Chris56Ryan
Right so I don’t know where I’m going to be or what I’ll really be able to do for this challenge, I just don’t know yet what’s going on in work. I’m hoping I’ll be staying put a bit so that’s how I’m going to structure my challenge. This is my second go in the rangers so I’m going to have to really work on gaining all the skills and willpower mainly needed for this greatest of professions. I’m going to start being a bit more specific with parts of my goals for this challenge and see what I can manage.Life goal:I have two things I’m trying to do here and I’ll be happy to get one done this challenge and if the other takes a bit longer then so be it. I’m looking at moving to a nicer place and to myself. I’m done with the whole renting a room in a house with a few other lads and not having much space to myself. The other thing is a new car which will really depend on the right one coming along at the right price so I can just stay looking till I find one. I’m going to focus a bit more on the moving for now though I think. Goal 1:Healthy eating reset: I’m going to focus more on cutting out the bad this month more than anything the general goal is to eat as healthy as possible but with some real clear goals as well.• Remove the Junk: No fast foods of any kind even bought in stores, so no pizza, chips, burgers etc. I really feel these just need to be completely wiped out so that’s the goal.• Max 1 a week: Treats here so once a week I can have a treat/dessert or the like tops. Going to a cinema or eating out will be big here it means no popcorn/chocolate/desserts unless they are my 1 for that week.Goal 2:The Work: This is the goal for all my exercising. I’m not increasing this at all and will keep my previous 5 days a week which will hopefully be 3 crossfit classes and 2 ‘other’ I am going to be a bit more flexible if I don’t get things my way and 5 days exercise no matter what it is will do. The focus here will be perfecting specific movements.• Getting the moves: The main skill I want to practice for this challenge is double-unders so that’s what I’ll do. I have a speed rope so can do these in my own time too.• Making improvements: Here I have some things I can already do but need improving and I’m going to focus on my clean here, mainly getting that hip pop right. I’ll use any combination of clean doing this and will be happy when I can do it with good form consistently.Goal 3:Limber up: A ranger needs to be able to move in any environment and that’s something I’m not very good at just now. My hip flexors have been dubbed anti-flexors because they’ve become so tight I noticeably struggle and get regular soreness in them.• Stretch it out: I want to get into a good habit of stretching which is much neglected and will focus on my hips. I MUST stretch 5 times a week minimum to pass this goal.• Roll em up: Another thing to help mobility I want to start consistently using my foam roller 3 times a week for this. So let’s see how it goes. Hopefully I’ll be settled for the time being but if not I’ll just have to make some more changes on the fly. I’ll be doing my best to keep up with some of the rest of ye too. I’m off for now so see ya’ll later. 1 Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. Chris56Ryan
So I'm posting a week late but it's not all bad, I have been doing my workouts and trying to sort myself out life wise. Things are very hectic at the moment but I wont let it get in the way of my health. I can see this challenge being a real struggle but hopefully I can get my shit together and slog on through it. AverageJoe
Better late than never! Good goals. I especially like the stretching one, as I too have hip mobility issues and really should stretch more. I may also have to look into this foam rolling I hear so many rebels discussing. I could use some good pointers I find having healthy "replacements" to tackle cravings help. example, I have a wicked sweet tooth! So my go to treat is sliced banana, nuts, dried fruit, tossed with cinnamon and either honey or agava nectar. 2 Half/Ogre, Ranger Level 0STR: 0, Dex: 0, STA: 0, Con: 0, WIS: 0, CHA: 0 Link to comment
RoxyFreefall
I have a hard time stopping with nuts I so love them, maybe too much. Peanut butter is a good go to for me, but again I can over do it. I will have to try fruit and honey, that sounds good. 1 MFP: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/profile/rkonie Name: RKonie Link to comment

Chris56Ryan
Hey guys thanks for stopping in. My big problem with food is complete laziness. More craving something easy than good I'm getting back to my batch cooking now so will hopefully always have something on hand that only needs a spin in the microwave. My double-unders are going a bit slowly right now I just have really sore calves from a half hour of bouncing up and down on them focusing on a high slow jump. As soon as I try speed up my hands all my coordination goes out the window though For the rest of the challenge I went to crossfit yesterday and got in early to do some foam rolling and we spent a lot of time stretching hips since we were doing squats. I got up to 75kg and for food a sweet potato and beef stew for lunch with a chicken madras and rice for dinner. Nothing else even though I went to see guardians of the galaxy, which is awesome. 1 Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. smurray
I agree Guardians of the Galaxy was awesome. I new space drama is really needed and I hope they can continue with this story. My kids had a blast watching it this weekend. I have got to find time to get my kitchen in order. The family has gone back to school this past week and now it is time to adjust back to the school schedule. I have a crazy class I am so looking forward to getting out of in a about 4 weeks. With all that said, the kitchen is not a welcoming site and it makes you really want to close the door and grab a bite somewhere else. I guess it is time for me to roll up the sleeves and clean house. Let me know what "quick fix" recipes you come up with. 1 Smurray -- Ranger (Level 4)STR 8 | DEX 5 | STA 8 | CON 8 | WIS 14 | CHA 9Challenges:Current,, First, Second, Third, FourthIt never hurts to add a little more color to life... a lot more color could be a bit painful. Chris56Ryan
Well tried some more skipping practice yesterday for around 15 minutes. I was wrecked but didn't manage any double unders. Then crossfit this morning again power cleans for strength, I maxed out at 60kg for 3 decent reps but mostly worked at 50kg. the wod was 6 rounds for reps, 2 minutes a round of 6 cleans, 10 pushups, as many skips as possible. I did the cleans at 35kg (the girls Rx ) and the score was the total number of skips you finish so I had 140. Food wise yesterday I had my beef and sweet potato stew for lunch and 2 chicken wraps with hummus, mixed greens and tomatoes for dinner. no breakfast yesterday trying a bit of a fast but a banana before crossfit and protein shake after today so far. All interspersed with many cups of coffee and loads of water . 1 Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. AverageJoe
Sounds like you're doing well. For food, do you have a Crock-Pot? They are great for easy batch cooking. You can just toss in a bunch of meat and veggies, maybe a can of crushed tomatoes and BOOM delicious meal ready to go! Let it do it's cooking thing while you're at work or sleeping, very convenient! Just a thought. 1 Half/Ogre, Ranger Level 0STR: 0, Dex: 0, STA: 0, Con: 0, WIS: 0, CHA: 0 Link to comment

Just a thought.I don't have one at the moment. I'm living in a house with some other guys and dont have much space or inclination to be buying things like that but if I manage to get a new place all to myself I probably will. So today is a bit all over the place. I did a factory reset on my phone yesterday and it turns out that wipes all your alarms, who knew right? So I slept in meaning I missed crossfit and was late to work (it's ok I have flexi-time). Then I had my annual review and bagged myself a 10% pay rise on a day I was late I won't be getting to another crossfit class to replace this morning so I'm just going to go for a run instead and hit the gym for weights tomorrow morning. So far so good with food just had a brown bread sandwich with chicken, bacon, coleslaw, lettuce and tomatto for lunch and a regular coffee, I've been avoiding the very milky/sugary one to lower the amount of calories I'm drinking. Planning some purchases fitness related that should help, mainly lifting shoues and a pull up rig for the home even though I've nowhere to put it really yet 2 Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. AverageJoe
Oversleep and get a raise! You lucky son of a @$%^. Seriously congrats on the raise! I recommend one of the pull up rigs that go on the door frame without added hardware. I picked up one earlier this year and it's been great. Look for one that allows varying grips for pullups. Most of them advertise that you can also use them for pushup, sit ups and dips. Personally I'd rather do pushups with hands on the floor, they don't anchor your feet really well for sit ups and dips? who wants to do a dip with only 1-2 inches of travel before your @$$ is on the ground! No thanks. Pull-ups though they're great for those. OK product rant done! 1 Half/Ogre, Ranger Level 0STR: 0, Dex: 0, STA: 0, Con: 0, WIS: 0, CHA: 0 Link to comment

Chris56Ryan
So a good weekend ending a pretty good week. I signed up for a toughathlon (5k obstacle course) on the 30th of August and a tough mudder in Dublin on the 4th of October. I'm looking at two others in September too for practice in the run up. I did it because I want something proper to aim for with my training and such. I got a couple of runs in over the weekend at 6k each and the odd 10 minutes of skipping but no double unders yet. I'm going looking up some good progressions to help this week too. Made crossfit this morning. Strength was deadlifts 5 sets of 5 at 90kg for me which I was pretty happy with and I was wrecked tired after the WOD so job done. 1 Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. Lincarte
A great challenge! And as always you are nailing it! Have you looked at a door bar as an alternative? Now screws, no making any holes in the wall and easy to move around, might be good if you are short on good spaces to put it. As for lifting shoes I just got pair and all I can say is GO FOR IT! =) Stay awesome! So I have one of the door racks but I gotta say I haven't come across a door frame yet that I didn't fear for my life was going to collapse under my weight . I find them a bit too narrow and low too but the lack of confidence in the door frame is number 1. I found a place I can get a full stand alone rig with a pull up bar and dip bars for 160 euro with free delivery so I'm going to get that I think. As for today, another crossfit session down and a bit of skipping done last night too. I hope this is something that will eventually just click for me because it's not going well yet but I'll just keep at it . I hadn't mentioned my stretching/rolling really yet but I am doing it. about 15 minutes combined before every crossfit class and around 10 minutes before and after running. I did a full hour of combined rolling and stretching though Sunday before I went out for my run . As for food I have a nice healthy chilli made for the next few days and a tuna pasta to mix and match between. Keep up the good work!Next time So going pretty well at the moment. I went for a 5k run yesterday and got it done in 28 minutes. I was pretty happy with that especially because I felt slow and heavy during it. I'm hoping to eventually get this under 25 minutes but at the moment I'm upping my distance for the tough mudder . 3rd crossfit class of the week done this morning. We were doing front squats for strength and I got up to 70kg for my last set of 3 (5,5,4,4,3,3) pretty happy with that. the WOD was a 5 min AMRAP of 7 pushups/7 pullups (I used the purple band for assistance) followed by 28-21-14 of 7kg wall balls and 16kg KB swings. had me pretty tired I've been eating well and getting my stretching and rolling in too. Tomorrow is technically a rest day so I might do a big stretching/rolling session and then a big run Saturday morning to finish out the week. I have to go watch the hurling semi-final in Dublin then for my rest Sunday 1 Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath..
