I'm Going Home

Hey guys! So last challenge I did pretty good, but went to extreme as far as working out and eating. It wasn't healthy at all.

I am moving back in with my parents. This trip to Oklahoma shed some light as to what she really thought of me. And I can't take it anymore. My parents are happy I'll be moving back, as far as a room of my own....I don't know how that will work. The baby has the only room right now. Mom is talking about getting me signed up for CrossFit which I was excited about. Then my twin let me in on the secret, mom delayed on the bills to send my sis $500. So money is even tighter with my mom's spend happy ways. So no Crossfit for me.

Brother in law is helping me find a job at the place he works at. I was excited about that to, but I still don't have a license I don't want my mom to drive me everywhere again. So gotta work even more to get everything set up and done. No excuses of I can't or anything. I get a wall in front of me I either tear it down, find a way over, or go under.

Goal 1: Flexibility: Morning Yoga and extensive stretching everyday. Something I've been dragging my feet on for some time. But it will good for me!

A: 7/7

B: 6/7

C: 5/7

D: 4/7

F: 5/7 or lower

Goal 2: Spiritual: In order to survive the Marines I'll need all the help I can get, especially help from the Man. So I plan on doing a Bible study when I get home, but for now I'll read the bible on my phone.

A: 7/7

B: 6/7

C: 5/7

D: 4/7

F: 3/7 or lower

Goal 3: Diet and Exercise: Eat very clean as always, but this time make it a habit to eat 6x a day. Meals must be small and well portioned. Veggies, meat,  and fruit only. And one "free" meal. Workout 6x a week to.

A: Commit to 100%,

B: Eat two free meals, miss one workout.

C: Three free meals, miss two workouts.

D: Four free meals, miss three workouts.

F: Five free meals, miss four workouts.

Life Goal: To Do List: I need to keep moving at my parent's house. I cannot give into old habits of lounging around on the computer all day. So I will make a to do list and finish it everyday. Just 5 things, easy to do throughout the day. And when it's done I can relax.

Please feel free to critique!

It's simple, list your other ideas, just type them down in list format, no elaboration, then look at it written down and see what you think, let us weigh in...

As for flexibility, perhaps a bit wider stance would be helpful in your squats?  You won't be doing sumo squats till you're REALLY far apart, so it can't hurt to give it a shot.

Btw, in the meantime, why don't you look for a body weight routine that you can do?

Maybe one of your goals could be to experiment to find alternate ways to work out since you don't have access to the Cross fit gym.  Biking?  hiking some local trails?  You could do something different each week.

And don't let your family hold your back.  Your success depends on you and you alone, not them.  You got this.

Hey LostOne,

I'm happy that you are at a loss for goals. Really. The last few challenges, it seemed like you were pounding out the goals without a lot of intimate time with them.

So, now you can find the goals you have been desiring without having to 'cancel another one out' that might seem better or tougher, etc..

I like what BlamedCat is getting at. Do a freewrite about this challenge/time in your life and see what pops up for you. I know you can write well so perhaps your writing strength can help your fitness strength?

We are here for you. Cheering for you, supporting you. There are so many folks on your threads, it's like a smorgasbord of love and great ideas.

Now get cracking on what moves you. What makes your heart sing when you think of healthy and happy?

Go to it, Girl!!!

Good job on updating!

Goal 2 and 4 are my concerns right now.

First, Goal 2 seems odd... what do you  mean by percents for the pull ups thing.  A little more description there I think would make it make more sense, cause right now I'm envisioning you trying to figure out just what percentage of a pull up or what have you you're doing.

As for Goal 4... you realize life gets in the way right?  Jumping from an A being 100% and a C being 98% and an F is 90% is too HARSH.  Life IS going to get in the way, you ARE going to miss SOMETHING because you aren't perfect, nor should you be.  This is putting undo stress on you while you are adapting to your new/old environment.  I really think this needs to be more forgiving, but in a measured way.  Rework that scale because even the greatest Marine wouldn't do that to themselves, they'd think practical, challenging but practical. Also, give yourself cheat/miss reserves, say 3, that's only one every other week.  This will help you stay sane and keep you from being mentally self-destructive when life gets in the way.  This needs to be a SMART goal.

Awesome Challenge; well thought out and accounts for the serious change in situation.  I'm a big fan of Maj. Armstrong's pullup regimen, but it's really conceived for people that can already do a handful of reps in a max set.  Take a look at the program at twentypullups.com; I think it is a MUCH better fit for your current skill level.  Do that once (8 weeks, maybe even add in the morning pushups), then move on to the Armstrong program.  When you get to Boot Camp you'll be doing more pull ups than your Drill Instructors, guaranteed.

Keep up the good work!

Ok updated my challenge and I am all set to getting on here everyday and talking it out!!

Sorry for the delay guys. I am now staying in Oklahoma for a month. They need more help and my great grandmother started crying when I told her I am staying. My mom made a good point, I am at a point in my life where I don't have a job to go to, kids to worry about etc. So I might as well enjoy my time with them.

Ok down to business!

Goal 1: B: Missed one morning. And I am just using a simple morning routine that takes me 15 min. But I want to make it longer now. It's really helping me out in my runs.

Goal 2: F: I was hoping to stall until I went home with the bar I have set up there. But now that I'm staying here I have to find something to practice on. There is a tree in the backyard that should have a branch I can swing on.

Goal 3: C: Sucked at this. I want to read more into the Bible but more study than just read it. Going to see what I can do, I hate the Bible on my phone. Something about turning the pages in a real Bible is motivation for me.

Goal 4: F: Really hard here, I have done the workouts. I run, and do bodyweight exercises but just the basics like pushups and squats. But diet is suffering, my aunt and uncle eat a lot of crap. Even Gigi (great grandmother) said she doesn't get why my aunt complains about losing weight, when she eats the way she does. They have a Ninja blender so I'll make shakes only.

Life Goal still applies. I am staying here to help now. Gotta keep moving :)

Today I got sick so I wasn't able to run. I'll be fine with sleep, I haven't been sleeping good at all but that'll change.

Already setting up my workout for tomorrow, and my breakfast. We have to leave at 11 am, so I'm gonne wake up early and run, then workout hard. My aunt wants to take me shopping and I need workout bras. And my uncle wants me to shred 60lb of paper so I'll be busy haha.

Woooo Grats on your last challenge! Also, I was talking to a friend of mine who was able to join the Marines despite not being within the body regulations, he said he was in the body composition program or something like that- I guess it helps those that want to join get fit and up to standard. I don't really understand how joining it would work but it made me think of you and I thought I'd pass it along to see if could help you reach one of your major life goals :)

Good luck on your current challenge!

Yeah I wish the female recruiter had done that before, but she didn't. So I'm hoping a different one will do it, when I show them how hard I've been working towards this. Still have to lose some fat in order to do a pullup :D

Thank you!!

Did a 7 min. 1 mile sprint because we had to leave today. But I didn't get anything else done :(

Ate like crap to. Drank a lot of water thankfully, needed something to wash down two sausage biscuits (I didn't have breakfast and ran and my aunt ordered without asking, I was in survival mode!), and a Cheeseburger. All I had.

Did a quick Yoga routine before my run, and listened to a sermon that was on my Bible app on the way to the doctor's. List didn't get done. Will do it tomorrow.

Have you considered getting daily devotionals sent to you?  I'm sure you could google it and get a bunch of free ones and pick one that you like.  It would help with the Bible Study aspect instead of just reading.  Or you could mix the 2 and get one that allows you to read through the Bible in a set amount of time with the devotional attached.

That's a good idea and I agree. It'll help with topics and such and if she is into doing deeper study at least there is a starting point from the devo that can be expanded upon.

First, I hope all is going well.  If you didn't check your email a second time, you have more information.

I want to encourage you to find a way to watch the movie "Fat Head".  I think you would benefit from it.  I know it is on Amazon Prime and I think it is on Netflix.  Rent it, something.

Yeah I did and thank you!!

I'm downloading it :3

For me it's, "Just keep running just keep running OOO! A hot guy, chest out, suck it in, and run...he's looking!!"

Sorry guys I haven't updated or commented :( Busy helping with the move. So far there has been little progress, but what can I do? My aunt is sick and my great grandmother can only do so much and my uncle works.

Devotions are going good and so is everything including list. Diet is the only thing that might suffer. My aunt doesn't have much in her fridge that is healthy but she has a lot of frozen fruit and veggies. And a ninja blender, let her rip!!

Will be visiting everyone's thread and seeing you all are doing!! I miss you guys!!

Welcome Teri!! *Bear hug*

So my challenge has been going good but, as you can see I had to take off the pullup challenge. My uncle said nay nay about me swinging on his tree. And anything else *pout*. Will do it when I get home.

BruteSquad I watched Fat Head! And I love it!! Thanks man, and thank you for the Bible you da best man.

Been walking 3 miles everyday. Been getting up to late to run and it gets really hot here. And bodyweight workouts have been minimum :( Plus I know I'm gaining some weight BOOOO! Gotta push it now I have 3 more weeks here! Kind of wish I had a Nerd on my ass right now.

Bible study has been good, and the stretching isn't as extensive as I'd want it but it's getting done. And my list is getting finished. But now I'm going to add workouts and Bible study on there so I HAVE to do it. And drawing, because I have been asked to draw some things and will be paid :D .

Will take advice, my plan is this:

Wake up (early!)

stretch, morning workout, run 3 miles

smoothie and 2 eggs with glass of raw milk (LOVE OKLAHOMA!!)

Bible study

Draw

Afternoon Training (my aunt and uncle have 3 acres for a backyard, sprinting, walking pushups, etc. will happen!)

Smoothie, salad with boiled eggs

Check on my peeps on NF, I love you all <3

Evening Yoga

Dinner

Talk to the BF (Yep. You read right)

So far the biggest issue is me getting up, and getting right out of bed. Not happy with myself right now.

BF? Have we met this young man yet?

No and no longer BF lol was short lived. But I came to the conclusion he wasn't good for me spiritually.

Rock ON!

I loved all the info! Thanks for the suggestion man.

He's a Christian, but was a little to in touch with his libido to be chaste around :-/. That was one of the issues I had, and he just didn't get me. To be honest no one does, only one friend gets my crazy mind and that's cause he's crazy to haha. And besides I'm not ready to settle down right now, to me dating is for the intention of marriage which I'm not ready for at all.

You ROCK MAN!!

Thank you Teri and BlamedCat for getting on me to remember what I'm working for. I really need my friends right now because you're my support group. So I'll be updating on a daily basis.

Goal 1: D: The getting up and doing it is the issue. I've been waking up close to the afternoon which is really weird for me! I need to get back to 6am at the least.

Goal 2: B: So far so good, I am just reading it right now but I found John Courson's sermons online so I'll be listening to those. And also studying the material.

Goal 3: F: Yeah, I am sucking royally at this right now. Gotta get up and push.

Today I ran 3 miles, but the gps got lost in redneck land and I lost my time. My Zombies, Run app seems to have a better signal though so I'll try that, along with my Gymboss.

50 Pushups, 50 Leg Raises, 10 Burpees, and 45 sec Plank x3

I am not going to comment on what I ate. Wasn't good. That's my biggest issue right now.

Perhaps you will get more out of posting your food. Is accountability in this area usually a motivator? No judgements! Good luck!
