starpuck
"You should give up... on me giving up!" Time to get serious. Ok, really, time to find a way to get to the point where I never have to say 'time to get serious' again. I have had success in the past getting healthy; getting to a good athletic weight, getting strong, eating clean, being awesome. Something always derails me at some point, I slip, backslide, get stressed, get frustrated - something! And then I start giving up. No more giving up. Naruto doesn't give up. From now on , neither does Starpuck!! Itadakimasu"What I like is ramen, especially the kind at the Ichiraku Ramen shop. What I dislike is the three minute wait after you pour in the boiling water. My hobbies are eating ramen." -Naruto Eating. Things that worked? Eating clean, in reasonable portions and exercising. What didn't? Counting calories, points, macros, denying certain foods. How the hell do I grade this? Simple. Naruto loves eating, but he also works his butt off. He eats enough to keep him fueled, but doesn't spend his sad, angry, emotional, bored moments eating more. Bottom line, I know if I've had a sensible eating day or not. So the target is to have only 1 non-sensible eat days per week. Or, reverse that, 6 sensible days per week. If I am mowing the lawn, running a 5k and playing hockey? Guess what? A milkshake isn't so crazy on that day. Having one after Mcdonalds breakfast, tacos, chips, salsa and candy bars? Different story. GOAL #1 EAT SENSIBLE 6 DAYS PER WEEK Training Time"Let's sweat our young sweat together!" - Rock Lee Honestly, exercise is the easy part. Only difference is this time around there will be no 'I have to do this' or it 'must be this workout on this day'. Just move. Every day. Except for one. One day to rest and recoup. Vary the workouts. Hockey, running, boxing, strength training ... hell get some yoga in there because you're stiff as a board Starpuck. But move and sweat 6 days a week. GOAL #2 MOVE YOUR BODY 6 DAYS A WEEK Curb your Kyuubi "Hey Nine-Tails, I wanna get rid of all that hate of yours someday!" - Naruto Lately, I've been finding myself more prone to bad moods, snapping on people, being grouchy and otherwise in a funk. I don't like it. I don't want to be that way. I need to find a way to cool that rage-beast down inside of me. (Not that I even know where it came from.) I need to get back on a better path with my faith. I've put church and study aside for other things just because it's summer. Granted, sometimes I won't be able to make a Sunday service, but I need to get my nose into things that are working to fill up the tank of goodness, rather than just keep depleting it until I turn into a nine-tailed demon fox. GOAL #3 CHURCH OR CHURCH ALTERNATIVE AT LEAST 1X A WEEK Ok, there's a few more things to tack on here, but it will have To Be Continued ... I <3 you all so much. Thanks for finding me and tagging along. I think I am going to need lots of help this go around as I am starting on a rather bad foot. After careful thinking, I've decided to leave it as simple as it is. Three goals. 6/6/1. They are very straight forward, easy to track, but ARE adding up to many days per week of having to do something a certain way, or accomplish this thing or that thing. starpuck
Starting Up on Day 1 So, yesterday was my nephew's birthday part. He turned 11. And I love that kid. I'm the tough, strong, athletic, young at heart aunt, so I rough house with the boys. He's about 80lbs now, but he honestly doesn't feel heavy at all. So when he ran at me, launched himself into the air and said 'CARRY ME!' of course I did. I sat him on one arm and carried him around like a ... I don't even know. I was pretty surprised I did it to be honest. I sat him on my bicep and carried him one-armed. Soooo what that means is, today? I am sore as hell! LOL. My neck and shoulders are super stiff. My hips are sore from hockey. And my shins from last Friday's run. Definitely think yoga needs to be incorporated. Do not like this stiffness developing. So, going to head out for a walk/run and play it by ear. Tomorrow it is due to rain so I can hit the warehouse gym. Food, so far so good. But I am now debating if I should try using my fitness pal to make sure I am not UNDER eating. 1 Level 83 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. starpuck
I'm loving all the Monk in your challenge! Anywho! I know how you feel with the crazy soreness. I too am the token aunt that will get rough with The Boys and end up paying for it. OHGAWDIMOLD!! I'm not that old in my brain. I still think Im like 22. :/ Nice job there getting your run on! Weren't satisfied with just that mile at lunch were ya? WERE YA?!?! That's why we are brain buddies. Wut? Wut monk? Just because I have a ninja from my favorite anime as my theme? I love Naruto. He is so awesome. He had all the crappiest crap crap growing up, but he never let it get him down, and he makes everyone else believe in themselves more just by being an example. And yeah, I'm 26 for. ev. er. *nodnod* Someday I want to be able to run and enjoy it. I mostly wasn't satisfied with not getting enough steps, so did another up and down on our street. >.> You better! Considering we're coming to your city in September.<3 Yes yes, I am working on it. But no rucks! Funk dat! Eeeeeeeee! FOODS YES! Starpuck loves the foods. And lifting? Eeeehmmm, maybe? If I get over this recurrence of being all fatso-slobbo. 1 Level 83 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. All things worth keeping are." starpuck
So, after a bit of perusing my NF Academy workouts, and because I don't want to have to over-think what I am doing-- I've decide for the sake of not feeling discouraged, and for having an actual program to follow, I will begin with the Barbell Battalion Rank 1. I have all that equipment in my whse gym, so I should be able to follow it along and regain some of my lost progress. Plus, starting at the bottom might make me feel really good if I manage to complete it. As opposed to starting in the middle and failing out on it. The real hurdle is yet to come though. IE. THE MENTAL HURDLE of OMG I SUCK AT THIS NOW, I USED TO BE ABLE TO DO IT, WHY I SUCH A LOSER! There is no past, there is only today and tomorrow. 1 Level 83 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. All things worth keeping are."
