Introduction:  I posted an introduction in the newbie forums, and I think it's a really fun look into who I am and where I'm at--it even includes pictures from our game-themed wedding.  The thread can be found HERE.  In a nutshell, I'm 27, overweight, and unhappy about that fact.  Struggles include a "bad back" and lazy gamer tendencies.


 


Main Quest:  Lose 65 pounds overall, to make it to goal weight of 180. 


 


Quest 1: Pack a Paleo lunch 5 days per week.  We eat out a lot, and eat quite a few carbs, and spend quite a bit of money.  This should help with all of the above.


Measurement: A = Packed lunch, 30 days, B = Packed lunch, 25 days, C = Packed lunch, 20 days


Reward: A = +3 WIS, +2 CON, B = +2WIS, +1 CON, C = +1WIS


 


Quest 2: Complete Physical Therapy 5 days per week.  This is a recommendation to rehabilitate my back, so there's really no compromise, here. 


Measurement: A = 30 days therapy, B = 25 days therapy, C = 20 days therapy


Reward: A = +3 STR, B = +2 STR, C = +1 STR


 


Quest 3: Go for a walk, 15+ minutes daily.  I'm fairly sedentary, so this will help start building the habit.


Measurement: A = walked 15+, 30 days, B = walked 15+, 25 days, C= walked 15+, 20 days


Reward: A = +3 STA, B = +2 STA, C = +1 STA


 

 


Life Quest: Get out of debt 


     Goal 1:  Track expenses in YNAB every day


Measurement: A = 42 days, B = 36 days, C = 30 days


Reward: A = +2 CHA, B = +1CHA, C = +0.5 CHA


 


Motivation: I'm tired of being ashamed of my body, and more-so, I'm tired of being in pain daily.  Losing weight will help with both of these.

Hi Aminarra!! Your goals so und really similar to my first challenges. I started with a focus on Paleo and walking. Both had led to great places for me!! Will paleo be a new adventure, or is it somehthing you have experimented with in the past?

Paleo is going to be a NeW aDvEnTuRe for us.  It's honestly been really difficult to make the transition so far.  I think our biggest issues are going to be dairy and grains.  The grains has been okay so far because there are SO many alternatives, but both my husband and I love cheese, and that's going to be hard to give up lol :P In all actuality, we probably won't give up on the dairy products because they sit well with both of us, so there's no real reason to.  I'm cutting back on cheese, though.

Thanks Arya!! You welcomed me in my other threads, too, thanks for subscribing to this thread :) I'm excited for the challenge and I'll be updating frequently.  I make sure to at least update my battlelog daily (so far).

Day 1 for me is going well - I'm batch cooking so that I can have paleo lunches the rest of the week.

Looks like a good first day .... What did you cook? Was it stir fry, or soup, or..... ?!?

 

Heya - I'm currently cooking the following: 

 

 - roast (traditional, with celery, carrots, onion, and something that I thought was sweet potato but is actually white inside)

 - bbq beef (it's marinading at the moment, but it'll get slow cooked just like the roast)

 - Grilled chicken (for a variety of uses)

 - Stir Fry (lots of it)

 

:D Should last the whole week and then some!  I'm planning to freeze some as well.

There is actually a sweet potato that has purple skin and white flesh.  Tastes pretty much the same as the orange one people are more familiar with.

Ah! Thanks for the encouragement :D  Last night's dinner was amazing - BBQ Pulled Beef on Lettuce Boats served with Strawberries:

Quest 1: Pack a Paleo lunch 5 days per week. - Completed - had an egg for breakfast with a Naked Juice, I have another egg, Chicken Stir Fry, mixed nuts with dried fruits, strawberries, and mixed fruit (strawberries, pineapple, and banana) as well.  It's a little fruit-heavy, but not bad :D

I wish you success on your first challenge. How much time are you giving yourself to lose the 65 lbs? 6 weeks would be a nightmare. 12-18 sounds like a healthier pace. Sorry if I missed the timeframe goal. Good food ideas though. :)

Thanks for dropping in!! Boy, you aren't kidding--65 lbs in 6 weeks is INSANE! Actually I'm being very kind to myself and looking forward to losing only about 6 pounds for my first challenge :D  That's only about a pound per week and seems totally doable.  I'm not in it for quick fixes, so hopefully I'll be around for many more challenges :) 

 

Do you have your challenge thread set up?  I'd love to check it out :D

That's awesome :D That was such a fun graphic to see this morning. 

 

Here are my updates from yesterday/today so far: 

 

Quest 1: Pack a Paleo lunch 5 days per week - This was accomplished yesterday, per my post, and today too :) I'm having grilled salmon with mixed veggies (zucchini and bell peppers).

 

Quest 2: Complete Physical Therapy 5 days per week. - This was a miss yesterday, and I have no excuses.  Definitely doing this tonight.  My back is so sore that I'm absolutely crabby today.

 

Quest 3: Go for a walk, 15+ minutes daily. - This was accomplished yesterday, and today!  I've been hitting the treadmill desk at the office to help loosen up my lumbar muscles.  Today, I'm also going on a 30 minute walk with a co-worker, so that's awesome.

 

 

Life Quest: Get out of debt 

     Goal 1:  Track expenses in YNAB every day - This was a miss yesterday.  Someone remind me to do this tonight... >_>
