Ahoy there, lass! Checking in and subbing.

 

Don't beat yourself up for needing more sleep. Sleep is just as healthy for you as working out. It sucks that the gym is busier, but you don't want to be falling asleep at the gym, either. You still got there and that's what matters :D

Today has started off pretty well. Was expecting to be limping around today with aching legs but they aren't bad at all. Got a bit of "butt ache" but other than that, pretty damn good. And they announced a Deadpool movie this morning, so that put me in a good mood!

Still can't decide if I do an interval session later. I haven't had a rest day this week so might be an idea to put my feet up tonight so I can still go to the gym in the morning and then run on Sunday. Plus, Mr B is out on a ghost hunt tonight so it's a perfect night to catch up on all the TV I've recorded this week. Or I could have a marathon The Last of Us session, but that game freaks me out too much when I'm on my own!

Looks like an awesome workout!  I laughed when I saw Grout. I can't wait for that movie to hit DVD!

 

I could watch that little guy dance all day! I want to go see Guardians again so badly. It's such an awesome movie.

Got a few days to catch up on! 

 

Week 1 Day 5

Rest day. But I did finish off the Ranger Mini.

 

Day 6

Strength training at the gym. 

Dumbbell Curl

4 sets of 5 reps @ 7kg each arm 

1 set of 3 reps @ 8kg each arm

 

Overhead Triceps extension (single arm)

4 sets of 5 reps @4kg

1 set of 5 reps @ 5kg

 

Lunges

5 sets of 5 reps 16kg

 

Oblique Side Bend

1 sets of 5 reps @ 8kg

4 sets of 5 reps @ 9kg

 

Plank held for 1min 25sec

 

I also did some wood-choppers using the cable machine but I forgot to note this down so can't remember what weight I set it at!

 

Day 7

 

Went for a 4.6mile run about an hour ago. Went through the park and up to the woods that runs by the side of a golf course. Think that might have to be my regular Sunday run, but must get out earlier to avoid the families out for walks!

 

End of week 1 report

 

Lift the building (Strength Training) - A

Got in all my strength training sessions and I'm up to 35kg on my squat. I have felt a little "weaker" this week though for some reason. Some of my lifts have been at a lower weight that I've been doing (Deadlift / Dumbbell curls) Maybe I'm just having an off week and will be back up again next week. We'll see.

 

Defuse the bomb (Running) - B

Giving myself a B for this as, although I did 3 runs this week, I didn't do my interval session I had planned. I screwed up a bit by doing my long run from last week on Monday instead of last Sunday so was a little exhausted by Friday. Must stick to my planned schedule next week!

 

Pull myself up from the ledge (Chin Up) - B

Lots of assisted and negatives done this week. Attempted a few unassisted chin ups and still not quite there. I've moved from eye level to nose level with the bar!! About an inch and a half to go.

 

Going to catch up on everyone's challenges now as haven't had the time since Friday. Hope everyone had a great week 1. Looking forward to week 2!  :encouragement:

Week 2, Day 1

 

So, start of week 2 and I'm starting with... a rest day! As I'm planning on doing my long run on Sunday, I'm going to keep Monday as a rest day from now on. BUT I might do some chin up work in the evening if I'm in the mood! 

 

Absolutely shattered today. Got about 4 hours sleep last night so I've been a zombie all day. Early night tonight, ready for early gym session in the morning.

Thanks, hope you have a great week 2 as well! Every training plan I've ever read has always had the day after the long run as a rest day. I can see why, I'm a bit sore today!

I'm wondering if it would be pushing myself too much to do 6 miles next Sunday. I've got to do 6 miles in my race in under 3 weeks anyway so would like to get an idea of how I'm going to do.

Week 2, day 2

 

Great session at the gym this morning. I even managed to get up before my alarm went off, that never happens! 

 

I know I started putting a list of all my lifts in my posts but it just takes way too long, so I'm going to start putting them in a spreadsheet instead. Don't know when I'll find the time for this though, got to go food shopping tonight and then Mr B wants help updating his résumé as he's going for a management position at his company. If anyone has a template spreadsheet or an example I could steal use to create my own, that would be really helpful.

 

Finally got round to purchasing New Rules of Lifting for Women. I want to start doing more barbell work as I'm using mostly dumbbells at the moment but have no clue where to start. Going to have to wait a while though as it doesn't seem to be available in the UK so got to wait for it to arrive from the US (the kindle version was more expensive than the paperback!)

Week 2, day 2

I love NROLFW! I'm only Stage 1 right now and it's a great read, and I really like the programming so far. :)

 

And I hate that a lot of e-books are more expensive than the actual, physical copy. Isn't that half the point, that it costs less to make the book so it should be cheaper???

 

I got a sample on my kindle and I really liked the way the guy writes, it was quite humorous! 

 

Ugh, I know, I thought that was the point too. I think they know people will pay more to get the book instantly. I was going to buy the Kindle version at the end of last week, but put it off. When I went to buy it yesterday, it had gone up by about 20% in price! How the hell can they justify that!

Just a quick catch up as it's getting late but this simply couldn't wait till the morning.

I was very close to just coming home tonight and crashing in front of the tv, but I forced myself to go out for a run and did 3.5 miles.

But that's not the big news. The big news is, when I got home from my run, I decided to do some chin up training. And....drum roll please..

I DID A FREAKING CHIN UP!!

1 PROPER, ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP, BADASS CHIN UP!

So happy right now. Will post a crap load of happy gifs tomorrow to celebrate!

Didn't get time to update yesterday. Work was crazy and I was really tired by the time I got home, so I had my dinner and went to bed. 

 

Look at your badass self. Congratulations!!!! That's a great accomplishment.

Week 2 Day 4 & 5

 

Day 4 was a bit of a bust. Stayed up way too late on Wednesday so couldn't get up for the gym the next day. Only managed a bit of chin up work in the evening. At least that counts towards the Rangers Mini.

 

Today, gym this morning for some Squats and Deadlifts. Was there for over an hour and only got these 2 exercises done! Not that that's a problem. I quite like spending a good bit of time on the barbell squat! It's another badass exercise!

 

As I missed yesterday, I've got to double up today. That means an interval run when I get home tonight as well. Phew!

 

I've not had anytime to catch up on anyone else's challenges the last few days. Hopefully I can have a good catch up over the weekend.
