Jess Fit's Key to Consistency

JessFit

Recommended Posts

Hello my darling nerds! I started a new job in February that is very demanding, I used to nerd at work at the old job but sticking with checking in during the challenges has gotten harder since the new job. It has been sad, but I miss everyone here to much not to keep coming back. This challenge consistency is the key.

Goal 1: I have fantastic programming that I haven't been sticking with. So from here on out, 3 workouts a week sticking to the numbers laid out in my programming. Starting strength like a boss.

Goal 2: Tracking protein and getting at least 140 grams 4x a week.

Goal 3: No credit card use or saving use (excepting legitimate emergencies, which are why we have these things)

Goal 4: Log on to NF, via a real computer, at least 3x a week for the whole challenge

Extra goals: getting a place set up to volunteer teach yoga for my cert, getting my online shop logo and website designed and tax ID # as well as assumed name taken care of.

Thank you all for your support and smiles, this place holds a very special place in my heart and you are all great people.

OMG Love this.  Love this.   Stealing it.

Also very glad you are going to try and check in despite new job that makes it harder to do so.  (Honest to god, my internet freedoms at my current job are such a large perk to me that I'd have to be offered substantially more elsewhere to give them up!)

Good goals lady!

I still want to hit you up for yoga-ness or something at some point!

New job is a good job, just minimal interwebs time. New job is also throwing my consistency. I used to get out of work at 1 or 3 and I drove so I could gym early.

Now I work 9-5 and use public transport so I don't get home til 6:30 and then to gym I have to go back out :/ so it's not as regular because is just so inconvenient and sometimes when you get home things go crazy and get demanding and you don't always get to go back out. Or else I work late and then it's too late to lift or I won't sleep. Silly schedule.

Maigrey! Hi chi buddy!

Day 2: good on protein, went to the gym after a super extra busy day at work. Due to super extra busy day I didn't get to eat very much and skipped lunch all together. Therefore I missed most of my lifts :( my body is very dependent on sleep and food I guess, how silly is that?

Question: does anyone have a good tasting beef jerky to recommend? Also, any other great ways to get protein in? I feel like I'm eating a lot and still falling short. Maybe next paycheck I will buy a protein powder cook book. Since yesterday all of this awsome was delivered to my house 9ezejaqe.jpg

Btw optimum nutrition's new cinnamon graham cracker flavored whey is amazing!

Other question: has anyone tried oil pulling? My allergies are getting worse and they say it helps with that along with a host of other issues so I tried it for the first time this morning. When I thought about I I wanted to gag, when I wasn't thinking about it and just getting ready it was very soothing.

Find a good butcher.  They will usually have the best jerky.  Usually more expensive than the pre-bagged stuff in the stores, but very tasty.

Jack Links Turkey Jerky is pretty darn good. And it's affordable, and does have a ton of sugar added like most brands. It's my go to on store bought.

As for protein intake, these are my suggestions.

1). Spread it out. It really sucks trying to eat 80g of protein or more in one sitting. Not to mention studies show that you aren't able to maximize the use of that protein during that time. 60g is about as high as you want to go at one time. My suggestions are: A) a protein shake with two scoops, that's at least 40g right there. B)Eat your breakfast. Make sure to get 20-40g here. C). Greek Yogurt 11-13g per 100g serving.

2). Baking with protein is tough. Doable, but I've found you don't get as much as you would think. I prefer to drink extra protein needs because it's easy. I think protein pancakes made mainly with protein powder and egg whites are the only baking thing I'd do. I tried doing brownies this weekend. I'm only getting 6g out of a 240cal serving. NOT worth it.

3). Eggs are awesome.

See my MFP, as I currently bumped it up calorically to maintenance numbers (hopefully) and I'm shooting for 184g per week. Should give you an idea of how to get to 140g.

As for Optimum Nutrition, I really like their Natural Whey protein. It's very nearly the perfect protein. I order through TrueNutrition now do make custom blends.

Eggs are awsome! Eggs and Greek yogurt are a large part of my daily breakfast. I'm also relying on 2, 2 scoop protein shakes a day and sometimes Falling short of my Goal only because it seems like to get 140g of Protein means sacrificing every other food group.

I've never done protein pancakes although I do mix it in to oatmeal, and I will check out that jerky. Thanks so much Alex!

Ok so mon, tues, wed. Nailed the protein. Thursday had a bit of an emotional roller coaster and fell 30 grams short :( gonna kick Friday in the tushy though!

Had a headache last night and slept instead of gym, will do that tonight. I love the gym on Fridays because all the douches are busy being douchy at the bar and the gym is empty.

Logged on to NF from a real computer twice, and had nothing to add since I had covered it on my phone already. Although this weekend I'm going to spend some time finding the challenges of people I used to stalk, I mean, encourage.

Also doing pretty solid on the $ front. Transferred a couple of dollars out of savings, but I won't let that happen again!

Have a great weekend all!

How about making some egg dishes, like the egg muffins or mini-frittatas?  These buffalo chicken ones are ridiculously good.  Plus, you have extra protein from the chicken and they keep for a week in the fridge if you make a big batch.

Tuna + hard boiled eggs are great.  Tuna packets are easy to find, as is salmon these days.  Or perhaps make up a batch of mini-sliders from ground beef and take those along?

I make my own jerky since it's too hard to find stuff without a ton of sugar and soy.  You can make it slow and low in the oven.  This is a good recipe.

I may have to try those buffalo chicken ones. I usually make egg cups for breakfast, cook them on Sunday and eat them all week!

This weekend I was in a dodgeball tournament. I think I did pretty good considering I haven't played dodgeball since about the 3rd grade.

Yesterday lifted and it was awful. Missed every single

Lift :( but I'm doing good on the monies right now and the keeping involved on NF. I'm going to be out of town the next two weekends so here is to hoping that I can stay ok with monies and workouts.

Also, got my protein yesterday! Yay

Good job on the money goal.  I always find that when I declare to the universe that I'm saving money, 100 awesome things parade before my eyes tempting me to buy them.

Warning: Stupid question incoming!
