Challenge #7: I Can Feel The Pressure...



MAIN QUEST: Lose Weight Feel Great!


To hit my goal range of 125-135 and do it in a healthy way!


Goals (diet and fitness related) that will help me achieve Main Quest:

1. No gluten

- this has been my issue for the longest time! I've gotta get a handle on it! NO CHEATS!!!

A: 36-42 days

B: 30-35 days

C: 25-29 days

D: 20-25 days

F: <20 days

Ability to earn 3 CON points.



2. No pop/soda - I am working on a year long challenge with this one!!



A: 36-42 days
B: 30-35 days
C: 25-29 days
D: 20-25 days
F: <20 days
Ability to earn 2 CON points.



3. Workout 3x per week

- I have to restart somewhere! This will be any sort of exercise I want it to be!! (Starting week 2, due to my job!)

A: 13-15 days
B: 10-12 days
C: 7-9 days
D: 4-6 days
F: <4 days

Ability to earn 2 STA, 2 STR points.

Side Quest 1: Become a BeachBody Coach

- this is something I've wanted to do for a long time, so I want to take some steps and actually DO it!

Steps towards becoming a BB Coach:

1. Start up money - I need to get around $200 to purchase the challenge pack I want, which includes the 21 Day Fix and Shakeology, plus the coach sign up fee.

2. Get living room in shape so I can actually work out using my television!!!

3. Actually sign up!

With my new job, working my new awesome hours (8:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday, with school breaks off!!) I should be able to keep up with other people this challenge!! Yay!!!! :)

 

Oh, and guess what?? Hubs passed all his classes!!! He graduated from Respiratory Therapy school and all he has to do is pass his boards and he will be able to get a good job and we won't have to worry so much!! Yay again!!

 

I am hoping when he starts working we can get a membership to the YMCA so I can work out no matter the weather!! :)

 

So, go out there and kick some ass!!

Well... Monday was Monday... long ass day at work. I am so glad I start my new job next week and the hours won't be so grueling!! We have inventory at work today, and I heard we are getting donuts and pizza, neither of which I can eat, so I will need an extra shot of will power! :)

Looking good here! I might adapt those day reports (1/42 etc.) from you, that's really a cool way to get most accountability, but I guess I have been to lazy to use it before ;)). I'll make sure to follow your thread this challenge. Good luck, you're gonna kick ass for sure!

It's just too much this week!! And I don't want to get discouraged right out of the gate, so I changed it to only include the next 5 weeks.

This looks good! About that workout change - that's probably a good idea, one wouldn't want to get discouraged right away! You have to tell us about your new job soon ;).

Sorry... had somewhat of an adjustment last week and this. My middle son came home from New York to stay. He will be going to school in state next semester. And of course, I started my new job. It's a perfect schedule, but man these kids are ROUGH!! I mean, inner city rough... and they are elementary kids beating each other up and cussing... it's crazy!! 

 

Yesterday I had a migraine all day, so after work I went to the store and got groceries and then came home and took a nap, then went and got more groceries from the other store and came home and made dinner. Today when I got off work I didn't take a nap, but I do feel like I will be going to bed early tonight! I have not worked out yet... I am trying to figure out what exactly I want to do for workouts. I haven't actually gotten that far in my head yet. I did make a decision that I will not start running until I lose some significant weight. I feel like it would be too hard on my joints at this weight. So, I know what I am NOT going to do... just not sure what I AM going to do lol

I did make a decision that I will not start running until I lose some significant weight. I feel like it would be too hard on my joints at this weight. So, I know what I am NOT going to do... just not sure what I AM going to do lol

Yeah, jogging takes 4x your weight in terms of strain on your knees. It's insane how much force there is. I feel the same way. I want to be at least more than halfway towards my goal before I start thinking about that.  For something at home, there's always sandjugs and sledgehammerrrrrrrrrrrrrrs :P

I keep thinking I am going to start doing a body weight workout, but it seems like ALL of the BW workouts I find requires a pull up bar... I don't have any doorways that will support my pull up bar in this apartment... so, not really sure what to do for pull ups when I don't have a pull up bar lol

 

Hey Scout! Congrats on the new job. I hope you get in a rhythm and regular schedule soon. That will certainly make getting your workouts in easier. Also, yay for tattoo rewards :D  My wife just got a new on over the weekend. Hopefully we get to see some of your photography this challenge also!

I just realized that I have been on Nerd Fitness for a year. I am trying really hard not to get depressed at how far (um... how little) I have come in a year. I am in the same spot I was a year ago... here's my recap:

 

My First Challenge:

 

Had just won my first Diet Bet and was doing the Whole 30. I had gone from 219 to 204. I had decided to become a NASM CPT, which hasn't happened yet (money issues, could not make the payments, and just kind of failed at actually getting this done.) 

 

So, here is how I did:

  • Log food and exercise - 7/7 - 7/7 - 7/7 - 7/7 - 7/7 - 7/7 - 42/42 - FINISHED IT! - A = +1 CON

    4 Week Boot camp  - 3/3 - 3/3 - 3/3 - 3/3  - 12/12 - FINISHED IT!! - A =  +1 STR

  • 3x a Week Cardio - 2/3 - 2/3 - 3/3 - 2/3 - 3/3 - 1/3 - 13/18 - C 

    4x a Week Study for 1 Hour - 4/4 - 4/4 -0/4 - 8/12 - C = +1/2 WIS

  • Got down to 196.6lbs - B+ = +1 CON I lost 7.4 lbs during this challenge. Not too bad, because I also lost inches! :)

My Second Challenge:

 

I sprained my ankle (it STILL gives me fits!!). 

Got down to 195.6. - 2.5 CON

Strength Training Circuit  - 3/3 - 3/3 - 3/3 - 1/3 - 2/3 - 0/3  - 12/18 - 2.5 STR

3x a Week Other Exercises - 3/3 - 3/3 - 3/3 - 0/3 - 3/3 - 0/3 - 12/18 - 2.5 STA
Study 4 hours per week - 4/4 - 5.5/4 - 8/4 - 
5/4 - 6/4 - 0/4 - 28.5/24 - 2 WIS

 

My Third Challenge:

 

Log water intake - at least 80 oz per day - 4/7 - 4/7 - 4/7 - 4/7 - 0/7 - 16/35 - C
3x a Week Yoga/Pilates/T25/Whatever - 3/3 - 3/3 - 3/3 - 0/0 - 0/3 - 9/15 - C
Declutter 15 minutes per day -  36/42 - B-

Read 6 books in 6 weeks - 1/1 - 1/1 - 1/1 - 1/1 - 1/1 - 0/1 - 5/6 - B-

 

Met goal of 189 or size 14 or waist 34... Pretty sure it was just size 14. 

 

My Fourth Challenge, part 1:

Didn't finish it.

6. No binging - B (I actually don't do this anymore, so that's SOMETHING!)

got my job at CVS during this challenge. Killed my body!

3. Kind of a hybrid of no pop and washing my face every night - B

5. Blog/Vlog - D

 

Ok, first off, I don't want anyone trying to put a positive spin on this... I am not throwing out negative talk for the sake of being negative. In this last year, I have failed myself on my quest for better health and fat loss. This is nobody's fault but my own. I feel like I have just been extremely lazy. I know my injury and my job at CVS put a lot of strain on my body, but surely there was something I could have done. Something instead of nothing. And it's been a YEAR. An ENTIRE YEAR since I started here, and I have made no real progress. Yes, I eat better now. I don't eat gluten, I don't drink pop... but I haven't lost any fat and I haven't gained much muscle (although I can almost beat my boys in arm wrestling [and my middle son, 19, did say, "damn mom, you're strong as hell!! Have you been working out!?]). 

 

I also don't want a pity party. This is all my own doing. I need to get back to that place where I started a year ago, where I was really excited about losing weight and gaining strength. Where I really wanted to be a personal trainer. (I'm on the fence on this right now, just because I don't feel like anyone would take me seriously as a trainer since I cannot even help myself to lose weight!!) I need to adopt a NO EXCUSES attitude again!! And just effing DO IT!!

I know exactly how you feel, I've been here since November of last year and I've been frustrated as hell because I have been the exact same weight the whole time. I've been messing with different things, work outs, food. Nothing has moved the scale. Its obnoxious, but I'm with you, no excuses, just do it!

 

I know... it's ridiculous!! Just get off me weight!! And hey booty... get off the effing couch and move already!!
