More to come here as I actually think of it over this week.

High points:

  • 1st silks performance on 10/11
    • Need:
      • finish choreography, smooth out transitions between moves.
      • hair/costume/makeup plan
    • Have:
      • song
      • choreography outline
      • intermittent minor freak outs.
  • Hand/finger joint pain/strengthening
    • Continue previous happy hands routine
    • Theraputty! I bought some of this stuff to help with hand strength. It should arrive today or tomorrow. Hopefully I've ordered the correct resistance. I like this list of exercises

  • Last week or so of the challenge (after the performance, thankfully) I'll be at a conference for work, so I'll need a plan for that.

The Routine (pasted from last challenge)
Cute, pointy-toed dance-y movements on the floor prior to the lyrics starting
Bicycle climb x 3
Inverse crucifix drop (sorrows)
Bug drop (passions)
Egg-beater foot locks
splits
splits the other way
Georgia roll--pose
X-back
Knee hang--pose
Foot hang
Fish pose
Recover
Fruit roll up (x3) (woo-woo's)
Teardrop
Pose--do something pretty with free foot
Unwind teardrop
Unwind fruit roll up
Single foot lock
Stag/arabesque/ships maiden combination
Bent knee single foot lock inverted stuff--swish the silks around in a purposeful way
End in pretty pose
Descend after music ends, to riotous applause.

I'm sure you've written it down somewhere, but what's your happy hand routine?

I use this http://www.health.harvard.edu/healthbeat/5-exercises-to-improve-hand-mobility-and-reduce-pain

Seems to help. The TheraPutty will hopefully strengthen tendons and joints more so than these non-resistance exercises. (which have been great so far and I'll keep doing for rehab/prehab.)

How is Destiny?!

Destiny is pretty good. I have confirmed multiple times that PvP is not for me as I get too frustrated being cannon fodder. The rest is good, strikes are HARD and the story is a bit meh so far, but I keep wanting to play it so that says something.

 

This looks awesome! Excited to see how your performance goes.

Thanks! I'll be putting in some extra practice hours to make sure I don't make a fool of myself.

I haven't looked into TheraPutty for wrist issues. I imagine, depending on the exercises you use, you could use it for that, but there may be more effective things to try for wrist health.

I haven't even dipped into the multiplayer yet. If it is like Halo I will not be very good, but have loads of fun driving all the vehicles and throwing grenades all willy nilly.

 

What system are you playing on? I'm playing PS4. If you ever need someone to do co-opy things with just send me a PM or a raven... whichever works for you.

I'm a time traveler, but I can only go one way and only a second at a time.

Hubs and I are on PS4, too! So far, our third for strikes has just been randoms. Might be nice to have an actual person that I know, instead. 

 

Multiplayer = sylph getting shot in the head unawares every 20 seconds. Seriously, my K/D is like 0.3 or something.

 

Eeeeeeee, this is my dream!  Subbing for silks!  I want to do this so bad.

TheraPutty came yesterday. I got 4 oz, which is a nice big ball of it and fills my hand for squeezing pretty well. I was worrie dit wouldn't be enough, but if anything it might be slightly much. Way better than too little, for sure.

 

It's essentially Silly Putty,(just more of it) but you can get it in different resistances. The red putty I've got is "medium" which seems mostly appropriate? I played around with it last night a bit. I'm going to drop it in  my briefcase to bring to work since that seems to be where I remember to do hand exercises.

I would totally shoot all the aliens with you. Seems like this game is meant to be played co-op. It's awesome that you and your husband play together. I play with my partner, but she is not the best at shooters and it makes her frustrated. She'd rather slash at things with a sword or jump on top of enemies heads.

I am not super great at shooters, but as long as it's not PvP where I'm up against twitchy 15 year olds jacked up on Mt. Dew and Red Bull, I don't tend to get frustrated. :)

 

Apparently you can't add friends from the web. (How dumb!) I'll add you when I get home, though.

*frantic waving* Hiiiii! :D

 

I debated for awhile between the putty or a squeeze ball thing or a traditional grip trainer. I decided that the putty was the most versatile to get grip, individual fingers/thumb and also training hand extension to help balance things out a bit.
