LadyWitch
I'm aiming to run a Tough Mudder in July 2015. So that means training, training, training! But at the same time, I have to take it slowly enough that I build my back muscles up, without pushing them so far that I end up flat on my back and unable to move... Finding that balance between 'enough' and 'too much' has never been easy for me, but I'm getting better at it all the time! Goals: 1/ Fuel the burn - I was planning on doing a Whole30, but I've decided to be a little easier on myself. Instead, I'm going to set my own rules that I have to stick to, if I want to pass this challenge.a ) No more than one type of Cow Dairy in a 24 hour periodb ) No grains, other than porridge oats allowed... at all.c ) No cakes, biscuits, sweets etc unless they have been made by me (or the husband) and must be paleod ) No fizzy drinks - I quit the coke in the last challenge, but I've still been having the odd can of fanta, lilt or ginger beer, so this stops now! 2/ Feel the burn - Time to get started on the TM Mudderling training. 3 x a week, every week. I'm aiming to do this on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. 3/ Run! - I started the Zombies! Run C25K program in the last challenge and I'm currently on week 3. Aim is to run a full 5k by the end of this challenge! Aiming for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. 4/ Yoga - I've been doing daily yoga, to help strengthen my back, and know that if I don't set this as a goal, it'll fall by the wayside and I'll end up regretting it... so although I don't normally set 4 goals, this time I am! Grading: Each day will be a pass/fail situation for each goal. At the end, I'll turn my pass rate into a percentage. 0-50% is a fail, 50-75% is a pass, 75-95% is a good, and 95%+ is excellent. Points will not be awarded for a failing grade.1/ 42 days to eat right - pass is +1 CON, good is +2 CON, excellent is +3 CON2/ 18 workouts - pass is +1 STR, good is +2 STR, excellent is +3 STR3/ 18 runs - pass is +1 STA, good is +2 STA, excellent is +3 STA4/ 42 yoga sessions - pass is +1 DEX, good is +2 DEX, excellent is +3 DEX(That leaves 3 points left to award for any 100% achievements) I've been staying at my parents house for the last 4 1/2 weeks, to help out while my dad recovers from a double bypass, but hopefully I'll be able to go home this weekend (fingers crossed!). If I can, I'll do my progress photo on Monday morning, when I weigh in and do my measurements, otherwise the photo will have to wait, as there's no full length mirror here... Measurements: Weight: 169lb (76.8kg)Bust: 37(94cm) Chest: 31 (79cm) Waist: 31.5 (80cm) Hips: 42 (113cm) Thigh: 25.5 (66.5cm) Side quest:Do something CRAFTY!!! Doesn't matter if it's painting, drawing or sewing, but being at my parents and not being able to do anything has really had an impact... So, time to get those creative juices flowing again! (Thanks to KL and Tateman for the inspiration to add this as a goal!) 2 Check out my character here! Stonie
So how 'bout those zombies?I like your challenge. We've got a lot of similar things going and I think you've just described the diet I'm trying to achieve as well (I just didn't know it yet.) And I'm curious to know what it takes to prepare for a Tough Mudder. And I'm curious to know what it takes to prepare for a Tough Mudder. The thought of those scares me a little. I've been trying to get my 'diet' under control since I joined NF a year ago, but I keep slipping back into old habits... I maintained paleo for the first 4 months easily, but then I did a Whole30, which derailed me completely! So I figure I'll try something a little more sustainable this time round! This is the beginners lever training for the TM... Haven't had chance to try it yet, but I'm sure it'll kill me when I do! I looks deceptively easy Subbed, i'm considering a tough mudder about that time too, depending on if i can improve my running stamina .i like the grading system, its a cool setup.Atm, I can run for about 10 mintues hence the C25K program! So improving my running is a top priority, but so is making sure I stick to it this is the 3rd time I've started a C25K, and I've never made it to the end... Fingers crossed I do better this time! It is one I have wanted to do for awhile now. Hopefully you can get back home this weekend!I've been toying with the idea of doing one since last year sometime... But it was always 'one day'. I posted a link on FB a few weeks ago, asking if any of my friends were crazy enough to do it with me, and one said yes! So, since then my husband has agreed too, and I think one of her friends has said yes too... Which means I can't back out now! Just waiting for them to list the date for the next East Midlands one, and I'll be signing up! Check out my character here! LadyWitch
I'm HOME!!!! After 5 weeks at my parents house, it feels really strange to be home... So, Friday evening Kris came to join me for the last weekend at my folks house and we had takeaway for dinner (which seems to be a Friday night thing at theres). Saturday, my dad had to go for a check up at the hospital and ended up having a minor op to lance a infection from his chest wound, but he's was home by 2pm so alls well. We then popped into the local town for a couple of hours as a break. Sunday I started the day with 3 hours of work (9am-12pm), during which Kris took the dogs for their walk. I then asked him if he could mow my dad's lawn, to save my dad trying to do it... By the time he started it, it was 11.30, and he was still going when I finished work. Now, I'd hoped to be able to finish work and head straight off (a friend came with his car to give us a lift home, and arrived at 11.55), but ended up having to wait till he'd finished the lawn, at which point he told me I could do the front one... I was not best pleased It was about 13.20 by the time I was finally done, and we could leave. Needless to say I wasn't in a very good mood by this point. Anyway, we get home, unload my stuff from the car, and I walk in the door. To be hit by the smell of ammonia from the cats litter trays. I'd hoped my friend had been cleaning them when he popped in to feed them, while Kris was at my folks, but apparently not. And it got worse. Seems my darling husband has done barely any housework in the 5 weeks I was away (other than laundry and washing up). No hoovering. No dusting. No mopping. No tidying. The kitchen sink smelt, the toilet seat was covered in mucky paw prints, and the bedding was covered in cat hair. Now, I've always known I did the lions share of the housework, as I work from home, its easy to just do jobs when my shifts are quiet, but I was not impressed. AT. ALL. (I will just say, Kris is not a slob. He works at a rendering factory, so his sense of smell has been worn away to virtually nothing. So, he honestly couldn't smell anything wrong. And he's while he's not normally very tidy, he does keep the kitchen clean. I was just very annoyed.) So, anyway... Today... I started the day by cleaning both litter trays to within an inch of their lives. I then did my yoga and went for a run. Now, I don't know if it was the heat, lack of breakfast (I ran fasted) or simply not having my head in the game (through annoyance) but my run suffered for it. I really struggled to run for more than 2 minutes at a time, and my ankle started playing up as well. So, I think I'll be re-doing that instalment on Wednesday. I've updated my starting post with my measurements and weight... Which is another annoyance... I've lost 1/2lb since the start of the last challenge. I have to admit to being really disappointed by that. I know my diet at my parents wasn't brilliant, but I was expecting more than 1/2lb loss I guess this is why I should avoid the scales... So, I'm back to the 'no weighing in until the end of the challenge' thing... Will focus on performance instead (although after my dismal run, that's not really helping!) One good thing about today though, is that I get to go to my burlesque class tonight! I've not been in 5 weeks, so I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone! Especially as there has been several birthdays and an engagement in the group since I was last there... 5 Check out my character here!
