will all hurt, but be stronger from the battle.

Yup, my Mario Kart bodyweight accountability group is full but there's also T2SarahConnor's 500 club as well.  The more joining groups, the merrier.  Don't forget pvp groups guys and gals:

I think this is a big point behind why they say to use "Don't" instead of "Can't" like "I don't eat kit-kats" vs "I can't eat kit-kats" , the don't would usually yield better results. All about mindset and how different words can affect that.

I have strength and I have power, and I can achieve my goals!

If I say it enough I can learn to mean it, yes?

You have no idea what you're capable of until you have a go. I constantly surprise myself by doing things I never thought I could. Im sure you will too.

Yes.  Society hammers you down with 'cants' and 'donts'.  It's time to fight back with a hearty YES.

Hi everyone,

I'm Sacculina. I'm in the L1 club, mainly because I haven't finished a single challenge to date. I've started a challenge more than twice, but I seem to let my piorities get in the way. All will change now.

I was told that I could come in here, get to know people, ask questions, or simply hang out. So I figured I would just sneak over and say hello!

Just to forwarn you, I like to cook so my challenge page may have a lot of food references in it. I'm paleo/primal (sometimes I can't resist cheese and plain yogurt), so it shouldn't be too bad, but I don't want to cause people issues.

Can't wait to meet all of you. :D

Trust me, people on the forums love food porn.  Post them here too.

Welcome!  A lot of people also chat in the Mini-Challenges thread. That's the place were there are small 1 week only mini goals to try and accomplish.
