Waldgeist
Fifth-and-a half Challenge [August 4th - September 14th]Return of the Jedi from the Crystal Caves Very fittingly, in the last challenge my literary alter ego descended into the dark caves of Ilum, to find a crystal for his lightsaber. In the last months I've been kinda sucked into darkness. I've slowly worked on getting out of it again, but didn't succeed. By now I know the way and started walking into the light, but I'm not there yet.It would've been nice, to start this challenge from the start, but I'm not gonna loose momentum by waiting for the next. Anyway, this is "just" a getting back-to-business-challenge with low-level goals. I'll elaborate a little more later. For now, just the general scheme of this challenge: Fitness Quest: Body Recomp Goal 1 - Follow my workout plan every weekI'm in week 8 of a 15 week bodyweight programme. I didn't follow it a 100% in the last few weeks, but finishing 100% of the goals for one week is the essence of goal 1. Goal 2 - The next meal is always the most important oneGetting your meals at work makes some things easier and some harder. I try to keep my vegetable and protein intake high, but dessert etc. gets too often on my plate. 0% of that is the essence of goal 2. Goal 3 - Trying new and old stuff outI did a lot of fitness related things - not only in past challenges. Most of them didn't make it through the darkness of the caves though. In this goal I want to do something again or try something completely new, at least once per week. Life Quest: Oral ExamsPart of the darkness of the past months was that I was almost kicked out of university without a degree. But I asked and prayed for a second chance, and I got it. To use it and to rock those last exams is my life quest for now. 1 the artist usually known as WALDGEIST Epic Quests Challenges by theme Star Wars: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #5B, #6, #6B, #10, #11, #16, #17, (Current Callenge) TeenWolf: #7 SHIELD: #8, #12, #13, #14, #15 Magicians: #9 "It's never too late, to become what you could've been!" Waldgeist
Hey Waldgeist! Welcome back! Thanks, good to be back. Quick overview over the last week and a half challengewise: G1-Working out: Worked out a total of 338 minutes on 5 different days. Today was a rest day, though. G2-Eating consciously: Resisted several temptations, but since I spent two nights at my parents, 100% was not possible. Had a piece of cake today, which my co-worker offered to me, but other than that, I was good. LQ-Exams: Set the dates for the exams. No backing out now. Made a list of books for the first exam topic today, which I need to study.
Quick addendum to friday: G3-Try stuff out: Did my first LAN party (pretty late for a nerd, I guess) with the other volunteers from my organization. It was fun, but since I'm not the biggest fan of ego shooters, it could've been better, I guess.
Weekend report: G1-Working out: Did a pull-up max test in 100 seconds and I did 14. When I tried that two months ago, I could do only 10. Yeah! G2-Eating consciously: Kaiserschmarn (cut-up pancakes) for dinner wasn't the wisest choice, especially since salad and hardboiled eggs were also available. 2 the artist usually known as WALDGEIST Epic Quests Challenges by theme Star Wars: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #5B, #6, #6B, #10, #11, #16, #17, (Current Callenge) TeenWolf: #7 SHIELD: #8, #12, #13, #14, #15 Magicians: #9 "It's never too late, to become what you could've been!" Waldgeist
How is your studying going? Thanks for asking, here you go: LQ-Exams: Did a long overdue review of a kanji lesson. Since part of the one exam will be to read and be asked about a 60 page original Japanese text, I sorely need the review. G1-Workout: Another max test, this time: # of push-ups in 100 seconds = 30. That's 3 seconds for a push-up and considerabls 8 more than last time I tried. G2-Eating consciously: Pretty paleo today, the only not-so-wise decision was a danish for breakfast. 1 the artist usually known as WALDGEIST Epic Quests Challenges by theme Star Wars: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #5B, #6, #6B, #10, #11, #16, #17, (Current Callenge) TeenWolf: #7 SHIELD: #8, #12, #13, #14, #15 Magicians: #9 "It's never too late, to become what you could've been!" Waldgeist
l remember a time when weekends were easy-going and full of calm and peace.... Anyway, here's a rather late update on the second half of last week: G1-Working out: If volleyball would count, it would've been a good couple of day... Or if adult horizontal activity did.... Well, at least I moved! G2-Eating consciously: Okayish, when I'm at work, but when I went to visit my parents, the fridge was not safe from me, so to speak. G3-Try stuff out: Hm, didn't really try something out of the ordinary last week.... LQ-Exams: Almost finished with my list of books and article I've got to read. Wanted to do that over the weekend, but life (aka work and social life) got in the way. Now I will finish those tomorrow! the artist usually known as WALDGEIST Epic Quests Challenges by theme Star Wars: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #5B, #6, #6B, #10, #11, #16, #17, (Current Callenge) TeenWolf: #7 SHIELD: #8, #12, #13, #14, #15 Magicians: #9 "It's never too late, to become what you could've been!" Waldgeist
Your the best, Harika! G1-Working out: Did 20 push-ups before showering, since you can always do 5, and if you can do 5 you can do 10, and if you can do 10 you can do 20.... G2-Eating consciously: Good day, minus two muffins. Harika
Facebook? Don't do it! I hate it, the experiments, the forced sorting of Top, filtering stuff out without being able to completely stop it . . . I have never used it for posting more than rarely, but unfortunately it is the only way to see what some people are up to, and for events. Events are important. Events like camping, rock climbing, and just hanging out with Disney or Pixar movies. Species: Elven Vampire Class: Assassin Magic Numbers pvp Heroes vs Villains Link to comment
Waldgeist
Facebook? Don't do it! Turns out, I didn't miss anything important, besides that some of my far away friends were wondering if I was still alive. And I am very much: G1-Working out: Did 20 pull-ups (the first seven of them consecutive! I aimed for ten but I usually can only do a maximum of five consecutive ones, therefore WIN), those are a little harder to do just on the spur of the moment, because I have to walk 15 minutes to the playground first.PLUS: (Which I almost forgot) I did 3 * 30 seconds planks while watching youtube. Take that evening lazyness! And since I haven't done them in months (and no other midsection targeting exercise in weeks, too) I was really pushing to the (current) limit (also I was kinda surprised I still could do them that long). G2-Eating consciously: Good day, despite dinner being a sweet dish. I loaded up on salad and a couple of sausages first and turned the main dish into a little dessert.
G1-Working out: I just wanted to swim a couple of laps.... It took over two hours until enough people left the pool. Ah, well I filled the time with some I-wish-I-could-do-this-without-the-water-calisthenic-feats and massaging (mostly) my back with water jets. G2-Eating consciously & G3-Try stuff out: Yes, double strike! Experimented with chickpea flour and made delicious (not sweet) pancake-like thingies.
Sunday/Weekend Update: G1-Working out: 25 Pull-Ups (of which I did the first 8 consecutively) and an afternoon of volleyball before that. G3-Try stuff out: Played Werewolves of Miller's Hollow (Werwölfe von Düsterwald) for the first time in ages friday night with my (old and new) coworkers till one in the morning (we live all more or less in the same place). And then saturday and sunday night again. Win, win, win! We threw in a round of 20 questions/who am I? to mix it up a bit the second night. Didn't really get much sleep though....
G1-Working out: 25 Push-Ups with feet overhead. Moving through the push-up progressions again, maybe I'll do diamond ones tomorrow. Not much to say about anything else. I got a roomie again for two weeks, one of my co-volunteers had to make room for the new volunteers. First thing he did was clean my room, so I didn't have to do it, therefore win! the artist usually known as WALDGEIST Epic Quests Challenges by theme Star Wars: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #5B, #6, #6B, #10, #11, #16, #17, (Current Callenge) TeenWolf: #7 SHIELD: #8, #12, #13, #14, #15 Magicians: #9 "It's never too late, to become what you could've been!" Waldgeist
G1-Working out: Alternating push-ups (feet off the ground) and pull-ups on different days. Plus did about 45 minutes of running yesterday with my roomie. I wouldn't have thought, I'd that still in me, but I did! My running buddy might have wanted to go a little faster, but we weren't slow. Maybe the two or so mornings a week I've got to run 5-10 minutes in order to not be late for work were actually kind of training..... Oh, and I did two 1 minute planks while watching youtube.
The rest of the week was pretty much as it started (minus the running, didn't do that again). Did a somersault on a trampolin for the first time though (well, I kinda did it, minus landing on the feet)! Will do a challenge evaluation later today, but since this one was more about starting with challenges again then it was about the actual goals, it probably won't be that long.
End-of-Challenge-Evaluation: Since I started late and this is a re-entry challenge, I'll give myself no points this time (also I never specified what points I'd get for waht....), just some verbal comments. Goal 1-Working out: Did surprisingly good on this one, although I switched workout plans mid-challenge. Somewhere between A- and B+, I guess. Goal 2-Eat good stuff: Daily danish and (bi)weekly food orgies at my parents did kind of balance out the good meals I usually had. But it was still a pass, let's say a D. Goal 3-Try new stuff: Did a couple of things, but not as many as hoped. Still, a solid C. Overall a good challenge, considering I'd been fallen off the wagon for over half a year. And that's all I really wanted: to successfully end a challenge without too much pressure on specific goals. Of course that will change in a bit. The next one is already in planning, it'll be more like my old ones. More specific and measurable goals, a nerdy backstory (think wonderland meets vanilly sky meets witchcraft as a hint) and motivational cues. 1 the artist usually known as WALDGEIST Epic Quests Challenges by theme Star Wars: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #5B, #6, #6B, #10, #11, #16, #17, (Current Callenge) TeenWolf: #7 SHIELD: #8, #12, #13, #14, #15 Magicians: #9 "It's never too late, to become what you could've been!"
