RxLady
hey long time no update, where you at? I am alive! Thanks for checking in. Everything is going well, I am just crazy busy at work, so by the time i get home, work out, walk the dog, eat, etc, etc, the computer time falls by the wayside. Which, all things considered, is probably how it should be, right? Hey there, nice goals! Keep it up! I like using MFP too, it has been key for me to make my food goals. Well, I can't say I LIKE using MFP, as I am a terrible tracker and a lot of times I find it tedious. But I do find it useful for keeping my calories in check and keeping myself honest on what I eat, and the types of food I eat. Thanks for stopping by! RxLady
Now let's see... what the hell day am I on.... Oh! Day 16! Sorry for the gap in updates. Life has been just crazy busy, but luckily that includes working out and tracking my food. I have been able to keep up with my YAYOG training and I fit in both my yoga sessions for last week. YAYOG - Not really liking weeks 3 and 4 overall. I don't feel like I am doing enough for a workout, even though I am doing my reps and increasing difficulty when necessary. And I know these weeks are about muscle building, but it feels REALLY slow. Looking forward to weeks 5/6 to see what that brings. Yoga has been great. Just a couple of sessions a week leaves me feel nice and stretched out. MFP is going OK. I am admittedly a terrible tracker, but I have managed to track everything thus far, except for last Sunday (which still meets my goal of 6 out of 7 days for the week). Back at it again today. No life goals accomplished yet, although I might tweak it to be one chapter of material and one journal club session, as I have spent time reading an article there and making a powerpoint for presenting/teaching. I think it counts in the "learn more" area.... Plan is for YAYOG later (maybe - if my migraine subsides) or cranking the rest of the sessions out on W/Th/F. We'll see what happens. RxLady
Today is going just ducky. YAYOG completed (Week 4, day 3), pull session today. Felt challenging, and I took my time, did some extra pauses in places. Also have tracked all my calories so far, although I must say my food choices have been pretty bad the past few days. We have someone transferring locations at work, so I was baking and food was about at work for 2 days now and it's a bad situation. Chicken fajitas for dinner tonight tho, so that should be healthy. Also, this week I am substituting one of my yoga sessions for a Barre Code class (yup, I still have to use those up from last challenge) so I will be doing that Saturday morning with some friends before going out for my birthday (it's a week early, but you know, celebrate when you can get everyone in the same room ) Also, mini 3 is hard for adventurers! I apparently am really bad at working protein into my diet (though I try to have some with every meal!) Yesterday I probably hit 75-80 grams when shooting for 120 g daily.... but I'm not surprised with my crappy eating I suppose.. getting back on track, like, now. 1 Level 5 Half-Orc Adventurer STR 13 | DEX 4 | STA 2 | CON 13 | WIS 11 | CHA 8 Try Not. RxLady
Bah! I am so bad about updating on the weekend! But I am still keeping up with my goals, so that's what counts. MFP - completed for the week - missed Tuesday, but that's still within my goal of 6/7. Went over on my calories this weekend celebrating my birthday with friends, but not by too much and got in some workouts before/after the festivities. Yoga - 2/2 sessions for the week. (replaced one session with the Interval class at the Barre code and it was CRAZY hard. So many burpees! My back and calves were KILLIN' me yesterday, and are still sore today) YAYOG - Finished all my sessions for week 4, and now starting week 5 today! I have to get back to preparing food on the weekends for the week to get some healthy options going again. I am doing OK but it could be better. I also need to quit doing the "oh, just a little" when sweet things come my way... My sweet tooth is rearing it's ugly head and I am not being very good about my willpower. I have started drinking more water again instead of eating, and haven't gained weight, but really haven't seem to lost any either. Though, to be honest, I haven't been on the scale since the beginning of the challenge. Still walking a mile or two a day with the dog in addition to my planned workouts. Sometimes I find myself wondering if tracking is helping or harming me... I am one of those with the mentality "well, if I have the calories left, I could probably eat [insert unnecessary snack here]." I did find that when I wasn't tracking it at least seemed like I was eating less. Maybe I have to work on my eating schedule. It just feels like lately it's been everything in sight is fair game! Bah, again. Well, the exercise portion is going well anyway... 2 Level 5 Half-Orc Adventurer STR 13 | DEX 4 | STA 2 | CON 13 | WIS 11 | CHA 8 Try Not. Do, or do not. There is no try. So now, if I eat the wrong thing I'll go too far over on some macro even though I have calories leftover. It helps deter the 'I have calories left for ice cream'. Shello
I'm afraid I'm not really familiar with the term "macro" when it comes to eating? I always think of it as a key command in WoW. Care to share more? I am by no means an expert so if anyone finds anything incorrect about my explanation, please jump in. Disclaimer aside, macro is the amount of protein, carbs, and fat that make up whatever your daily calorie count is. I used the If It Fits Your Macros site (I can't seem to get the link to work) to calculate my daily calories then it you get a recommendation for how many grams of protein, carbs, and fats you should be getting to meet your calories goals. I modified MyFitnessPal to match the recommendation. I've adjusted it a little over time to be more realistic. But even when I am low on calories, I may be over on fats or something so I know the only way to eat more is if the choices have the right combination. I also liked the website as it seemed more reliable in calculating your calories for the day since it asks more questions. Turns out it was pretty close to what MFP recommended. 1 Race: Amazonian Ogre Princess | Class: Ranger | Profession: SuperHero | Affiliation: Doodlie and Pancake for Life Respawn Challenge Arcs: 2021 | 2022 I am not saying I am Wonder Woman. No yoga yet this week - will try to fit some in over the weekend. Tracking is going better - I have put some more energy into making myself track. Unfortunately, today I decided to make treats for work, since tomorrow is my 30th birthday. Decided to go nerdy and make Butterbeer Cupcakes in true Harry Potter style. Good news is, most of the people at work will eat them. Bad news is they are freaking delicious and I will probably have one too. But hey, a little birthday treat is ok methinks. I took pics, but not sure that a health site is the bed venue for posting desserts! I think I need to invest in one of those doorway pull up bars. RxLady
So you will all appreciate that on my actual birthday, after a long week of early shifts, my evening went a bit like this: Came home, walked the dog, finished week 5 of YAYOG (core workout), watched an episode of Criminal Minds while biking on the stationary for 35 minutes, played with Yoga poses for 30+ minutes out of my new yoga book (counts as 1 yoga session for the week), and then fell asleep promptly at 7:45 pm. Talk about an old lady! In my defense I volunteered for an extra shift on Saturday that also started as 0630, so I couldn't have gone out anyway. And I enjoyed all the fitness time that day. Saturday I worked and then did some wine tasting with some family. Drank too much wine again, but over all had a good day. No official workout yesterday - was my day off for the week. Today we are doing some home brewing while watching the Packers game and then will finish up with some Yoga. Sounds like a perfect Sunday to me. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
