Also, what time of day are you running and how much water are you drinking throughout the day? Just thinking that if you load up on water at the non-running times, you might be able to cut down a little on the in-run consumption without compromising performance. I run at the end of the day, and I usually drink a fair amount (at least 6 cups at work, and then 2-4 at home), and I was still cramping. Glad to see you finished out week 2 strong. The run improvement is awesome! Maybe try walking/being upright a bit longer for cooldown before getting down on the ground to stretch? When I was in cross country it was a total no-no to sit or be on the ground right after a run, you had to go walking for at least 10 minutes or so until your heart rate had settled. Its there for a reason, read it again and remind yourself why you are doing this in the first place. YOU WANT THIS! Also I am one to just bambard myself with motivating quotes everywhere: on my phone, my computer, my tablet, my calendar EVERYWHERE! that way if you're feeling down you have something to remind yourself. I like to watch Arrow or America's Ninja Warrior or something like that to remind me WHY I wanted to get started on this journey to begin with. It's cheesy. I have a lot of reasons for why I started .... I always loved the hero stories and wanted to emulate them. But many days, I keep going because I STILL want to be a good example to my daughter and other people. I am suffering...1) Focus on non-scale victories and what improvements you've made. 2) This: 3) Finding a stress release since a lot of times, it's tied to stress. The grind can get boring and not seem very eventful, but humans adapt slowly and get better gradually; not overnight. 4) Venting. I've talked to a lot of people in PMs and usually being able to vent about being frustrated will end up leading to talking about something else that might be bothering them. (thanks so much, genetics!)I have quite a few health issues I need to address. (high cholesterol, low iron, extremely low vitamin D, pretty frickin close to kidney failure whoo hoo!!!) This is a good thing because it explains a lot... I have been super sick the last year or so, and just overall feelings of tired and sluggishness. It was one of the things that inspired me to start getting active.. which led me here. Amdhiel Posted October 4, 2014 Report Share Posted October 4, 2014 Ugh... Super glad you went to the doctor. Vitamin D deficiencies SUCK because they screw with your mood as well as other stuff >.<. It's a hazard of living in areas where the sun doesn't shine as much or as directly. I had a problem with it while I was living in Portland, OR. When I got blood work done at the beginning of the year it was no longer an issue but I still take extra a few times a week.Just remember that all the health issues are fixable and you're young enough that there shouldn't be any long term issues.
