Jittersthe.Clown
...I've been terrible at posting here, and it drives me a little nutty. I've at least checked in, but haven't posted much as all. Wrap up of week 2Keep the Mojo mojoing:4/3 - A+6/18Got in a run and a BBWW Thursday and Friday. My run time was off, as I'm having a bit of knee pain. 9 minute miles for 4 miles. The BBWW was also slower, but I got all 3 circuits in. I asked my wife to make sure I do something that night cause I was feeling likeon working out and when she saw me on the couch, she got my ass off it and got me going. So, I asked, and received help this week! Finally. My company was shut down on Friday, so I felt like I had all the time in the world, but got focused on everything else that day, so I was glad I had asked her. All that heavy isn't going to lift itself:1/3 - F2/18Not doing that great on this one. I went to my brothers and did some bench presses, but I really need to find my way to a gym for these. Time is a hot commodity these days, so I'm not making it a priority as I should be. Peace can only come from within: 5/5 - A8/30Wed-Fri was morning meditations. I'm looking a lot at what I want to do with my life and where I can go in the immediate and in the future. I don't have a plan yet, but I have eliminated some options. Everybody needs somebody:1/6Finally got over myself and asked for help. Now to see if I can at least pull off a B for this one and keep my grades up there. I found out on Thursday night that I am not going any further with my application in Seattle. Admittedly, it bummed me out a little bit. For one thing, this is the first job I've applied for and not been offered after interviewing. Kind of a blow to the ego, but with an ego as large as mine (think size of Texas), it can use a little checking now and then. I don't know that I am ready to pack everything up on MN just yet. I'm still looking for jobs, though. Can't keep me down. We are experiencing more shut down days in the past couple weeks, and we may even be moving to a 4 day work week because of it. Whatever happens, happens. My neighbor has made a full recovery and the bruising has gone down considerably. They never caught the second attacker, but they are pressing charges on the first guy and I'm expected to be in court if/when it comes to trial. Sounds like it's going to be a few months. I have been feeling like poo for the last 4-5 days, but trying to convince myself that I'm not getting sick. It's mostly worked, but I'm tired a lot and not enjoying things as much. I'll get over it, but it just sort of sucks to feel like this. Enjoyable points to my weekend: Finished a stained glass piece for my niece (my goddaughter) who got confirmed on Sunday. I'll get pics posted when I get them uploaded. Had some time up at my brother's house with his boys while he was at the Autumn Brew Review. A 5 and two 2 year olds. We played a lot and had a lot of fun. I'm now on a mission to find another Jolly Roger for their play structure. Christmas will be fun. Played a lot of soccer with my son and daughter. I'm so glad he's enjoying it. Two more weeks of it. I've officially been caffeine free for a week. I'm giving it another run. I've been allowing a coffee every other day and it's been pretty successful, but I want to be done with it. Week 3 is here. Let's rock, every one. 1 Level 2 Warforged Druid STR: 2, DEX: 1, STA: 3, CON: 3, WIS: 2, CHA: 3 "If these people tell this story to their children as they sleep; then maybe someday they'll see a hero is just a man who knows he is free." Jittersthe.Clown
I'm still having issues with my shoulder. I've got PT on Friday to see if it will help. I'm also having some wrist issues where it hurts to hold things while it's straight out. And when I do push ups. And my knee is not loosening up like it usually does. I feel like I'm falling apart I think it's part of the reason I haven't been lifting. I worry about injury. On the plus side, I signed up for my first 10k. I was going back and forth on it and now that I've paid, there's no turning back. Fun story from soccer practice last night. Jitters Junior and I were on our way to his practice when I asked if he had his water bottle packed. He mentioned that no, he doesn't. Fortunately, we were at a red light right next to an Aldi. Stop in and grab a case of water. For two bucks, I felt like it was worth it. The kids get going with their stretches and I sit down with my book. They are doing a lot of running on this practice and after 20 minutes, the coach calls for a water break. One of the kids mentioned she didn't have a water bottle today. A few others mentioned it as well. I get up and run to Toddsly and grab the case. I bring it back and offer it up to any of the kids who want it. The coach thanked me for it and they move on with the practice. On the way home, JJ mentions to me that it was nice that I shared the water with his teammates. I said it was a small thing that I could do. He told me "the small things can be a big deal". I was smiling for the rest of the night thinking he is getting it. Moments like that make everything else seem insignificant. Keep the Mojo mojoing:3/49/22Yoga last night to stretch out. New poses that I can't really do yet. All that heavy isn't going to lift itself:0/3 2/18Ummm.... yeah... Peace can only come from within: 2/5 9/30Meditated this morning for 25 minutes. Raxie
Jitters it sounds like you're doing great, sans the lifting, and if you're worried about getting injured maybe now isn't the right time to lift anyway. Or maybe you could work on perfecting your form and lift much lighter weights? Sharing that water was a really great thing to do, all these awesome things you talk about doing it sounds like you think it's just a nice thing anyone else would do but really... a lot of people wouldn't (in fact I'm sadly tempted to say most people wouldn't). Jittersthe.Clown
I'm doing alright. Right now, I have to focus on how to not be hurting when I lift things (like a book. Seriously, it can be that light weight). I will have to have it looked at if it doesn't go away. I know most people wouldn't, but I'm glad my son can see that some people would. And that one of them is his father. green eggs
It does sound sensible to work with a PT and get a professional opinion on what might be hurting when you're lifting. I'm sure you'll get some good advice on how to start back up again slowly. Plus, it's worth asking specifically if there's a anything to do to build up shoulder or wrist strength/flexibility and "loosen up" your knees. Good luck! Link to comment

Jittersthe.Clown
It sucked with clean up and that I had to pay for a replacement, but the hardware store that did it got it done inside of a day and it was about $10 less, so small victories are celebrated. What sucked with the clean up is it was right over one of the kids' Lego tables. And yes, we have more than one... cleaning up bits of glass in a table full of bricks sucks ass. I got in what I could with a modified BBWW last night and did a lot of squats for a PVP challenge. A lot of squats. Fortunately, I can rock those. Got a run in this morning. Jittersthe.Clown
Keep the Mojo mojoing:3/422/22Did a load of 70 squats last night. It's helping me because when I try for my push ups, my shoulder starts to hurt, so this gives me something else to focus on. Oh, I got stilts yesterday. So much fun. I am getting pictures emailed to me from my brothers phone. When I get them, I'll post them. (Brother just emailed them) Jitters is going to become the worlds tallest dwarf. All that heavy isn't going to lift itself:0/3 2/18 Peace can only come from within: 3/5 16/30Thought about the fun times shared with my grandfather over the years. I need to write more of his eulogy. More on grandpa below. Everybody needs somebody:2/6 His liver is failing and his kidneys are following right behind. He mentioned to me on Monday that he always felt like he never accomplished as much as his brothers. One is a (multi) PhD and knows 7 languages (including 2 dead ones) and the other has his masters and retired as an engineer. I made mention to my grandpa that he had 7 kids. He retired off the St. Paul fire department after becoming Chief and even went on to be a fire inspector. He reached the absolute top of his profession. None of his kids or 11 grand kids ended up in jail (longer than an overnighter...) and have so far, produced 11 great grand kids that look up to him as a source of pride and inspiration. He taught me about the finer points of boating and working for what you want in this life instead of expecting it to come to you. He and my son love to spend time telling each other the best groaner jokes they know. He's been married for 63 years and at the end of last year, the doctors wrote him off for dead before the end of the 2013. We got an extra 10 months with him to share some good times, my younger brother's wedding, more bad jokes and a lot of happiness. His is not a life ill spent. We celebrate his life because it was a life worth celebrating. In a lot of ways, logically, I know that we are all going to die. There's just no way around that. I lost my father two years ago and while I felt a sense of loss, it was the loss of what could have been with him while growing up. Now that my grandpa is passing, I feel a sense of loss for what he's going to miss in the future and that I am going to miss him. I feel bad that I have a stronger emotional connection to my grandpa than I did my own father. But, I know that life moves on. The memories remain happy ones. He's asked that all of us grand kids raise a beer in toast to his memory. We went out and have a case ready.Enjoy the moments everyone.
