H'ok.

 

I chose this challenge because, other than the diet portion, I have been keeping up with everything else though I haven't been around the threads. That, and it's minimal anxiety will hopefully get me motivated again to have an AWESOME challenge for next time.

 

 

Last Week:

 

- Did 2 attempts of the 500m row in under 2 min (obstacle for Spartan) Did 1st in 2:06, 2nd in 2:03. SO CLOSE. My short legs are giving me HELL for this one. I did a circuit workout after that included box jumps and burpees.

-Went to TKD class once. Trained and taught. Was a very good class.

-I went on along run (6.5 miler) along with sprint intervals. (mini challenge woot!)

-I did another Spartan-ish workout which included weighted carries (for atlas carry and water jug carry), burpees, and hand release push-ups.

 

 

Diet was crap. Sweets, Ice cream, not too many carbs, but lots of high calorie fats. :(

This Week:

 

 

Before today, I haven't done any "Things" on my list yet. I went on 2 longish hikes in the hills and such, so I haven't been completely immobile. Just doing other things.

 

Also Diet up until Wednesday was horrible. Lots of calories. Lots. Enough to make you blush.

 

Started workouts though.

 

-Yesterday I had a crazy 50 min cardio run that has me DOMSing like the dickens today and probably for a couple after. Not sure if I'm counting that as my "long run" because I didn't quite keep track of the exact distance. Also, I stopped several times because my heart was surely going to explode in my chest and squirt out of my ears.

 

 

-Today did a Spartan-ish circuit workout. Nothing exciting because MY LEGS ARE FULL OF DOMS!!!

 

 

It went kinda like this:

 

3 Rounds of:

 

1 min jump rope

20 weighted walking lunges -10 each leg (2, 10# DBs)

10 Hand Release Push-ups (I kind of snake it up. Because I'm weak)

15 burpees

 

Then 8 Rounds of:

 

1 min weighted punches (2, 3# DBS)

1 min knee blocks with an elbow

 

 

Ended with 2 Suicide Sprints on the basketball courts at my gym. They were laughable.

 

Brain: Commmmmmon legs! It's just over there and touch the line!

Legs: Fuh cue.

Brain: Look! Even shorter distance! Let's TURN IT ON!

Legs: Fa queue!

Brain: Almost Done!! HALF COURT! SPRIIIINT!

Legs: Fuhqueue!!! Imma fall.

 

-Not Too Spartan-y, but I was just trying to keep moving with all my leg DOMS. Upper body felt OK, which is why I did 1 min of punching (4 rounds jabs, 4 rounds uppercuts). I couldn't jump and also so DOMSy that kicking was out. This is why I decided knee blocks (or kick chambers, if you will) were best so I still get core work and just to keep legs loose.

 

LOTS OF STRETCHY TIME.

 

I need to find a way to add wall scales and rope climbs into my Spartan workout because I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IM GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO THESE THINGS!!

Anyroad, I went to TKD class tonight. *crosses off "Things" list*

 

We did Gup Patterns followed by about 6, 2min rounds of sparring with a different partner each time. That took the whole class. I was very disappointed in my lack of gas. :(  That'll teach me to stay away for a while. I may incorporate some interval work into my Spartan or Boxing workouts now. Because. That. Was. Pathetic.

 

 

Started food pyramid part of challenge today and actually did really well. The worst thing I ate was a Pre-Mixed protein drink - which can be kinda bad for you, but no sweets at all. Wasn't even trying either. Just wanted hearty things.

 

The next 3 days will be alllllllllll at work.

Wow, you're doing an awful lot more to prepare for the Spartan than I am. So far I'm focusing on getting lean and getting my running distances up. I think those weighted carries you've started doing are a real blast too, though.
