Lullaby88's Time to get Unstuck

So thanks to a kind few, I decided to do a challenge this round. I failed the last 3 weeks of the previous and did not award myself points. I didn't feel as though I worked enough on the challenge in order to consider it successful. I got stuck in a funk and I still am in this funk. But after being a part of NF for a year now, I can't just walk away. I'm not going to give up.

So this will be an interesting one. I, like many others, falter around week 3 time and time again. This time, I want to figure out why and prevent it from happening. So using Batwoman's suggestion, this challenge is going to be like a journal of sorts.

Main Quest
To live in the here and now. To love myself for who I am and gain my confidence back. Getting healthy will be a bonus to being myself.

Goal 1: Daily Update (+2 CHA & +2 WIS)
This is pretty self explanatory. I will update my thread daily. This will be a bit of a challenge but I believe I need it. This update will be a brief update on my day. Has to be done before I go to bed each night. I also have my self-love/gratitude journal that I will continue to update daily.

Goal 2: Hooping practice (+2 STA & +2 DEX)
This goal is a carry over from my last challenge. I started off great but when the hoop I was using went missing, I stopped hooping. I have since made a hoop and can get a few turns while waist hooping. I also have twins. So this is for at least 5 minutes of hooping, 5 days a week. Giving myself a 2-day "rest"/can't hoop due to weather or bug problems. Though I can still hoop every day, if I choose.

Goal 3: Non-Zero Days (+2 WIS & +1 CON)
Every day, I will do something that makes me happy or makes me feel better about myself or my situation. It can be small. It can be big. It can be anything as long as it's something for me. I tend to focus on others about myself. I also don't give myself enough credit. And I will include what I did in my daily update.

Diet Quest: Food Porn (+2 CON)
I love to cook. And I tend to make pretty healthy and tasty meals. However, I always criticize what I made. Taste-wise, look-wise. I make myself question the awesome meal I just made and I forget the fact that I just made a nutrient-filled meal. So! I want to practice to plate and show off my creations. This should help me realize that I am awesome. :D Yes, pictures will be taken and shared.

Life Quest: No Snooze Button (Late addition. Will figure out points soon)
I hit the snooze button too often. Especially on Saturday mornings. I get up at 5:30, make coffee, wake the husband up and then go back to sleep until 9:30 am to 11 am. There's so many things I could get done if I just stayed awake or wake up around 8 am. This will also include weekdays. No snooze. Get up with my alarm at 5:15 each weekday morning and don't sleep in too late on weekends. Make coffee and maybe some squats or lunges to wake my body up.

So...yeah...I think this will work out. No life quest this time since my own challenge is basically a life quest. B) Let's do this!!

Back tracking a little.

Day 1 update (aka Monday): Wrote in my gratitude journal. Got in 5 minutes of hula hooping (thanks to Lilith). My husband went out for a guy's night and only 1 of my roommates was home so it felt like I was home alone. It was really nice and relaxing. I read a chapter or two in "A Clash of Kings" (book 2 of A Story of Ice and Fire aka Game of Thrones). I also made myself a few friendship bracelets. ^_^ Mainly because they're something to do with my hands and they're pretty. I could make scarfs but you don't need one in Florida sooo...there's not much of a point. Monday was a good day.

Goal 1: a bit late so not counting

Goal 2: done!

Goal 3: done! I got pretty bracelets now. :D

Day 2 Update: I got in my five minutes of waist hooping at 9pm last night. (Damn you rain and lightning!!) And if I turn in a small circle, I can keep the hoop at my waist for a whole circle or two. Which is more turns than I've ever gotten! *does a happy dance* Though, there is a slight problem with that. I get dizzy. So I stopped after a few minutes. I also look down while I make the circle so that could play a role in my dizzy problem. Yesterday, my non-zero day was me relaxing for a few minutes and making roasted tomato basil soup. Yes, cooking tomato soup makes me happy. It's sooo good. And I have my husband to thank for getting me to try it in the first place. Work was also pretty busy yesterday. Had 3 hour long meetings. Which means, I only had 5 hours to work on what I'm supposed to do. Normally, I'll be okay with the meetings but I've been swamped this month. Still am, but I know I need to update and help welcome all the Level 1's. (There's over 200 posts!?!?! It's only the third day of the challenge!?!?) Need to get my work done and then step it up as the welcome party!

Goal 1: done!

Goal 2: done!

Goal 3: done!

And since I think my tomato soup rocks, I took a photo of it. :)

I lurve tomato soup, but to me it has to come with a grilled cheese and grilled cheeses are not a part of my diet usually so it will have to be a special occasion for that. That will probably be in winter time. nomf nomf nomf

Great start :)

I'm a time traveler, but I can only go one way and only a second at a time.

Day 3 Update: Almost a little late for yesterday's update. (I'm gonna try and do today's tonight. ^_^ We'll see how that goes.) I took a break from hooping last night. It was too hot and I got caught up reading. :) I'm alright with that because I was doing something I enjoy. And I made another bracelet. It's a fishtail design and it's really bright. I should post a photo of it. (If I remember later.) ^_^ I'm feeling better now. It's only been a few days since I've decided to do a challenge and I'm glad I am. :)

Happy Thursday!!

I'm so glad you feel happier already! :D You should post a picture of that bracelet!

And don't worry too much if you post a bit late, I think that you know whether you don't post in order to avoid confrontation or whether you are just simply just running late. :) You're doing fantastic.

Thanks Hatter. :)

Swaffe, I just found out about the no zero-days on Tuesday but I'm emjoying it so far. Just the mentality of it is helpful. I'm not into the past and future self aspect but I enjoy the concept. And if you click on the link from my OP, you'll see where it all started. :)

Bracelet!

Day 4 update: Just did my little bit of hooping for the day. And while I was outside, my friend who hoops told me about a hooping event that happens on Wednesdays. It is at a bar and starts at 9pm but I think it will be neat to check out one of these nights. I would be out past my bedtime but I think I'll attend one day.

I spent most of my day at work going through all the Level 1 threads and got a few PM's from some of them. That, in itself, made me feel good.

It's been a good week 1 so far. :) Let's keep it up!

Day 5 update: I'm still holding onto the week 1 excitement. Didn't hoop so that means I have no more days to slack off. ^_^ I wrote in my little journal and I'm updating here. I got a bit of food porn too. ;) Even starting my period hasn't affected my mood. Still have a smile on my face. Work is busy, for the first time in months. So that helps the days fly by. Still have to deal with stupid people but that's expected in any job. Waiting to see how my weekend goes. :)

Here's dinner from last night. Chicken fajitas.

And I got this last night.

A whole case of half-off tomatoes. For free. :D I love having a husband that works at a produce stand. Currently cooking tomato sauce in my slow cooker.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Happy to hear that you're doing well! :cheerful:

And the chicken fajitas look YUMMY! Is there a drooling smiley? There should be...

We're still debating whether to buy a slow cooker or not. It sounds very practical, but on the other hand it would be one more "thing" taking up space, while we're trying to unclutter (at least a bit)... Hm. I'd be okay with it if we used it regularly. :indecisiveness:

How often do you guys use yours?

My shiny new "battle" log - probably more of a plodding-along log, but hey, it's mine!

We use the slower cooker for at least one meal a week.  It is a total boon, especially with two working parents and two kids.  We just can come home and eat right away.  Lots of red beans and rice, chicken tortilla-less soup, barbacoa, beef stew, yummy stuff.

Box of tomatoes, wow, super delicious tomato sauce, yay!

I don't use it that often for the sheer fact that most slow cooked recipes are for more than 2 people. But I am glad I own one. I can do sauce and chili and ropa vieja and stews. It is handy and I've somehow found room for it in my cuttered kitchen. When not in use, it sits on top of my microwave. ^_^ I should use it more often.
