Packelly- Getting Lean

Yllek

Recommended Posts

Legs were shredded last night.  The plan I'm following had me do a ton of rep on the leg press. I was supposed to do a 10 sets going 50,40,30,20,10,10,20,30,40,50 reps.  I didn't start with the right weights so it was hard to get into the order of the workout. I also tried to do squats in between sets, which wasn't a good idea. I got my 75 squats done though.  Who needs to walk? walking is totally overrated.

This morning I went out for a walk to try to get some blood flowing through my legs to try to lessen the DOMS that I know will be coming.  I ended up doing week1/day3 of the zombie 5k training. My legs feel like led right now. Today should be fun.

Leg Press
reps x lbs
30x180
15x140
15x140
20x110
10x180
10x140
20x110
30x90
20x70

There is never a sudden revelation, a complete and tidy explanation for why it happened, or why it ends, or why or who you are. You want one and I want one, but there isn't one. It comes in bits and pieces, and you stitch them together wherever they fit, and when you are done you hold yourself up, and still there are holes and you are a rag doll, invented, imperfect. And yet you are all that you have, so you must be enough. There is no other way.

Leg ouchies for you.  But seriously walking and sitting and going to the toilet are all overrated

No kidding.  I'm afraid today is worse.  I was in quite a predicament yesterday, I didn't want to keep drinking water to avoid having to go to the restroom so often, yet I know I need to drink water to not make the pain worse and last longer.  Ugh the struggle. ^_^

It's not easy.  That's for sure. But if it helps me lean out, it's worth trying.

Yesterday workout wasn't a very good one.  I was working out while my son was at swim practice and the weather turned ugly so the practice got cut short.  Which means my workout got cut short. Didn't do squats or anything pull up related. That would all be resumed today.......well I'm not sure if the squats will.

Here is a recap for yesterday.

Strength Training was done. (Shoulders)

Squats only 45.....quads are still hurting

Pull-up work was done.

Cardio was not done.

No alcohol or ice cream.  Although I could use 1 or the other right now.

No stretching

Expenses were tracked

And Procrastination was achieved at its best.

I don’t know what’s going on with my body, but I’m exhausted.  I haven’t been able to get up on time to workout which is weird for me because I’ve been waking up before my alarm (not getting out of bed, but just waking up) for the past 2 weeks.  Evening workouts are limited to less than hour, which means I can either do cardio or strength. Anyways, today I woke up on time, but it took me a long time to get moving, and my legs are still really sore, and I also woke up with everything else aching (lower back, knees, arms and my semi-healed foot) I think my body is asking for a rest day, which depending on how I feel at the end of the day I will take or not. I was going to make yesterday a rest day, since I’ve worked out Sunday, Monday & Tuesday but since I find doing shoulders easy, I was up for it. The plan I’m following has me taking the next 2 days off anyways, but since I’m going on the cruise on Sunday I’m just going to take today.  I’m doing a walk through on a job site  at work, so at least I won’t be sitting on my bum all day. But I’ll see if I’m up for cardio when I get off work.

Standing barbell press behind neck. I didn't like this excersice. A rack was not available and I was concern about hurting myself so I kept it light.
10x30#
8x40#
8x40#
8x40#
10x30#

Military press Couldn't use the rack for this one either.
6x50#
6x50#
5x50#
8x45#
8x45#

Superset
Upright Barbell row
15x35#
15x45#
12x45#

Weighted sit-ups on decline bench
10x10#
12x10#
15x10#

Pull-ups
8 Assisted Pull-upps@ 45lbs
5 bodyweight rows
5 assisted pull-ups @ 45lbs
5 bodyweight rows
20 hold at a hang

I did the body rows at the pull up station. I just propped myself up on the bar and put my feet on the bar in front of it. It was challengeing but I think I can go with higher reps tomorrow.

Sometimes you just need to take it easy - if that is what your body is telling you to do. You could also look at your diet and make sure you are getting enough Iron - sometimes when I go too long without red meat I start to get a bit tired.

I doubt is iron, I eat plenty of red meat. Which I really shouldn't because is getting pretty expensive pretty expensive where I live. I don't know what it is. This week has been weird at night. I either fall asleep really early and still can't get up on time in the morning or it takes me a while to fall asleep and I wake up multiple times during the night. Today I feel better and I'm about to go out for a walk.

I thought about that, because there are like 3 people that are sick in my office but besides feeling exhausted and achy I don't have any symptoms.

So I have sucked the past 2 days. I have not been feeling up to working out at all. I'm not sure if it's stress related or what. This week was pretty hectic at work, and I also had to take time to train a someone to do my job while I'm gone on vacation. I can't wait to leave on that cruise. I think it will do me so good. Thankfully the kiddo has been doing much better with homework. Offering to 15 minutes of video game time if he brings everything from school and gets homework done on time has been enough motivation for him. I hope it last for a while.

Last night I sat down to write the budget for October. I managed to lower my expenses by a lot this month. I'm very proud of myself, but then again September was an easy month. I had prepaid my son swimming team fee, and half of day care. This month I have the cruise, which I'm going to control what I spend on, I'm taking my son camping and we have Halloween. So it'll be interesting how I can manage to do all this within budget.

Today will be my last workout before the cruise, I will be bringing workout clothes with me, but I doubt I will do much on the cruise. I will try though, that way I don't feel guilty for eating so much.

Talking about eating, I ate some ice cream yesterday. [emoji17]. I didn't think about it. We had a luncheon at work and they brought cup cakes and ice cream. They said they bought the ice cream for me since I can't eat the cup cakes and handed me a cup. I swear I started eating it and half way done I realized I wasn't supposed to. Oh well, it was delicious!!!!

Hmm not sure then - but sometimes feeling exhausted and achey can mean the start of a cold or flu. I hope that isn't the case though.

I hope that's not the case either. My cruise leaves tomorrow. Eeek.

How long are you on the cruise for? Sounds like a much needed break - I hope you have a blast :)

I leave tomorrow and be back on Thursday. And yes, it will be nice to not have to worry about much for a few days.

I'm back!!!! Cruise was pretty great. I worked out the first 2 days that I was there, and then I was too hungover to really care. I went scuba diving, got to spend time at the beach and had desert every single night. It was great!!!! Now for the not so great, I got a picture of me in a bathing suit and I'm not too crazy about it. But it definitely serves as motivation for me to get back on track right away and work much harder to get to where I want to be. I'm going to post it here because I've been too tempted to delete it off my phone and I want to be able to compare it with my end of the challenge picture and with the end of the year picture.....and hopefully they all will look a lot better.

I will weight myself tomorrow morning to see the damage from the cruise, and I will be back at the gym.

Here goes nothing.

Absolutely use the photo for motivation! Today's self versus yesterday's self is good competition. =) You already have a better body composition than a whole lot of people and your legs look muscular, too.
