Femme Fatales

 

 

Together we form a ring of powerful and dangerous women.  Our shared goal is to lose 100+ and to have each other’s backs.  We are a welcoming bunch and appreciate the struggles of those who have already started their journey and have gotten below the 100 mark and those who are fighting to avoid the 100 mark altogether. 

 

The Purpose: To have fun and be supportive with our eyes on the journey rather than the destination. 

 

With our goals off in the distance we will make the journey fun and support each other when we feel the goal is not attainable or too far away.

 

The Rules:

 

1.         Follow the challenge threads of others in the group.  This is meant to be not too demanding, so depending on the size of the

            group you don’t need to follow everyone.  Keep focus on your own challenge

2.         There will be weekly challenges. These can and should be scaled to your own comfort level.

3.         Don’t over extend on any mini challenge. We don’t want to sacrifice our own challenge for the sake of the mini-quests.

4.         Post weekly recaps of your challenges so we can help each other.

Week 1 Challenge -

 

Our mission headquarters have been compromised.  Many spies had their covers blown and were captured.  You have fled the scene and need to regroup.  You suspect that there is an enemy cell in the camp on the other side of the mountain responsible.  It’s a long and treacherous journey.  You could go it alone but with the lack of back you up you decide to try to find some other Femme Fatales that may have escaped and work together. 

 

Challenge – Meet and Greet.  Check out the threads of the companions that have survived, sub,  and gather the troops.

Week 2 Challenge

 

You and your fellow spies have gathered in an old abandoned warehouse and set up a makeshift camp.  After gathering all the information from your companions you decide to cross the mountain and stake out the enemy camp.  You have learned that the only road crossing the mountain pass is under surveillance so you must find another way across.  You will be taking an alternate route away from any civilization.  To prepare for the journey you must pack some supplies.  Most important is water.  Fill your canteens.

 

Challenge – Hydrate.  Stay hydrated this week.  If you are not drinking enough water try to increase it.  If you are already getting enough, try giving up soda or juice.  You will not have access to those beverages on your trip.

Week 3 Challenge

 

All supplies have been gathered and rucks packed.  It’s time to head out.  The quicker we act the better our advantage.

 

Challenge – Walk.  Walking is our best friend.  When other things may still be beyond our fitness level we can always walk.  Injuries? Walk.  Go slow, go fast, alternate, climb a hill or don’t.  Add some walking to your week.  So how far you can go.  If walking is already part of your challenge, try to get an extra walk in this week or try to push the distance or time to complete.  Share your results.

Week 4 Challenge

 

The journey so far has been rough.  Many of us are weary from other battles but we must stick together to avenge our fallen comrades and secure our futures.  We have crossed the foothills and crossed the Great Plateau.  Our target is just on the other side of this mountain.  We stand at the base, gazing upward.  We know what has to be done.  Once we get to the peak we can start some much needed reconnaissance.  No one speaks a word but one by one we begin to climb. 

 

Challenge: Pull exercises.  Do whatever pull exercises are at your fitness level - 1-arm weighted rows, bodyweight rows, inverted rows, pullups?   Three sessions should get us to the top but we can help each other.

Week 5 Challenge

 

We have almost made it to the peak of this mountain.  We have to be careful not to be seen.  Before continuing any further, we need to make camp and prepare some victuals.  We'll be heading out soon enough to complete this mission.  The party breaks out into the wilderness, foraging.  

 

Challenge: In order to be successful we need proper fuel.  To be anti-fragile sometimes you will have to be creative and use what you have access to.  Prepare something new for 1 meal.  Take a pic and post the recipe to share.

Week 6 Challenge

 

We survived the difficult journey so far.  We made it to the peak, and made camp.  Now is the time for some business.  We need to get into position to do some recon but we don't want to be seen.  Stay low to ground and keep your eyes open.  

 

Challenge:  Core exercises.  Planks, knee planks, leg lifts, supermans, whatever you can handle.  Let's finish up this challenge with some core work.

HI all! I'm joedog! I'm soon to be 39 and living in the middle of the US. I live with my partner and our 8 assorted cats and dogs. I work in highway construction. The next 6 weeks or so are going to be a little crazy at work. I also have a tendency to write walls of text. Sorry about that.  :peaceful:

 

Last challenge was pretty much a non-starter for me. My weight has crept back up. I don't know my exact start weight. Need to get that before Monday. I usually hang out in the Monks' guild. My main form of exercise is boxing and kickboxing classes at Title Boxing Club. I need to add some serious mobility work back in also. This challenge I'm going to be working on getting more exercise. Work has kept me from being able to have a regular schedule. I'm also going to focus on staying in line with my target calories and cutting out that nasty junk that keeps sneaking in on me.

I suppose I should introduce myself too. . 

 

I'm 39, married with 2 kids. 

I got my husband to sign up for NF too so fitness has become a family priority.  That has made it so much easier to stay committed to the cause and I am very thankful that the Mr is supportive.

I am crazy busy with a full time job, a part time gig teach Philosophy courses at a local community college, and running my kids around to their various activities.  It was easier over the summer with no activities but now school is back in session - hence to focus on balance on my current challenge.

 

I'm 257 now but was 290 in June when I discovered NF.  I have a tendency to go all in or all out. So I am either gaining or trying to lose as much as possible.  I am trying to learn to go slowly so I can stick it out for the long haul.

Alrighty.

 

So I'm a 26yo Aussie who is currently working a desk job until going back to study next year (I'm going to become a teacher).

At my heaviest I was around 245, I'm now down to 238 (if you follow my thread you'll have to deal with metric measurements).

My BMI ideal is around the 140 mark but hey we all know that stands for Big Massive Inaccruacy.

I was around 190 when I left high school 10years ago.

 

My biggest struggle is my head space and convincing myself that it's worth it when I have bad days.

My biggest motivator is the approaching summer and I want to have lost 2 dress sizes by Christmas.

Hey all!

 

A little about me - I'm 41 and single which does make staying on a food plan easier (but I also have no one but me to blame).  I live in Chicago, and love it here (remind me of that in November), and work from home (which is fabulous).  I've been overweight my whole life, and on diets since I was 16.  I'm a food addict, and sugar makes me crazy and I am in a 12 step program which has worked wonders for me (but I won't preach about it :D ).   My highest weight was 250 in December of 2012, and I'm down to 222 now and would like to see 199 by the end of the year.

 

Looking forward to challenging with everyone!  My challenge is in my signature as well.

I have read all your threads, even the ones I haven't replied to yet and I have to say you ladies are fabulous! I have gotten so much inspiration. My week has been pretty so so. No exercise as I've been trying to get over a cold without getting bronchitis. But I've been really successful at not snacking on the bad stuff. That's a big win for me because that old habit had come back with a vengeance. Now I just need to get around and introduce myself individually on all of your threads!

Hey ladies, mind if I join you? I'm new to this site and starting my challenge a wee bit late (link in my signature) and have a little over 100lbs to lose myself. I'm 24 years old, 5' 4", and 247lbs. I would love to get around 140 and then she-hulk out with some weights.

I love using weights + taking walks, and I'm allergic to cardio hahaha. My weightloss journey has been a rocky one, between periods of eating way too little (dropping 30lbs in a couple weeks) and eating way too much (gaining that amount back plus more shortly afterward) I have finally found a healthy medium of eating ENOUGH and being active.

It's my hope to get under 200lbs by New Year's, but I know I'll have to work for it. I am also majorly looking forward to Emerald City Comicon this next year, being able to walk longer and not be so self-concious to get a celeb photo. :)

Welcome Evenstar! 

 

This is a great challenge for week 2. I have already started working on drinking more water and less soda. This is a great reminder to stay after it! 

 

I finally had a chance to weigh in yesterday. I weighed in at 296.8. I'm really ok with that because the last couple of months I had been pretty lax with my eating habits. Despite that I only gained a few pounds and didn't go back above 300. That tells me that even though I went off my path, what I've learned has stuck with me to some degree.

Alrighty let's keep me accountable!

 

I have an 800ml or 27.1fl.oz bottle of water on my desk, I must finish it at least once each day I'm at work:

W: Tick! (may have had to chug 1/2 of it in the last 15mins of work.... still counts right?)

T: Tick!

F: 1/4 of a tick :/

M: I wasn't at work and I didn't drink much water at all

More than I care to admit....

Ooh good challenge, and relevant to my day hehe. I had this GREAT (sarcasm) idea to reduce my water retention/bloat by doing my workout after a small breakfast and a cup of coffee this morning. No water, not before or during.

BAD IDEA oh man.

I was sweating, great, I felt the workout in my muscles, awesome, but suddenly holy dizzy attack batman. I got so nauseous so fast, I had to just sit and chug water for a bit to recover. And wouldn't you know it, after a half hour of rest and lots of h2o, the dizziness went away. It doesn't take much to get dehydrated, and I will never repeat that mistake again.

I love the idea of keeping track of your water intake Rachy, I think I'll do something similar. I have a 1 liter water bottle that I try to empty twice a day. I'll mark my progress for the week here with x's, one for a full bottle drank, two for my daily goal.
