I hit up the 5:30 session of NP this morning.  It was our first cold morning - 28Ëš here.  It was also so dark that when a friend asked me and another guy if we knew each other, neither of us really knew.  So, we hugged, and I asked his name.  After the workout, I saw them talking again and just started laughing.  We already knew each other.  It was just so freaking dark, and he was so bundled, I had no idea who he was.

Last couple of days have been light.  Easy 5ish miles yesterday morning.  Casual full tour with fire drills & a few good conversations this morning.

have you done it?

Nope. Just thought it sounded super cool. I did look at the website, and it sounded like a *really* local thing...as in mostly geared toward people who were associated with the school in some way.

Awesome!!

Yep, we are starting to have some frosty mornings. I skipped today, so I think tomorrow will be my coldest so far.

Pretty swag.

It was cooler when the bell rang...

Seriously.  The medals all rang.  We were walking through the city ringing our accomplishments out with the sounds of our little bells.

But, my clapper fell out.

I have a broken liberty bell.  :(

Seriously impressive medal. I'm not even sure what to do with all mine and they're pretty plain and boring. What do you do with all of these?!

I haven't done anything with them yet, either.  However, I'm going to hang them in my home office.  Working that out now.  I'll post some pics once I get it up.  (phrasing)

I started this reply ages ago and never hit post.  In the meantime, look at the idea that Brooks posted today!

I'm going to go fully public with this in the next few days... But, I'll give you three or four people the sneak peak.

I've set a goal that scares the shit out of me.

On May 1, 2016, I'm going to race my first marathon.

And, I'm doing it for the sole purpose of qualifying for the 2017 Boston Marathon.

#RoadToTheBQ starts... now.  (Well, it's kind of already started - but you know you what I mean.)

Yeah, tell us where you're going and whether motivational ass slaps can be provided.

LOVE IT!!

Which May marathon??

Motivational ass slaps are ALWAYS welcome.

Currently looking like I am going to hit the following target races:

2.28.16 - Hyannis Half Marathon - hoping to go sub 1:30 here.

Then, on 3.26.16 I'm going to run from Maine to Massachusetts!  WHAT?!  Eastern States 20 Miler.

Culminating on 5.1.16 with the Providence Marathon.  I need to run a 3:15 to qualify.  But, because of the number of qualifiers, the time is usually adjusted by up to two minutes to actually obtain a bib to run Boston.  So, my goal time will actually be 3:10.  That means an average of 7:15 pace for 26.2 miles.  My time in the Philly half averaged out to a 7:12 pace.  (I was actually running a 7:05 pace most of the time  - but stops to pee, drink, etc cost me a bit.)  So, essentially I need to maintain that pace for another 13.1 miles.  Yikes!

I chose Providence partially because it is 2 weeks after Boston.  So, there should be no shortage of training partners for those long runs.  Also, because it is local and I don't have to travel concerns to worry about. It is relatively flat. (Probably a little hillier than the New Jersey Marathon which is run the same day. But, c'est la vie.) And, partially because the Half Marathon run the same day was my first half ever... and kind of jump started Version 2 of my running career.  So, it will be good to go back to the scene of the crime.

I've teamed up with a coach who will be guiding me in my first REAL training program since college.  Hint: a really freaking long time ago.  New training program will be starting on Sunday.  I'm excited.  I'm nervous. But, I'm going to fucking do this.

Wow. And amazing. You are on a tear, between the UltraBeast and now this. Crossing off bucket list items with a vengeance. (and hopefully not any other reason)

I've looked at the times for this as well. We have the same BQ. (not surprising) And I'm a long way from it, but you ... you're pretty much right on its doorstep. This should be awesome.

I think I know the race you're after.  I'm hitting the rhode for a marathon that day myself.  It's my first as well.

I doubt I'll qualify for the Boston race, but I think I might manage to flirt with a 3:30 time.
