Week 6 Day 2 (10/14/14)

Back Lunges w/ 4 sec hold - 5/5

Toyotas - 12/12

Military Press Lunges w/ 4 sec hold - 5/5
Side Lunges - 12/12

OLRDL - 5/5
Squats w/ 2 sec hold- 12/12

 

Ohhhh the burn, that sucked so much more than last week with remembering all the holds. I had a few times where I wanted to slack off but I pushed through and got all my reps.

Week 6 Day 1

 

Push Day. 

My wrist was hurting still.  I put on a wrist brace and decided to push through..  It didn't really work out that well. 

 

Push up (incline on 1st step) 5/5

Shove offs 12/12 but I definitely favored the good wrist

 

Military Press 5/5  I love these

Thumbs Up 12/12

 

Close grip push ups (incline) 5/5

Seated Dips 2/0 - my arms were tired by this point and my wrist was aggravated.  These just hurt my wrist too much.   :grumpy:

 

 

Today is leg day.  My ankle hasn't been hurting as much as my wrist and the only troublesome movement is going to the the Toyotas.  I really like those so we'll see how it goes.

I finished week 5 tonight. This was not a good workout for me. I need to do more core work in between YAYOG core workouts.

Superset 1 x2 V-ups 5, Russian Twists 4. I was terrible at these and felt a popping sensation in my back, so I stopped them.

Superset 2 x2 Hyperextensions 5, Swimmers 12.

Superset 3 x2 Supermans 5, Leg lifts 12. I finished them, but not without some real lower back discomfort thanks to superset 1.

I did some other core work to make up for my weak sets:

2 sets of hip raises

4 30-second planks

2 sets of pointers

5 minutes of back stretches

I just completed day 14 (W4D2) of YAYOG Basic program... 30 more days to go!

Today's interval workouts:

- Bulgarian split squats, 12/12/12 (x2)

- Side lunges, 12/12/12 (x2)

- Squats (3s hold), 12/12/12

- One legged romanian deadlift, 12/12/12 (x2).

Legs day always feels short and hard bcoz I have to do all (but squats) in double reps for both legs, so they takes double time thus making the rest time shorter ~_~

Addition:

- 3 x 15s and 2 x 20s deadhang (easyyyy)

- 5x5 counter pushups.

Although deep down I felt like slapping myself for slacking off so much - but what matters is I'm still here and pushing forward, right? Right? I even post updates more often on this thread than on my own dusty personal challenge thread... hurnh, blame the OCDness!

I've been doing a terrible job posting on my own challenge. However, I'm keeping up with this challenge and staying accountable here. I definitely think it's great that you're doing that also. Way better than just disappearing altogether.

Assisted pull-ups: 3/4

LMIs: 12/12 (overhand)

 

LMIs: 5/5 (overhand)

Towel Curls: 12/12

 

LMUs: 5/5 (knees bent)

LMIs: 12/12 (underhand)

 

LMUs are getting better, but that 5th one is still pretty hard for me to do well, so I think I'm still at the right level.  Pull ups are always going to be a challenge methinks, but I will keep at them.  Whoo hoo!

Absolutely that's what matters! Never give up. :) And I'm totally the same, I'm way more interested in getting over here to post my progress than on my own challenge thread. ;)

 

So, time for a bunch of catch-up posting, and hopefully I'll also catch back up to the schedule I started on by the end of this week.

 

 

Week 5 - Day 3

Towel Curls: 12 (biceps, aww yeah ;D )

Let Me Ups: 5 (These were interesting, we had company so I was trying to stay out of the main rooms. Used the pull-up bar in the bathroom doorway with my heels on the countertop.)

Let Me Ins: 12 (Whyyyyy! Make it end!)

 

Seriously, I hate Let Me Ins. It barely feels like I'm working my arms/back at all, but it burns like crazy in my legs.

 

 

Week 5 - Day 4

Nothing much to mention for this day, the V-Ups + Russian Twists combo was definitely killer, the rest all felt really similar.

Thumbs Up: 12 (less popping this week, but still noticeable)

By the end of this I always love the squats, so nice to keep both feet planted firmly on the ground. :)

I can tell this workout is having an effect. Today's workout was challenging, but mostly because I slowed way down and really focused on form and on the 4 second holds.

My left shoulder has been fairly sore over the last few days but always felt better after I'd stretch and loosen up. Today I think I found the culprit: The overhand grip Let Me Ups. On the last two reps I could really feel it in that exact spot and it has been moderately sore ever since. It's not painful, but feels more like a deep joint soreness, like some kind of weird deep DOMS. I'm going to try to keep stretching and moving and hopefully it'll feel better in a couple days when we come back around to arms.

I just completed day 15 (W4D3) of YAYOG Basic program... 29 more days to go!

Today's interval workouts:

- LMI 12/12/12

- LMU 12/12/12 (not all good forms though.. really had no idea about this one orz)

- LMI underhand grips 12/12/12

-Towel curls 12/12/12

Addition:

15s deadhang

1x10 assisted pullup

...and my almost 2yo toddler attempted to do the workouts too, a cute distraction hahaha.. Part of the bad LMU forms near the end was bcoz I needed to fight to get a proper grip on the bar while she kept pulling off my right wrist so that she can also grip the bar to do a deadhang -- if you can imagine that situation! And of course I was also busy laughing at it so much that I barely able to lift myself up XD

So today was week 6 day 4

V-ups 5/5

Russian twists 12/12

Hyperextension 5/5 (3 sec hold)

Swimmers 12/12 (with 3 lb weight in each hand)

Supermans 5/5 (second set of five with 3lb weights in hand)

Leg lifts 12/12

Tried to step this one up a little today. Also did some punches and squats in between some of the rest periods (not all). Core definitely feels it today. Onto week 7 and a little nervous for 5 days a week!

They are assisted. :) don't get TOO excited. Unless you can do real pull ups. Then be excited. [emoji1]

I -can't- do a REAL pull ups yet :o

That's why I'm excited for the chance to do assisted pull ups! Bring it on~~

Week Seven, Day 1

 

The goal here must be to go much slower on these sets. I had no problems exceeding the 36 rep goal in the time allotted. It was a great workout though!

Nothing spectacular but I am kind of amazing at how 'easy' lunges have gotten for me.  And by easy, i don't mean a walk in the park but before my first challenge I couldn't do 1 lunge.

This was a great workout.  The gym was busy though so I had to keep possession of the TRX during breaks or I would lose it...  

 

I fell behind and didn't do Day 4 yesterday as planned.  I'm sure I can catch up though.  The core days seems to be fairly easy to add to another day.

Ok so I came over here specifically to update my progress before bed, but now my phone is dead, so I can't get my rep counts... :-P

 

I just finished up the first day of week 7 though! I'll have to put my real update in tomorrow.

I am really noticing how much of an effect this program is having. I feel so much stronger than when we began this challenge. I had been doing the BBWW for a few weeks prior to that, but YAYOG has really made a difference.
