Capt_JonMorgan's First Challenge. Shiny Firefly Theme

Recommended Posts

Introduction:  Hello There my name is Jonathan, I discovered Nerd Fitness a few days ago and found it incredibly enlightening and an different approach to fitness. I haven't been on fourms in a long time so pardon my nievity but I wanted to give this a try. I saw June 9th and thought it was July 9th *facepalm* oh well, I'll call it a mini challenge and get to know some folks.

I'm an ectomorph body type which means I'm a lean, mean metabolism machine I burn through food and adreneline like nobody's business. Because of this I get extremely fatiqued and tierd and it's hard for me to build muscle. I've had to make some serious changes to my diet and lifestyle. I used to run cross country and track in high school, but after attending University didn't participate in organized sports, I also injured both my ankles and had to limit running, but have been strenghening them lately and seeing improvement. I'm semi muscular & I can hold my weight but want to improve and not feel tierd all the time. I also want to form good habits in the excercise and sleep department and put on some muscle. I'd love to eventually train to become an Assassin who lives a duel life as a Druid. (for the sake of this game)

My Nerd interests: I'm a musican and singer songwriter (I play ukulele), I'm also big fan of Firefly,

My Theme: I chose to do a firefly themed  mental workout goal/game  to make this fun for me and to see how the community would respond, interpret it and possibly help build it. I'll be developing it as I complete what I'm calling my "training week". My favorite heros and characters have always been the ones that use their wit strength, humor and yes sometimes money to become great people. The Green Arrow, Iron man and the cast of firefly being among my favorites because they feel obtainable. ( & I don't have to get struck by cosmic rays or bit by spiders)

I love the idea of "simplistic" workouts that are incredibly effective using your own body wieght/ the world as your gym, it's just feels cohesive and incredible to me. Things like parkour,  yoga, dance, are  incredibly appealing to me though I still need to practice the parkour and dance..(okay yoga too)

Firefly is a human story about real people dealin with the same problems we do today they just happen to be in the future and have a spaceship. It's an underdog story about different people from all walks of life put together trying to find innner peace and survive, also they're a rebellion. ( seriously though I wrote a whole paper on this but I'll spare you)

So whata say "You ever Sail in a firefly?" "Wanna?"

We need crew to endure this long journey filled with assorted jobs and such to worlds and places wonderous and the like, but.. crew must be of able body and mind,  so you have till July 20th to begin your prep for travel, begining with an excercise routine specific to being "on the go". Seriously you can do this anywhere, so. use it. yoga and meditation are also suggested to get in the right mind set for our sort of work, so find your zen, your sense of place or your spiritual fuzzy wuzzys.

If you have ideas for how to help me develop my workout, theme or next challenge, I'd love to hear them!

Hey Jonathan! I've never watched Firefly, but you mentioned a spaceship? :) Your story idea is pretty cool -- training week sounds very military, which is always awesome. I'd be very motivated too if I could slap a 'military' label on the training (or 'spaceship').

Very fortunate for you to be an ectomorph. >:c I'm a little envious about that. It's probably the best body type for body weight sports. Another one you can try is rock climbing! It's traveler-friendly (I get the impression you travel a lot, hotel room workouts and all?).

Good luck in your quest for Shiny!

Thanks so much for your response myrlien, I'm never one of those guys who gets mad at people for not watching, a show or movie but I sincerely reccomend it.

Unforunately motivation is one of the biggest things I struggle with, and yes I love to travel...I'm hoping to get into the habit of doing this workout before the challenge week coming up. I like rock climbing, I'll have to find a placeto practice.

Thanks again for your response I wish you the best in your quest as well.

In honor of level 1 of my firefly challenge I bring you Dr. Simon Tam.

Simon is very concerned about his priorites and is new to the crew, in a fight I'd say Simon still has some work to do.

My motivation has been very limited these past few days and my goal to perform the hotel workout everyday hasn't ben going as planned. I go to work and come home tired not wanting to work out.

That's Why Dr. Tam is the First level for my upcoming challenge week. a medical professional, he strives to be healthy but is new to some of the the crew and their ways.

I did the hotel workout this evening under less than enough food...and boy did it whoop me. First day back and I felt it. all I could think was....tumblr_lz5br92PxW1qd5zkno1_500.gif

Here's to getting in a few more before the challenge week!
