Day 1: Could there ever be a better day to start this than while battling a cold?

 

For the past couple of days I've had a cold and I felt gross, down and unmotivated in general, so in fact this is exactly the point where I need a healthy lifestyle and a daily battle log the most. Luckily my cold is almost over, so it's about time I get some exercise and snap out of the self-pity.

 

Food

Breakfast: Pancakes

Mid-morning snack: Grapefruit

Lunch: 2 fried eggs 

Afternoon snack: Apple

Dinner: Quiche

 

Exercise

- 3 x 1 minute of jump roping

- 30 minutes of hula-hooping and trying to learn new tricks 

 

Challenge for tomorrow

In addition to exercising and eating healthy: Go to university before 09:00 AM and study a full day without browsing the internet.

Height: 164 cm

Starting weight: 78 kg (February 2014)

Current weight: 73 kg

Goal weight: 60-65 kg

Current bf: 25-30% (visual estimation)

Goal bf: 20%

BMI: 27

Chest: 96 cm

Waist: 72 cm

Hips: 103 cm

Thighs: 67 cm on the right, 63 cm on the left (ah, that explains the difficulty I have buying pants)

Calves: 40 cm on the right, 39 cm on the left

 

Is it just me or is my waist-to-thigh-ratio absolutely ridiculous?

The good news is, if you can do it while sick, you can do it anytime!!!

 

And sadly, my waist-to-thigh ratio is pretty comparable so.... yeah, don't despair!

My legs measure like that too!  I have an especially hard time finding tall boots that fit properly because my right calf is an inch bigger than my left... UGH.

 

Good luck on your internet challenge, that's always a tough one for me... *is most certainly NOT at work on the internet right now, nope....*

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with giant thighs :D

 

Day 2: Just a pretty good day!

 

To start with yesterday's challenge for today: I made it to university before 9 AM (that doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment, but I haven't been there before 10:30 in ages!). Did get distracted by the internet a bit, but not as much as usual. Thought I finally had a breakthrough, but it turned out not to be entirely correct a few hours later. Oh well, there's research for ya... Anyway, it's still progress. :)

 

Food

Breakfast: oatmeal with raisins

Morning snack: a tomato
Lunch: a piece of yesterdays quiche and an apple
Afternoon snack: another apple
Dinner: fridge leftovers: spinach, leek, cottage cheese, canned tuna and a boiled egg, all mixed together
Evening snack: a grapefruit

 

Exercise
- 20 minutes of punching a boxing bag

This leaves me 10 minutes short of my daily goal, but I still have some errands to do tonight, which will amount to a 40 minute walk.

Same as today's challenge: Go to university before 9 AM and study for a whole day without browsing the internet

Day 3: HUNGRY!

 

I was soooo hungry today, I snacked on fruit practically non-stop. The first changes are already noticeable though: I feel less bloated / lighter and I don't crave sweets (other than fruit) that much anymore. 

 

Food

Breakfast: Oatmeal with raisins

Lunch: Yesterdays dinner leftovers

Dinner: Green beans with ground beef and sajoer spice paste

Snacks (all day): 1 avocado, 5 mandarins, 1 apple

 

Exercise

Lanithroe's mini fitness challenge: 38 squats in 1 minute

About an hour of (indoor) bouldering. I threw in some random body-weight exercises as well. Did my first ever burpee, just to try it. Will definitely add them in somewhere in a workout program when I actually make a program.

Don't worry, it gets better with time. 

 

I used to die from exhaustion in about 10 minutes of biking. Now I'm doing 30 and it's bearable, but you'll just get better if you start practicing.  :redface:

Heya - I have those 'hungry' days too, don't forget to snack on some nuts as well - I find the healthy fat tends to keep me satiated for longer than sugary fruit.

 

Good luck on your run - I'm going to try starting the C25K program on Tuesday, but I will see how my ankles hold up - last time I tried I had a limp for 2 months  :nightmare:

I'm allergic to nuts :(

What is C25K exactly? I am going to use either the zombies, run! app or zombies 5K. They've been on my phone unused now for months.

THE ZOMBIES, RUN APP!!! I have been trying to get this app but, psssshhh, it costs me money (in dollars too! We don't even earn in dollahs yo!) ;_;

As it is weekend so there is extra time: Go for a run, next to some other kind of at-least-30-minute exercise. I really really really hate running, but I'm also always jealous of those very fit girls who make it seem so effortless. It would be great to be able to go for a 10K run on saturday morning just to clear my head and don't even think about it. Plus, it would be good for my asthma as well. It's just the process of getting to that state that's so terrible...

You'll probably want to use your emergency inhaler before going depending on how what your asthma is and what types of triggers you have. I'm a well controlled severe asthmatic but I can trigger an attack if my exertion level gets to high particuarlly outside. Just had to do a stress test because of this.

Day 4: Running, cooking and shopping.

 

So I went for a run today. It was not nearly as horrible as I remembered it. I need to find a nice route in my neighbourhood with less stoplights though. The first zombies, 5k mission let's you decide when to run and when to walk, but it encourages you to keep moving at all times. Looking forward to try the rest of this app! Unfortunately I stumbled - right in the only part of the run where there were a lot of people around, awkward :) - and now my ankle hurts a bit.

 

 

After that I baked a bananabread (not exactly low-carb, I know), and went shopping for emergency birthday presents for a birthday party tomorrow (totally forgot) and some new clothes. 

 

 

Food

Breakfast: Oatmeal with raisins, my go-to breakfast nowadays

Lunch: Salad with feta cheese and bacon

Dinner: Faux rice (cauliflower) with green beens, apple, ground beef and creme faiche 

Snacks: Two slices of bananabread

 

Exercise

- Running / walking from zombies for 40 minutes

- 3 sets of 10 push ups

- 90 minutes of walking during shopping totally counts as exercise...

 

Challenge for tomorrow

As I'm in the train to my boyfriend's parents for a party there tomorrow, I'll have no control over tomorrows meals. And there probably will be cake to. I'm not sure if I can find time for a workout. So the challenge is: keep the damage to a minimum.

You're making great progress!

 

I did use my inhaler before my run, because I didn't want to take it with me. To my surprise my asthma didn't bother me at all. As a child my asthma was severe, but now it comes and goes in periods. Not really sure wat triggers it (apart from allergies to most animals)
