I had read your challenge before but I hadn't written anything. It sounds like you have a lot to think about concerning your past/current health issues, but I'm sure you'll do great. It's inspiring to see someone take charge though, you know? I'm also super interested in Paleo, I'm a biological anthropology student so I study this kind of stuff anyways, I've just never tried it out.

Thanks for your support :) there was a point where it seemed health issues would never stop piling up, even though they're all minor chronic issues I really felt hopeless at some point. Having my thyroid disease diagnosed and treated helped so much, I just have to be careful and keep in mind my health is fragile - for now ^_^

 

For tonight, I am planning a sweet potato & chicken curry to celebrate Autumn. I'll try to remember to take a pic :)

Week 2 update!

I did my Tibetan yoga both yesterday and today afternoon, I can feel more immediate relief in the morning so I'll get back to that as of tomorrow.

 

Today, I used the yoga as warm up + 1 minute of jumping jacks and DID MY BODY WEIGHT WORKOUT ! Yesss!

Those push ups are still kicking my ass, but I must have become crazy because I like it :D

 

Now that I have stretched everything (yes, everything!) and replenished my hydration levels, I am going grocery shopping briefly for tonight's Autumn celebration.

YOU ARE DOING AWESOME. If I had fancy chocolate sprinkles to spread on toast (even GF toast, man) I'd have such a hard time holding back. I'd try to reason with myself for why I could eat them, when overall... should probably skip it. xD That curry does sound amazing... two words for you and how you're doing?

Thank you!! I'm still doing 7 repetitions, I'm thinking of increasing next week if it gets really easy by the end of the week :) I did the yoga upon rising this morning and it was great! So much better than in the afternoon!

Mini mid-week report!

 

So far, everything is going well and I have a surprise for you all, I did it my paleo day today!! :D

I had a ton of left overs from the previous days, so there was a lot of paleo tupperware to finish (we often eat paleo without really thinking about it, we just really like veggies ^_^). I did drink a cup of almond milk with honey, and realised later that almond milk is probably not 100% paleo so I don't know if it fails my paleo day or not... for now I consider it a pass!

I replaced the curry sauce with simple curry spices and added cumin (hate those prepared sauces, always too fat).

It wasn't that great a recipe, so here are my tips if you want to try it: today I added quite a bit of extra oil (there's no such thing as too much olive oil) and water and cooked it for another 15-20 minute while systematically cutting the sweet potato pieces into really tiny pieces (which resulted in smashing half of them completely). I added salt again and two handfuls of baby spinach 1 minute before serving. It was delicioussss! (didn't taste like dessert & main course together at all Calla ;))

Not sure how to post a picture so you'll just have to imagine a warming gooey version of the picture from the recipe ^_^

Almond milk is paleo :P even I drink the sweetened stuff and consider it paleo.  You gotta give yourself some relaxation with it or you'll drive yourself crazy.

There are a few :D  Generally I use this one which I basically have memorized, and just adjust what the recipe calls for with what I have available.  It's a pain in the ass to get coconut and tapioca flour here, but almond flour is pretty plentiful and there isn't MUCH of a taste difference at all.

Love your challenge and LOVE Sailor Moon. I used to be (still am, who are we kidding) a big Sailor Pluto fan. Always jealous of that hair.

Also, paleomg is a god of a website for recipes.  Especially for paleo baked goods.  Omnomnom.

So does the Civilized Caveman. He has some of the best food recipes and I love his attitude and what he's overcome. :)

I know i'm a little late to the party but read your quest and saw the druid tag.  I too enjoy yoga, though i've never practiced much.  The idea of it intrigues me very much.  I have been in need of more people to follow and assist in their challenges and as i said, i loved your quest.
