Sounds like you're kicking butt.

I'll admit boredom with working out is a problem I have often. Good to hear you're not bored atm.

It can be a real struggle to keep going I know

Warmup:

100 Jumping jacks

30 burpees

Striking: 5 sets

25ea punches

25ea front snap kick

Judo:

50 ea basic turn ins - focus on firmly planting the supporting foot for the following throw

25ea Hane Goshi turn ins - less telegraphing today

25 ea Uchi Mata turn ins

25ea O Uchi Gari turn ins

Mini Challenge stuff:

3x1 min upward plank

3x50 Mountain Climbers

3x30 Lunges

3x12 Dips

3x10 Rolling Pistol Squats

3x10 Burpees

Forest x2 - still rather wobbly but improving

Regular stretching routine

Foam Rolling

Meditation: 10 min with a timer only

I've noticed that meditating on my bed does not work as well as sitting on my workout mats.  I sink into the mattress enough that it's harder to maintain good posture on it and my back starts twinging.  Weird but noted.

I spent the late morning and early afternoon cleaning and then worked out.  This is my normal Saturday morning routine so I don't bother showering first.  There's no point as I'm just going to get gross again fast.  Right as I was starting stretching, potential new neighbours knocked on my door by mistake.  One of the other apartments is apparently being shown today.  There is no other point in the week when I am that physically disgusting so of course they knocked then.  Ah well.

Thanks, this challenge does seem to be going really well so far.  I hope your new program is still keeping you excited!

I can't do a full pistol squat either.  These build up to them.

Cool!  I've actually never eaten pesto but it looks really good.  Any recommendations on a kind of pesto?

60 buuuurpees! Nice! :)

Hahaha. I hear you on the shower logic. Same here. I know I'm just going to go sweat so I roll out of bed and get to it. Leaves me feeling a bit rancid by the end of the day, (I sweat A LOT). But man, when I'm out of the shower after all that I feel like I've been to the spa! :)

I like plain basil pesto...I'll spread it on a mezza pizza instead of sauce, then some olives, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts...yummy

Pesto!  It's the most amazing food.  I have two jars of it, and since I don't eat pasta, I'm a little short of things to spread it on.

Burpees are the engine room.  Gotta help out there!

Oh yes, the post-workout shower is glorious.  I was so gross.

ooooohhh, I have to try that.  Recipe is now bookmarked.  Thank you!  I'm going to try this pesto recipe.  My basil plant should be able to handle a half-recipe without completely stripping it.

Zucchini noodles?  You can put almost anything on them that you'd do with regular pasta.

Another thing to try, someone on r/Fitmeals posted Sweet Potato Waffles!  Sweet potato, egg whites, protein powder, cinnamon, and baking powder.  Awesome, hope it'll work as pancakes because I do not have a waffle maker.

Zucchini noodles might work well.  I'm also thinking that some roasted eggplant and mozzarella could be very good with a layer of pesto.

Mechanics - 3/3 sessions

Stories - there was a lot of relaxing and watching stuff this week, mostly with friends which is fine.

It was a good week generally free of stress.  Just laundry and some groceries left to do, and then slacking off and playing video games for the rest of today :-)

I completely agree with you and Cheechoe on not showering before working out. What would be the point of that? I worked out and cleaned yesterday morning. I got in the shower a little after noon.

Cool!  I've actually never eaten pesto but it looks really good.  Any recommendations on a kind of pesto?

Fresh pesto is wonderful. It only keeps a few days in the fridge, but it freezes well. I freeze it in small containers or in an ice cube tray.

The recipe you linked is pretty close to what I used. It is an adjust-to-taste kind of thing. A food processor is essential. I found it worked best if I ran the cheese through the grater attachment first and set it aside.  Do the same with the pine nuts. Then process the basil and garlic while drizzling in olive oil. When the basil is mostly chopped you can add the cheese and nuts.

Any waffle recipe can be used to make pancakes. The only difference between pancake batter and waffle batter is that waffle batter usually has more fat to keep them from sticking.

Depends on what you're in.  For striking martial arts, being tall would be an advantage I think.  Lots of reach!  That's the impression I've gotten anyway.  I may well be wrong.

7FG's reach is obscene, it is a huge advantage for striking unless the opponent knows how to cut distance safely, even still then it just changes from fists and feet to knees and elbows.

Noted on freezing pesto.  Thanks for the pointers.

I thought so.  Will be trying them soon.

Heh, I was thinking of 7FG!

Had to be in to work early this morning and slept very lightly as a consequence.  Sleepy and a bit out of it today.  Also, hungry.  May be destroying caloric limits.

Love the look of your forest work out - and the food porn!

Plus, oh yes re no point in showering pre-workout or pre-cleaning, and yep, odds are the neighbours will catch you......

Awesome challenge!

It's a really neat short flow!  Though I'm working on the one from the originating book and it turned out that the video guy changed it more than I thought.

I need more room. I want to try those rolling pistols. Mmm sweet potato pancakes.

The rolling pistol squats are great.  The feel so much more effective that the previous intermediary step I'd been trying (uneven squats).  Hope they work for you!

Oh mah gaw. So trying that Sweet potato pancakes recipe. Thanks for sharing! :)

:-)  Love to share recipes.

Monday:  complete rest day except for an hour of getting places walking.  Game night was good and I just crashed afterwards due to a rather light night of sleep Sunday night.

Yesterday:  Shark week started and I was unsettled with very tight shoulders.  My good shoulder was bugging me in addition to my left shoulder.  Judo was cancelled (I would have gone if it was on) so I decided to try some restorative yoga instead.  Meditation, a shower, and bed followed.  Wow, did I sleep.  Will be keeping that in mind.  Loosened the shoulders up too.  So, not a great day workout-wise but it still felt like a good day anyway.

Gryffudd is running a world that a friend of ours came up with with a system of his own.  It's not available anywhere for me to link  to, sorry.  We've also played Marvel and a bunch of others.  I'm working on some short games in AlternityStarDrive and maybe Cortex Plus.  Possibly D&D 5th ed.

I don't know how I feel about 5e yet... I really loved 4e and the basic edition of 5e reads a heck of a lot like 3.5... hope that there are more elements of 4th in the full edition.

I am so far behind in your thread, and almost missed a bunch of food porn!  What?!  I'm a horrible person.

I'm going to try making Pesto this weekend, I think.  I have a huge basil plant that I'm doing nothing with, so at least this way I can make use of it.  And then slather it on fish that another person I know recommended me to do.

Yes, though a world and system that they put years of work into.

Haven't tried 4th ed as we drifted away from D&D when 3.5 was current.  Admittedly heard mostly negative about it.  What aspects did you like?
