RockinRobin
All right, another challenge. Sorry I was late with my summary of the last one, but, the time away was amazing! We will keep this one simple! Starting Stats 154 lbs at 5'7" but stupid scale (checked on 4 different ones) says 36% body fat due to 31" rib cage supporting a large chest.New goal is to go from 35" waist down to 30" by my birthday in October. Balanced Mind - I am stressed about being self employed as it makes it harder to get a new mortgage in a new province. I also am hating my FitBit as it shows me how little sleep I am getting in the 8-9 hours I am trying to sleep. I resolve to rent for up to 6 months and to accept a paid position by December 1 to qualify for the second mortgage. And I resolve to solve my sleep issues and get at least 6 hours of sleep per night (I'm showing a low of 3 hours 19 minutes and max of 6 hours 1 minute over the past month and I sure feel those days when I have had less than 5 hours!) Balanced Meals - I am slowly learning what combination of foods make my body happy and which ones make it angry. I have cut out all pop and alcohol and am taking food grade herbs to end my sugar cravings. Works like a charm when I take them!! Tastes a bit like alfalfa, but, your taste buds can't taste sugar for up to four hours! No more cheating!!! Doesn't affect the taste of fruit sugars - yay! and I will choose to eat five veggie servings per day even though they may only be in two meals to start. Balanced Body - Sunfit program - three days of workouts, one day of rest for the first 30 days, then four and one for the next 30 days and five and one for the last 30 days. Started July 22 and have adjusted rest day by one day due to soccer game. Also want to get 10,000 steps per day as per the FitBit (approx 5km) for five of seven days and finally, determine the cause of pain in my big toe joint - it is not red, not swollen, a little stiff and hurts to walk some days. Makes it hard to do pushups and burpees and mountain climbers Oh My! Cheers to all the challengers! 1 Wizard of Balance - Assassin Level 1 STR(3), DEX(2), STA(3), CON(2), WIS(3), CHA(2) "If it is important to you, you will find a way ... if not, you will find an excuse" - (I don't recall whose quote this is, but I love it!) elsfaire
A very druid-like challenge! (Don't get me wrong, I think that your focus on balance is fantastic! It shows a lot of wisdom. ) Not sleeping makes everything harder. Do you have a plan for helping improve your sleep, or do you have any idea what is causing the problem? RockinRobin
Well I am not the nerd I would like to be when it comes to posting - sorry for the gaps and I must have my notifications set wrong as I didn't see this reply from you @elsfaire. For trying to get more sleep I have been reading that a few more carbs before bed might do the trick. It hasn't made much difference yet. I'm a light sleeper and every time my husband starts breathing heavy or snoring I find I am waking up to roll him over. But the best thing that makes me get more sleep is to get ticked off with him for some "male" thing he did. I don't recommend it, but, I know if I'm really tired it wont take much to get me grumpy ... haha could be I get grumpy because I am so tired and that makes me get a better sleep that night I also find if I have a workout I am in a better mood all day and my brain forgets to shut down when I go to bed, but, I'm not willing to give up workouts at any time of the day - body weight workouts are before noon, but, soccer can be hot afternoons on the weekend or finishing as late as 11:30pm on a Monday night!! Soccer is getting hard on this old body and I wake up with a few aches and pains in the middle of the night, but, again, I'm not quite ready to give it up yet ... I've only been playing for 40 years ... I just need to be sure to change sports before I break anything that wont heal. 1 Wizard of Balance - Assassin Level 1 STR(3), DEX(2), STA(3), CON(2), WIS(3), CHA(2) "If it is important to you, you will find a way ... if not, you will find an excuse" - (I don't recall whose quote this is, but I love it!) RockinRobin
Latest stats - down to 152lb and 35% and down half an inch on my waist ... had the mother in law here this week showing us how to make perogie (ugh, I never want to see another perogie - white flour, lots of butter in the onions and potatoes, mounds of cheddar and more white flour and more white flour and more .... you get the picture. Balanced mind - needs workMy husband gave me the option of buying a condo in BC instead of renting ... then we can rent it out later ... too many options!!! I can't decide if I want to take a job offer (53-75% of what I was making before) so we can get a larger 2nd mortgage or wait to find contract work and sell the first house. Balanced meals - needs more workNow that I am home alone again I should be able to get back on track with meal planning. Balanced body - doing OKI managed to get in two morning workouts while MIL was sleeping and then she made plans to go visit other people so I was able to get in a 5k walk. She is off to my sister in law's now so it is back to routine. I've had a few extra soccer games this month due to rain reschedules from June and July. I think once I get the nutrition back on track the workouts will feel better. Soooooo many pushups for the first 30 days UGH, I may need to throw in a few bent over rows or some band work in order to balance things out.
It does sound like those are difficult decisions to make. Sometimes, when faced with a hard decision, I have to actually write out the pros and cons of each, or a comparison chart, lol. I am glad to see you sticking with your challenge even though it is not going as well as you would like it to. We all need to make adjustments from time to time. what is important is sticking with SOMETHING, and evaluating what you need to be able to reach your goals. RockinRobin
Whew, my stamina needs some work in warm weather!Last Wednesday 8:00 pm game on turf under the lights with a wonderful breeze - no problem playing the whole game (90 min) with one sub; we didn't have our regular keeper so we lost - ah well.Last Friday night 8:30 pm game on turf under the lights with a wonderful breeze - no problem playing the whole game (60 min) with one sub and we won! Sunday in the heat of the day, no subs for our 3:30 pm soccer game (60 min), I played striker and mid - too hot for me. Luckily we were winning and I was able to slack off in the second half. I'm good for a lot of sprints, but, covering for defense and then having to run to the other end of the field for a shot on net ... can you hear me sucking wind???Monday at 6:00pm (90 min) expected temp was to be 26C or 75-80F but it felt like over 100F out there - the good, the bad and the ugly. I got a goal, I have a black, blue and green thumb and wow heat exhaustion drains the life out of you especially when you are short players for the whole game! ... but it doesn't keep me down! I went on a five mile walk yesterday morning to hear my fitbit buzz at my 10,000 steps along the way! Yay! Then my hubby thought it would be a good idea to go for our first bike ride ... in several years!!! We went out for 30 minutes last night and came back home ... not because we were tired, butt (haha) And my thumb was aching a little and because anyone who goes out on a bike the first time knows how sore the sit bones get from just a few bumps along the road ... unless you have a cruising seat. My hubby made the sad joke that it was my fault for losing weight and his butt wouldn't hurt as much ... we will see about that tonight when we go out again!I'm heading on a bus trip tomorrow to the "Bad Lands" so it will be hot and dry and amazing! I'll see if I can figure out how to post a picture or two!Friday I have a 7am fitness walk planned with some friends in their 60's and 70's and will finish off the night with another game of soccer in the ugly 6pm heat.Only another 7 games in 14 days ... I will stay hydrated and take my electrolytes and be in great shape for playoffs!! I need to get back in the right mind set though ... soccer is not a complete work out ... I could be doing my arm/body weight workouts which would improve my throw ins! I may not be quite as dedicated as @Kaxxy at drills but I'm also not as young (haha). Once the thumb has mobility I will go back to the pushups and burpees and mountain climbers ... Cheers!
That is a lot of great exercise! I think anyone would be tired after playing a whole soccer game with no subs, let alone in that kind of weather. You have quite a lot of endurance! RockinRobin
OK still falling behind on this progress posting - either you guys get me addicted to all the awesomeness you are describing or I'm forgetting to log in - I need a happy medium of 30 minutes at a time instead of oops 3 hours! @myrlien I haven't been using my fitbit lately decided I wasn't comfortable with something electronic that close to those certain parts when I was playing and I know I easily get 10,000 steps on game days and when I walk certain routes like going around the lake. I'm not sleeping any better @cheerful dame so I decided not to track how bad it is and pretend I'm getting 6 hours on those days I wake still tired. I'm still weighing pros and cons over taking a J.o.b. versus contract work and renting versus buying and living with the sister in law versus my parents and for how long ...But I bought lots of veggies today!!!! Asparagus, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, cherry tomatoes and also a few more strawberries for smoothies mmmmm. Today's game was rained out but this weekend will be busy with co-ed and ladies. I've started back with my pushups and rows, had a nasty knot while on a bus trip last week, time to get the pull up to par with the push ability. Have a great week!
It is hard to keep a balance on the forums. I go back and forth on too little and too much time, too. Hooray for lots of freggies, and for getting back to your pushups and rows.
