Looks like another great day Lish! It will probably be a while before you can do dips w/o any support ;) so using your weight bench is a good idea. You could always just do static holds tho if you really want to.

 

Sorry making the birthday cake banner didn't go as plan, sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. Flipping out over something tiny is super frustrating. I've had anxiety attacks about where I'm going to park a car, not quite the same but just a frustrating. When I realize that its happening, I try to take a break from it so that I can cool down. Sometimes I'll start writing down whatever is going through my head just so I can see how ridiculous I'm being and give myself a laugh.

For your pull-up/leg raise/dip contraption, can you use resistance bands to assist with your dips? Here's an example.

Yes I realise the dip thing now - I just used to be able to do them without support (back when I was pretty buff :P). But then again back in the day I could do push ups and chin ups and dips - now I am starting all over again. Oh wells - thems the breaks. 

 

Oh I definitely laughed at myself after my tantie - seriously I don't know why such little things bother me, but they do. I tend to get shitty at things pretty easily.

I loved that ep of Supernatural - I think I was in tears by the end of it. So funny. 

 

I really like the look of those resistance band assisted dips - so bands are going on to my "to buy" list - thanks heaps for the input!

Quest 1: Failing to plan, means planning to fail


The plan is solid, the plan is good. Rest day today - so that part of the plan was easy :tongue:. Food wise I rocked it - under my calorie goal and pretty happy with what I ate - but would of liked to get in a bit more protein.


 


QUEST 2: Fit and strong for the journey ahead 


No exercise today - rest day!

Not today - rest day!


 


LIFE QUEST: Move towards the light 


Success! I spent my childless day (school/child care) buying kids birthday presents (lego and sylvanians) - so that was fun and TV free. Last night I didn't even end up doing anything after posting on NF because the youngest needed me - so last night was cuddle night, but hopefully tonight will be read comics in bed night :tongue:

Lately I've been having trouble with the rest days... I know my muscles need them but I just wanna get up and DO something!  Why am I not content sitting on the couch watching TV?! XD

 

I hate rest days and always have, because I am super competitive with myself. But they are totally non-negotiable ever since I broke my leg through the stupidity of overtraining (running every day and increasing my mileage WAY too much each week). The Spouse would sit on me if I refused to rest. Then I'd try to bench press her (she's pretty small) and she'd call my mom, who would come sit on me (she's not as small). ;-D

 

Can you go for a walk on your rest day? Walking is okay.

That's true, a nice walk would be a good compromise. I have injured myself in the past so I -should- get the importance of rest days... ^^;;

Yeah it's funny how hard it is to get protein in a healthy manner when you eat out >.<. I mean come on... I want 2 portions of meat and 4 of veggies don't give me anything else or any garbage!!

 

And yeah.... me thinks comics are a sensible reward for a solid week :)

+1 for the rest days - I managed to get a stress fracture three years ago, although that was indeed a combo of using really old running shoes too. Enjoy your downtime!
