Nymeria
Week 1, Day 2:Today, I did a fantastic job with the adulting. I did 2 hours of Xcode programming while the littlest kiddo was in preschool. I also completed another 2 cleaning chores: wiping down all of the frequently touched things (door knobs, light switches, the bannister, etc.), and cleaning all of the electronics (computer, keyboard, tablets, tv screen, video game controllers). It's a good thing I was so diligent with the adulting today, since we just got Destiny, and I'm going to be really tempted to just play it when the kiddos are in school tomorrow. Exercise stuff: I finally was able to climb today! Granted, I could only go to the lesser gym and not the better one, but I still got a lot of top rope in and endurance climbing. It was fun, stress free, and my forearms are burning, so mission accomplished. I also did 10 minutes of shoulder, neck, and wrist prehab. As far as challenge goals go, I avoided the alcohol, I failed to turn off the tv at 10 (was too busy watching the end of the Ninja warrior USA vs. Japan. Oops!), and I'm gradually adding silly things to my folder. It's all good. I'll check in on everyone tomorrow. Now, it's probably time to fire up the xbox. So, the totals are:Alcohol: 0 drinks (target <=1); Electronics off at 10: 0 days (target 5); Not taking life too seriously: OK so far; cleaning: 4 tasks done (target 10) ; mobility: 60 minutes (target 120); 4 Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? Nymeria
Week 1, Day 3:It's been a reasonably good day, fitness-wise, but maybe not so great in the adulting category. Workout:On the rings:top supportfull ROM dip negativesskin the catssome general screwing around Otherwise:jumping lunges - the first set was pretty dodgy, but then I gained some confidence in my knee and became more fluid.assisted pistols - the rings make a great assist.calf raisesmultiple runs up the stairsclapping push-upsforearm stands Yoga: Half hour combo program - I LOVE this program so much, and it's really intense. It includes a bunch of balances, crow, wheel, one legged wheel, wild thing, bound headstand, and other stuff. (Counts as 15 minutes toward mobility goal). I'm finally at a point where I can fully kneel with my heel touching my rear, but it's still really uncomfortable. Additional 5 minutes of shoulder, neck, and wrist prehab. Adulting: I did one cleaning task today (cleaning kids' bathroom - ick). Unfortunately, my son has been ridiculously clingy, so I end up having to play with him all day rather than handling adult stuff. I also ended up doing my workout while he was at preschool, rather than coding. I needed to for once do yoga without someone constantly interrupting me. I was good about turning off the electronics at 10 last night, and I avoided alcohol (although I really wanted a cider, damn it). I enjoyed looking through my happiness folder. Yes, the tortoise porn from last challenge is there. Yes, I'm immature enough that it still makes me giggle. Alcohol: 0 drinks (target <=1); Electronics off at 10: 1 day (target 5); Not taking life too seriously: OK so far; cleaning: 5 tasks done (target 10) ; mobility: 80 minutes (target 120); 5 Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? KB Girl
Nice work! I'm impressed with the dip negs. I'm assuming you're not crashing out of the rings at the bottom Adulting is not bad either really, taking care of the kids kind of fits in that category doesn't it? And taking care of yourself by not going crazy through being able to do uninterrupted yoga for once.. Yea that counts. 1 Main Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and a great coach Current challenge: KB Girl stomps on some frogs and goes to sleep (maybe) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment

Nymeria
The one snag with the Yoga studio app is that it's only for apple devices. So, if you only have an android, you're out of luck. I really appreciate that the sequences are well explained without having the instructor be overly talkative. I have a hard time doing yoga when someone is yammering at me the entire time. Plus, her voice is soothing enough that I can kind of tune it out when I don't want or need the instructions. 1 Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? Nymeria
Today has been a 'meh' challenge day. I was the parent helper at preschool, so I had no time for adulting. After preschool, I did 20 minutes of hooping and 30 minutes of strength focused yoga (I only get 6 minutes of credit for the mobility goal) while simultaneously entertaining my son. I didn't have a chance for any cleaning or such. I'm still doing well with the no alcohol and electronics off at 10 goals. I'm getting much better at the shoulder hooping, but I'm still confused and frustrated with chest rolls. I'm enjoying Destiny. The game seems like Halo and Borderlands got a bit cozy and made a love child. I just wish it allowed for split-screen multiplayer so my husband and I could play together rather than having to take turns. Is this the one you mean? (yoga studio comes up with a couple results when searching) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/yoga-studio/id567767430?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D2 Yep. That's the one! Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? Nymeria
Week 1, Day 5I kind of needed a rest day, since I'm pretty sore and will hopefully go climbing tomorrow. But, since I'm psychologically incapable of taking a rest day at this point, I instead went for some cardio and mobility. I did my own version of the TMNT workout, which is much more fun than the NF version. It's basically:-5 minutes of bo staff-5 minutes of chucks-5 minutes of sword-5 minutes of kicking and forms (sorry, I don't do sai). Kicking is still a bit awkward, but I'm gradually getting more comfortable. I couldn't remember all of the moves in Gae-Baek, so I had the sadz. And then I did shoulder, neck, forearm, and wrist prehab, followed by rolling out my forearms and shoulder blades, followed by very light yoga. (total of 15 minutes toward mobility goal). Otherwise, there will be much adulting today, since a lot of adult things need to get accomplished. 6 Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? Nymeria
Days 5 and 6 update:I did one cleaning task last night (sweeping the floors), and I had one drink in the evening. So, now I have to refrain from drinking when my football team plays on Sunday. Grrr.. Week 1, Day 6:Climbing!!! I'm still stuck at the same spot on an 11a, but I made great progress on some bouldering routes. For both a V3 and V4, I'm sure I can do the route, but I'll need to tie in and have my husband belay me. I'm just too bothered by the high chance of falling from 8' up. I am breaking my climbing height rules on V2s and easier routes. Basically, if I'm absolutely sure I won't fall, I'm letting myself top out while bouldering. I can't wait until my knee is fully healed. Climbing with a brace is a bit annoying, and it would be nice to feel confident in my ability to take a fall again. Also, much adulting was done. I wiped down, decluttered, de-trashed, and vacuumed both vehicles. I'm counting it as 3 cleaning tasks, since it took about an hour. I'm leaving soon to take my daughter to parkour class. Hopefully, I can do a bit of shoulder, neck, and wrist stretching while she's in class. I'm probably not going to meet my alcohol goal, and I already can't meet my electronics off goal. Still, I feel like the challenge is off to a great start! Alcohol: 1 drinks (target <=1); Electronics off at 10: 3 days (target 5); Not taking life too seriously: OK so far!; cleaning: 9 tasks done (target 10) ; mobility: 101 minutes (target 120); 3 Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? Nymeria
Week 1, Day 7:Workout: 45 minutes yoga. I made a pretty awesome program using the yoga studio app, so I did bird of paradise pose, eight angle pose, flying crow, wild thing, wheel, and a bunch of cool leg balance flows. I followed this with some mobility and prehab work on my shoulders, forearms, and wrists. Total of 25 minutes toward the mobility goal. I also did a bunch of kicking for the mini-challenge. The front snap kicks feel okay, side kicks feel great (and I'm almost back to full power), axe and crescent kicks feel great, roundhouse kicks are still awkward, and hook kicks are really awkward. My hamstring is still really touchy. Cleaning: Today, I decluttered and cleaned out one of our cabinet/toy chests. That makes it 10 cleaning tasks for the week! Alcohol: I'm watching football, and I'm not drinking. I really wish I could do some work with my bo staff today. It feels so great to be striking and swinging it around again. Unfortunately, I can only really do weapons when the kids aren't around, which largely means I have to save it for the times when my son is at preschool. 4 Level 30? who the hell knows anymore?
