Jittersthe.Clown
"The way we choose to see the world creates the world we see" I'm going to be keeping this challenge as simple as I can. I am up against a writing deadline, a birthday party for my soon to be 3 year old, 2 races and 3 stained glass projects all before this is over. I must remember that I have created a world for myself of my choosing. I will no longer let my health suffer because "I am too busy". With that in mind, I present to you, my challenge, in musical form: "Take your time. Think a lot. Why, think of everything you've got" - Cat Stevens - "Father and Son"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q29YR5-t3ggI'm rushing through my meditation recently. I will end that and give it the time and attention it deserves. This will be done more than the 3 days a week I've been averaging. Meditation per week:7: A6: B5: C4: D3 or less: F "I can lead a nation with a microphone" - Flobots - "Handlebars" I noticed something last week. I really don't care about my job. I was on the phone with a customer and I really wasn't selling them on my company. I was getting an order. This bothers me a great deal. I once had a passion for sales in that I could show people that what I was talking about is important. That some things are worth the extra money spent. A job done well is better than a job done quickly. Midway through the call, I remembered that I have an amazing voice for sales. Not just the pitch and tone, but I have a way with words that borders on a talent and I am squandering it. I tapped that part of me again and I felt awake for the first time in over a year. It resulted in 2 new projects for my company. If I am to be stuck here, wasting what I know to be my valuable time, then I am going to be great at it. I've been a huge slacker. I haven't gone more than 10 feet on it. Well, by the end of the six weeks, I'll have had 3-4 parades that have gone by. Too many for me not to have been riding it. As you mentioned, making goals about what you need instead of just fitness thing is very mindful. Making goals for work is a wonderful idea. It will make the daily grind more interesting and less soul slurping. One unofficial goal for myself for the next challenge is to be more active on the boards. It's great that you want to make the most of work, but if I'm truly honest, I still think it's squandering your talents. Your goal about your job is excellent and really touched a cord. I am struggling myself in that area. Thanks for the reminder that my own attitude has a lot to do with my experience! I look forward to seeing how you go! I am quite interested in how I do with this myself. I know that it's all in the attitude, but this place seems to just drain you of wanting to care. It breaks most people after a few years. We just had one guy retire after 49 years of working here and he was one of the most bitter men towards this place I have ever met. I do not want to become that. That book is awesome by the way, if anyone is looking for a good read to kids. Or you know, because they like kids books... I have no idea if this worked, but it's supposed to be a gif of a cat flying through a curtain. It made me laugh so I thought I would share I stared at it for a good few minutes before I read down and found I had to click on it. And I empathize with that cat. I've had days like that... Lolol. It works, but only if you click on the image. Also, more cats: This one always makes me laugh for no good reason. I'm not a cat guy, but it's still funny. Hah! That's adorable! And go, Jitters! Wheeee unicycle!Thank you Mistress. I am looking forward to the challenge as well. I agree with you completely. I am squandering my talents here. Try as I might, the ideas get stuck in my head, I try to write them down and nothing happens. I've been trying like hell to get somewhere I don't have the life-like distractions where I can try to write, but, alas, it's not to be. I had wanted to become a teacher from an early age, but I don't know that I wanted it enough. I say that because I'm not one. I would love to teach 5-8th graders. Motivational speaker seems like something I could do, but I haven't researched how to become one yet. I want exactly what you said; to use my voice to make the world a better place. It's why I consider politics as a serious move for me. For now, I shall be contented knowing that I am helping people here in my own small ways. From talking to people who actually author as a full-time career, apparently Neil Gaiman is right - it's a little disconcerting to know that a man with a clipboard will never show up at your door and tell you that they've finally found you, and you're to go to a real job and wear a tie.I wouldn't mind the tie; I rock ties (call it Stockholm syndrome from my private high school, if you will), but I still find it a little scary that the world expects me to feed myself and buy my own clothes and make decisions about where the money I have leftover at the end of the month (hah. Money left over. Hahahaha) goes. And that unicycle? So much win. It's the pink that makes it, I think. 1 Previous challenges: (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) Link to comment
