[Katastrophenkatzchen] What class is a kitty?

Recommended Posts

Still under construction!

Katastrophenkatzchen stood in front of the wooden cottage and waited for her turn. Once the guard called her in, she took a deep breath and slowly walked in.

With a deep, respectfull bow she greeted Vol'jin who asked her to come nearer.

„I've heard of you from several trolls even over in Pandaria“, he started. „It's said that you want to be part of the soldiers of the horde, but you are still young and – please excuse the offence saying- not very skilled. What are you saying to those remarks?“

„Sir, I started training and yes, I didn't come very far since starting but I'm clearly progressing! I just haven't found the right training for myself.“, she imidiatly repeated. This didn't sound good, if she leaved the expression of not being fit to do some tasks she would be left behind.

„Well, this is indead a problem... don't worry, most of the young soldiers happen to have this problem so we encourage them to pick a class. Have you thought about what class you want to be?“

Katastrophenkatzchen was happy... this was a question she could answer clearly: „Yes sir! I'm a kitten!“, she said proudly.

„A kitten? What class is that?“, he asked confused.

She turned red. „ A druid sir.“- „Ahhh a druid. I like having druids in my army, they are so versatile. So tell me, little kitten, why am I saying druids are versatile?“

She chewed her lip while thinking. „Because they can learn multiple forms?“-“Indeed! Now tell my the forms and what they stand for.“, he encouraged her.

She sit up straight and counted them on her fingers. „Well first there is the cat form. It's fierce and it gets less damage from falling because it's so flexible. Second, there is the travel form... nice to have if you don't have a mount. Ehhh, there is the bear form too“, she said, while Vol'jin was nooding satisfied, „It's strong and protects others. The balance druids are often called the owls, so one could say it's the owl form, right? They bring balance to night and day. And the last one... ehh... the tree form! Restauration druids can turn into trees, right? They are great, they can heal!“, she said dreamy.

„Exactly, well done. So, you declare yourself a druid, but are just training one aspect of yourself. Maybe that's the problem. You need variety and mental health but don't try to do everything at once. Pick small quests to train different aspects of yourself and you will be fine“, he smiled. „I think I could have use for a soldier like you, especially since you are a trailor. We always need trailors in war.

If I can see serious progress in your training in 6 weeks, I take you with me on my next adventure with the horde.“, he promised.

„Thank you sir. I won't disappoint you!“

He smiled again. „Now go and think about your training. I'll see you in 6 weeks in Orgrimmar.“

Main Quest - Go with Vol'jin.

... ehh I mean loose 20 pounds by September 7th (catch-up-net: October, 26th)

To fit in a Sewaholic size 8 (FYI: Right now I'm a size 12 in their meassurements.)

As I'm a seamstress I still take meassurements via tape meassurement.

Current: (meassured on sunday, 27th)

Chest -     99   cm/ 39" (meassured with dressy bra... last challenge I meassured w/ sports bra)

Waist  -    81,3 cm/ 32"

Hips    - 109.8 cm/ 43"

Goal:

Chest – 88cm /34.5 inch

Waist – 72 cm / 28.5 inch

Hips - 103 cm / 40.5 inch

Weights will be posted weekly in the 20 Pounds PVP.

Although mini challenges are not good for me, I have good experiences w/PVP.

Generally I want to be fitter but that's too generic for a goal, so I stay with meassurements at the moment.

Quests are considered as passed with 60%.

Quest 1- Bear Form (Strength)

Some_drood_WIP_by_blooddarkened.jpg

Points Possible: 18

Do BBWW at least 3 times a week. See progress in completing a set, than do multiple sets in one workout

Quest 2 – Cat Form (Flexibility)

wow_the_night_elf_druid_by_kaithel-d35gk

Points Possible: 18

Do Yoga 3 times a week at least 15 min long. See progress in downward dog distance of feet to ground and being able to hold crow.

Quest 3 – Tree Form (Restauration)

1c2f8f782a770d180189d167728865f1.jpg

Points possible: 2x5x6= 60

At least 5 days a week:

-Track meals on PaleoTrack.com (eating Paleo is not my goal)

-Achieve 100% in Iron (I think eating low on iron is the reason for mid-afternoon tiredness) and

-at least 60 g of protein

Life Quest – Owl Form (Balance)

unBALANCE_DRUID_by_PrecosiousChild.jpg

Points Possible: 2x 3x 6=36

I need to balance fitness, studies, sewing, recreation ( like mangas/Animes/gaming) and quality time with friends and partner. Plus there are nessecarities like sleep, hygiene, food preparation, eating etc.

First try of setting this goal under the spoiler

I want to divide this into  groups:

Do at least 30 min of: (3 days a week)

-study

-sewing

-quality time

Do maximum 30 min of : (3 days a week)

-fitness

-tracking

Do a max of 2 h of:

- recreation

Yes, that sums up to 6.5 hours. ATM I don't have classes and spend most of my time idling around instead of studying. Plus... idling leads to boredome eating. BAAAAD!

I start low with 3 days a week. No progress but habit building.

This challenge I focus on studying and internet time.

-30 min of studying/ reading research paper/ writing essays 3 times a week

-less than 3 h of non-study- internet a day 3 times a week

Lookout:

In a challenge after this I want to replace 10 lbs of fat by 10 lbs of muscles. So minichallenge for the rest days.... research :D

I know my current goals aren't pretty druidy but I feel best being a druid and after weight loss there are sooo many mind things to tackle like gratitude, mindfullness, quick temper, life balance etc.

I like your quests :). They are clear, diverse and precise. Your life quest might be slightly too big, since there are so many things you should and should not do there. Can you maybe try to keep your time working on your goals below an hour a day on average? My experience is that if you have to spend more time on them, it really becomes difficult to find enough motivation to do it. I think that 60g of protein a day is sufficient for now, I don't often eat more protein than that and my muscles are definitely getting bigger.

I'm a bit worried about your goal though. Do you seriously want to lose 20lbs (9kg) in 6 weeks? That's is not healthy and you will probably feel miserable if you try. Normally people aim for 1 pound a week, maximum 2 pounds a week. To lose the amount you want to lose, you have to use about 1700 kcal more than you eat, every day. Normal women use about 2000kcal a day. Can you really feel happy with eating only 300 kcal a day?

I think similar about my life quest too. I'm still think about a better way to balance my life. Maybe just 2 aspects... like not more than 3 h of not study relevant internet a day and min 30 min of study a day or something like that.

This goal is hence the 20 pounds challenge and I want it to kick my butt. 2 pounds a week is doable in summer for me, IF I could manage 20 pounds in 6-7 weeks I would have to loose 3 pounds a week, so it looked like some butt kicking but the goal is still not too far away to demotivate me.

I have really good experiences with the No-Soda-PVP... whenever I had cravings for soda I always thought about the PVP and didn't drink it.

I need something similar for Ben&Jerrys and cookies and sweets.

I'm well aware that I might not reach the goal ( in the pvp only one person did it and one other was close to it).

Plus I think your calcurations are a bit... overexagerating. Could you please explain the math for me? I don't really get it. How did you come to 1700kcal?

Edit: I changed the savety net date to the end of the challenge after this. I hope it is more clear now?

Calculations: To lose one pound of body fat, you need to eat 3500kcal less than you use. So for 20 pounds, this is 20*3500 = 70,000. There are 42 days in the challenge, so you need to eat 70000/42 = 1667 kcal a day less than you use. 1700 was my estimation without computing it exactly, which seems not too far off ;).

Of course, this is body fat, not body weight. Depending on your current and future diet, you migth lose some water weight, up to a few kg, as well. Depending on your period, you might also hold a few kg more water now than you will in 6 weeks. All in all you might get to the 9kg of weight loss in 6 weeks, but losing 9kg of fat in 6 weeks is probably a bit too optimistic. I think that October 26th is a very reasonable goal date for your weight loss :).

Ahhh thanks for enlighten me!

Isn't it a 1700 kcal deficit? So I need to eat less and burn cals with training and both has to add up to 1700?

Anyways, I plan to need longer.

And it's really just weight, not fat loss. I won't stress it too much, but I need to trick my mind.

And buy bananas.... I don't have frozen bananas anymore... no selfmade icecream.... *buuuhuu*

PS: You're a running calculator! *jealous*

Correct :). But having a busy life and injuries often prevent us from having more than a few hundred exercise-calories a day ;). It is a good idea to incorporate more low-impactstuff like walking and biking into your life though. And to do those things you've heard about a hundred times, like taking the stairs instead of the lift, taking your bike or walking for short distances, etc. It is disheartening how much energy this consumes though, it's more like a bonus when working on your diet than the other way around.

About the walking calculator: Google is your friend ;).

Hello there, and congratulations on an interesting challenge!

You have already received sensible feedback above. Let me add: I do not use the scale at all. I use pictures. This is because I seem to get obsessed with the scale and it can also "lie". Just an idea.

Remember to get some rest. If you have workout times three and yoga times three that leaves one day for rest unless you do both on one day. Rest days help when it comes to endurance.

Let's have fun!

I have chosen to believe in myself.

Thank you Eve!

I did a similar sheme with running instead of bodyweight workout and it worked good.

Honestly it still is a lot less yoga than I want to do but I'm taking the rest days.

Totally agree with getting obsessed with the scale but for this challenge I'll still do weekly weight-ins. I want to go back to a certain time where I was feeling great in my body and this is about 30 pounds less than now.

Once this challenge is over I'll think about no scale.

At the end what I really need to know are the numbers for sewing, not the numbers on the scale :)

Yes, let's have fun!

Hooray, I found you! ^_^ You have a great story going and some admirable quests. Measuring your progress with your measurements (that's a lot of measuring in one sentence) is still a great idea, because as we all know both the scale and your eyes can decieve you. Great discussion with Waanie already, I think I'll be able to profit from it as well. ;)

Welcome to the druids!

And don't worry: Your goals are achievable and that weight loss can be healthy and consistent.

But it will be a lot of work to do it right.(And especially to find out what that means to you =) )

You are gonna rock it, right?

My best advice for you is to not get too overwhelmed with so many quests and goals.  If you can juggle it - GREAT!  I personally have a hard time trying to disperse my focus on more than a few things per challenge.

Good luck!!

Yeah it will be a lot of work, but definitly doable and absolutly worth it.

I'll do some kind of "collage" for you with two of my motivation clothes.

A fish-taily skirt and a kind of military like dress I fit in 3 years ago.

They were tight but good.

I pulled them out today and was trying the dress on. Chest is buttonable but hips are about 10 cm open lol.

I guess the skirt is the same but will do pictures for the giggles and the motivation.

Oh well one can read it this way too you're right.

It's a joke related to my story telling. I like to play World of warcraft and there is the class druid. Oftentimes one just says "I play cat" or "I play bear" because it refers to certain specs of the druid class.

I made it cuter cause I'm a beginner :)

At the moment my abo is on hiatus for getting things done ( lol) but with the next XP/next challenge I'll do a goal to include a healthy amount of WoW back in my life. Like no WoW before 6 pm and a go to bed goal.

I'm doing daily yoga to help manage back pain, and improve my core strength, so I'm loving your yoga goal! Also like that you're working on balancing everything... I'm terrible at it! Especially when I have a sewing project on the go :P I get so caught up in what I'm doing that I forget that I'm suppose to be exercising! (or cooking, cleaning, talking to people :P)

So, after seeing what I learned, I will take out the running and fill in some strength training for my workouts.

I need to watch some nutrients and come up with a new lan of action till the new challenge so I think I'll do some serious thinking and will do the 7-day beginner trainer and look through some workouts at nerd fitness to find the funniest ones.

I always need some variety or else I get bored.

So, this break week will be about education.

Did the day 1 workout and the day 2 logging of food today.

Not sure if I could logg all my food all days a week but boy.... I have legs. They huuuurt!

And I just managed 2 sets of 8 reps. Hard to do the chin ups without bar or fitting desk so I used the eating table.... I might have looked like a sloth and done it wrong. Push-ups are haaard again.

But.... my leeeegs....

bodyweight sqats and weighted lunges.... I'm sure I did the lunges wrong, because I wasn't even near the ground... and just 2 sets of 8 of each exercise made taking steps so hard! I was totally wobbly the rest of the day.

Need to modify.

Hence I STILL have sore muscles I tried to do some light yoga. It was raining really hard just moments ago so I decided to do some sun salutations.

I still have problems with the transition from plank to cobra and from cobra to downward dog, but after 10 min sun salutation the rain stopped.

Coincidence? I think not ;)

Did some nice leg extensions for my poor legs and called it a day.

Definitly will do some lighter exercise in the future!

I'm doing daily yoga to help manage back pain, and improve my core strength, so I'm loving your yoga goal! Also like that you're working on balancing everything... I'm terrible at it! Especially when I have a sewing project on the go  I get so caught up in what I'm doing that I forget that I'm suppose to be exercising! (or cooking, cleaning, talking to people )

Uhh talk.... yeah.... I'm in the lucky position to have a sewing room (it's the guests room, but honestly, who would have over night guests on workdays = sewing room with bed :D )and when I work on a project my boyfriend comes to check for me every few hours and asks if I'm okay.

Kinda sweet but in these moments I just think "What do you want I want to continue sewing!" :D

I got rid of the bed in our spare room to make more room for sewing! Guests now have to sleep on an air bed :D

I'm secretly planning that too. Try to make small steps so that dear boyfriend thinks it was his idea ( it's his couch, he brought it with him when we moved together a year ago, so I have to be careful and pick my fights wisely :D)

It always helps me to lie flat on the ground after a low plank, place my the palm of my hands under my shoulders and go to cobra from there. I do have to step back my feet a little to go into a proper down dog after that though.

Since when are sun salutations light yoga by the way? I scale them as at least "moderate", and if I do 5-10 of them with warrior poses (variant B) they definitely count as a full workout to me ;).

Light yoga because I did them in my own pace and didn't watch a video and tried to follow it.

I was really slow and focussed on breathing and transitions. And the streches were really the ones I liked most... like pigeon etc.

It seems to me, the transition from plank to cobra shall be that you lower your chest first and move it forward, but I always crash down trying this.

I usually lower my whole body and lay down the knees first, then bend the back to come into cobra-like position.

Transition to downward dog is similar, have to use knee support too.

Will work on that this challenge.

Distance of heels to ground looks like 5 cm. If I move the feet more forward I can place them on the ground so I have to be carefull not to cheat myself!
