Hey Nikki - I added you on to the Skull Crushers roster - when you have a moment you should pop over and do our weekly mini task - this week there is a questionnaire so that we can get to know each other a bit better.

It was hit and miss. the exercise part went fantastically according to plan, but I forgot my lunch like a loser... the win is I didn't binge on the cookies on the desk behind mine, but there are limited options for healthy choices around here for cheap...

For the first week of taking lunch with me, I had to go back because I forgot EVERY SINGLE DAY!  You'll remember tomorrow :)

Well, it is catchy.

 

Perhaps I missed it, but what is the training plan like for quest 1?

 

yes that song is VERY catchy...

 

I didn't really indulge. I have a rigorous routine of strength training and cardio mix. on a two week rotation, 4 days a week.

So I believe (it's written in my exercise log at home, so going from memory), note: I also go running about 2-3 times a week, and do a small 10 minute run on days where legs are not the focus.

 

Week 1:

Monday: torso/back

Wednesday: Cardio with a core cool down

Friday: usually a deep stretch (like yoga) or an intense core workout

Saturday: Legs

 

Week 2 of rotation:

Monday: Arms

Wednesday: Cardio with a core cooldown

Friday: Core workout

Saturday: Legs

 

I have an extremely weak core, so it's my focus.

 

For the first week of taking lunch with me, I had to go back because I forgot EVERY SINGLE DAY!  You'll remember tomorrow :)

Great job on staying away from the cookies! 

 

Yeah forgot my breakfast today too... it's sitting on the counter all nice and pretty and deliciously healthy... bugger!

 

Almost didn't make it through without indulging on these frackin toasters.. I mean cookies.. but I did it! *fist pump*

Thanks!! What I find most surprising is that I am still super motivated. I don't know about any of you, but whenever I set out a goal and day 1 starts and then I fall off the wagon (have some cookies, or such, or not hit the gym) and then I'm like, ok I'll start tomorrow instead, fresh start, and then continue to indulge that day... and we all know that tomorrow never comes...

 

It hasn't been like that, every time I come on here and see that someone liked or commented or quoted my posts I'm like eeeeee XD XD XD gotta keep going!

Yay for not giving up. I think the best thing is that if we slip up, we just brush that shit aside and keep going - don't wait until tomorrow - never wait until tomorrow.

 

It will take a while for good eating habits to set in - but once they have you can keep them for life. You've got this!

Absolutely I do the same thing xD it's harder for me to stay motivated on my own because I'll convince myself not to do it.  And oh lord, heaven forbid anyone try to tell me what I should be doing, that's like poking a dragon in the eye and not running away.

 

But here the community is so encouraging, you absolutely feel like you're not just letting yourself down, you're letting the whole team down.

 

Haha yeah my poor husband has been victim of trying to motivate me...

Tonight is my RCMP Informational night, so I get to know exactly what I need to get in and what it takes... Super excited! Super motivating!

 

Question.. Has anyone else suffered extreme calf pain while running? I have always had it, but last night I made sure to stretch super well and I still got it. It gets so bad that I sometimes can barely walk...

Question.. Has anyone else suffered extreme calf pain while running? I have always had it, but last night I made sure to stretch super well and I still got it. It gets so bad that I sometimes can barely walk...

Only when I switch from normal running shoes to minimal shoes. But it went away after awhile. It looks like you run pretty often, so I am surprised you always have sore calves. Hmmm...

It's sometimes all I can think about.. especially when I am at my dull day job at an office with mostly women who eat goodies allllllll day... *le sigh*

 

today was someone's 10 year anniversary... so we had cake and cookies (I did not have any), 2 days ago it was a birthday so there were cookies and cupcakes (also did not have any), and last week, everyday something was happening and there was cake every damn day and cookies, and chips and god knows what else. Only indulged once and the sugar content made me feel sick!! bleh!

 

I NEED A WILL OF IRON!!!!! or access to this group.. which I do.. and surf all day at work...

 

This must just be modern office culture, because I have exactly the same situation at work. Seems like there's some kind of "celebratory event" at least twice a week, so there are always cake and cookies around. I've been doing tons better than I used to, at the worst I'll have a small bit that fits within my calories for the day. Good for you working on that iron will, you'll soon send the treat-bringers running with merely a glare! :D

Have you been to the information night yet? What is the info???

 

Maybe check your shoes - I did one of those tests at athletic shoe shop that basically take an imprint of your feet as you walk/run - and I have really, really flat feet and also one ankle bends inwards each time I take a step. That caused me some major pain when I last tried running.

It's not just office culture - you'd be surprised how often an open bag of chocolates lives at the nurse's station in a hospital, or cookies get replenished in a break-room cupboard at a retail store. I think that so many of us are so unhappy in our jobs, we use it as an excuse to "treat" ourselves just to help us get through the friggin' day. I know I used to do that!!

Have you been to the information night yet? What is the info???

 

Maybe check your shoes - I did one of those tests at athletic shoe shop that basically take an imprint of your feet as you walk/run - and I have really, really flat feet and also one ankle bends inwards each time I take a step. That caused me some major pain when I last tried running.

 

Oh my goodness it was so inspirational! I could see some of the others in the presentation losing interest. their eyes glazed and they were like "ugh too hard not for me"

 

and I was like OMG YES!!!!

 

I also found out I am not too far off for my physical goals, I had amped myself for it to be much harder... that doesn't mean my goals lessened in any way shape or form though... gotta learn to do pull ups!!! I had amped myself up to this monstrous goal and to find out that it's not actually as hard as I had originally planned was a huge motivational boost!

I honestly think it's a comfort thing.. I work in insurance and to be truthful, nobody calls us to tell us what a great job we have and I don't know anybody on this earth who would want to actually work in insurance, all the people I talk to say they just ended up here and I think they are settling so they can pay the bills and it's depressing.. I have only been here a few years and I feel the sucking in of the sinister void of insurance and I will not let myself end up here for the rest of my life... I just can't stomach it..

Looking at a year application process (give or take..) but I need to pass the P.A.R.E before I do that... so I gotta train because that thing is a bitch!

haha control freak extrodinaire over here... I love to plan and make goals and putting each step into place to ensure that it happens.
