Nightcrawler_Bamff's Flight

Wolverine-and-the-X-men-Kurt-nightcrawle

Story:

Having defeated and accidentally killed his brother, saving the nearby village from Stephan's killing spree, Kurt is not given the opportunity to fully comprehend what had happened, let alone to grieve.  The villagers, seeing a "demon" fighting and killing a human, assume Nightcrawler was responsible for the recent string of murders.  Nighcrawler looks up from his brother's lifeless body to discover a mob forming, wielding torches and farming tools as weapons heading quickly his direction, shouting something about a demon.  Kurt knows they are after him and he will not be given the opportunity to defend himself.  His only option is to run!

This challenge will be centered around running!  This was my normal workout before I discovered gymnastics.  Has definitely been a while and I'm excited to start again!

Main Quest:

Move my round off-back handspring-back tuck and the aerial from the tumble track trampoline onto the floor.  Not running related, but the running will (hopefully) build speed and endurance for gymnastics stuff!

Missions:

1.  Run!  Daily except gymnastics days and Sundays (rest day).

2.  Splits!  Continue working splits daily, twice daily on days off.

3.  Food!  No movie theater popcorn.  Tried this goal out last challenge and was very successful (and difficult!).

Life goals:

SO MUCH HAPPENING DURING THIS CHALLENGE!

1.  Finish NIghtcrawler costume and touch up my old Gambit costume I'll be lending a friend for comic con.

2.  HAVE A BLAST AT ROSE CITY COMIC CON!!!

3.  Make a mythical woodland creature costume for a friend's themed birthday/house warming party October 4th.  Wont have time for anything extravagant...still not sure what to do.  I'll have to do some research into what I will be able to pull off with this short amount of time.

4.  Make a three tiered cake for a friend's baby shower on October 5th...the day after the costume party!  She wants me to replicate a cake she found on Pinterest...should be simple enough:

5.  Figure out a Halloween costume and start working on that.

And I thought I was busy last challenge!!!

Ok...so I'm late posting again...I did actually have the challenge planned out and started working on it on Monday though!

Monday:  Ran 2.5 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill before work...ended up walking the last ten minutes because my knee started bothering me...

Tuesday:  Did not run...knee was still bothering me and wanted to let it heal

Wednesday:  Knee feels fine!  Gymnastics today and got to work on floor stuff!  Woo!  Aerial felt close on the floor!!!  and several round off-back handspring-back tucks on the tumble track.  Attempted some back handsprings on the floor, but wasn't feeling them today so didn't get further than the round off.

Tomorrow:  Will be another running day.  Plan to run outside (weather permitting) first thing when I get up.  A friend is coming over when I am done/ready to attach the red "V" to my black body suit...and my Nightcrawler costume will be FINISHED!!!!  Finally!!!

Yay! Glad you are close to finishing up your costume! Also, Comic-Con + theme party + Halloween = THREE COSTUMES for this challenge? Ambitious! I can't even decide on any for Halloween yet. ;)

Excited for those aerials to move to floor.

Yes three costumes is a lot!! The other two will not be nearly as involved as this one...but still not sure what I'm gonna do for them!

Looks awesome! Love how the cuffs turned out on the boots + gloves. Also very convincing double sword pose, haha.

Thanks! Me too! I'm actually quite impressed with myself for the whole dang thing!!

Looking great! :encouragement:

Have fun at the con! :)

Thanks! I'm really excited! Checking in at the hotel tomorrow and getting dressed for the pre-comic con party (while having a few pre-gaming drinks!!)

Quick update:

Thursday: 3 miles in 34 minutes, plus cool down. Forgot to do second stretch set because of trying to get things done then was with friends until late.

Friday: 3.23 miles in 32 minutes outside! Weather was perfect! Running outside is definitely more physically difficult, but much easier mentally. May not be able to get stretching in this weekend because of the con, but I will see what I can squeeze in!!

Week 1 review:

Comic con is over! Had a blast! Now queue post con depression haha!

Friday: picked up a friend, got mixers and snacks and checked into the hotel! Immediately started getting ready because it takes FOREVER to get the face paint and everything on!! Walked 1.5 miles to the kick off party with free food and beer. Not much else going on there...there was a prize wheel to spin that we stood in line for an hour to do and we're finally getting fairly close and they ran out of prizes haha...so we went back to the hotel, ordered pizza, and started drinking (after changing out of costume)! There were six of us in the hotel that night!

Saturday: planned to get up early for a run...but really hard to do when everyone was up until about 4am partying, chatting, and laughing! Did not get a run in, nor did I stretch. There just wasn't enough time! I am 100% ok with that though...planned for the weekend to be off plan, but would try to work stuff in if possible. Walked around the convention from 10:00am to 8:00pm, then after party, then more drinking and pizza in the hotel! Definitely did a couple handstands and some one handed cartwheels while dressed up! No good pics of them though :(

Sunday: had to get costume on, cars loaded, and checked out of the hotel before we could head over. More walking around from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Lots of crouching into a low lunge, hold it for picks, then stand up all weekend!! So much fun!!

Need to go through people's pics to find some good ones, but here are a few!

Whoops! Forgot the week review part!

Run: 3/5 due to knee problems after run #1 and comic con on Saturday.

Splits: 5/11 sets of stretching, again because of comic con

No popcorn: no temptation because of comic con! Had too much to do to even contemplate sitting in a movie!

Though the numbers don't show it, I see the week as a success! I knew going in I wouldn't be able to get the stretching in and would likely not be able to fit in the run and am completely fine with prioritizing partying and having fun with friends over my exercise goals for this weekend. Back on track now, though feet still hurt from walking around so much, so going to utilize the pool in my apartment instead of running today!

Thanks! Had a blast! Quite happy with how it turned out! Gloves and boots may not have made it through the weekend though...hard to keep the fabric white! I think I can clean up the red "v" so hopefully it's just the gloves and boots I'll need to redo next time I choose to wear it...which will likely be a while...takes far too long to apply the face paint haha

Your costume looks amazing!!! Glad you had a good time!

And it looks like you had a great first week! Keep it up!

Thanks you two!! Definitely worked hard on it and I'm really happy with how it turned out! Which is really saying something! I'm usually the first to point out flaws in things I do!

Way off plan yesterday! Stayed within Weight Watchers points (which is not part of the challenge haha), but did not run due to not getting enough sleep to do it before work (7am-7pm work day) and didn't stretch because I was exhausted and went to bed early :(

Today was gymnastics! Woo!! FIRST TIME EVER (on tumble track)!!: round off-TWO back handsprings-back tuck!! So exciting! Also landed several of those with only one handspring and coach said 2-3 more weeks on tumble track to make sure they are consistent then we'll move them to the floor!!!!!!

Awesome!!! Is the tumble track a practice area?

It's a long skinny trampoline with a mat at the end. Great for leaning tumbling skills!

Congrats on the bh+bh+tucks! A friend of mine insists they are easier when you have less space on the floor, so maybe something to keep in mind when you start transitioning those tumbling passes to the floor.

And hey, sometimes you need rest -- especially with long work days!

So joked about getting started on my costume for the next con...then realized there is less time between now and then (January is Wizard World Portland) than I spent working on this one! I do actually need to get started haha!

Next will be overhauling/remaking my Gambit costume (Gambit in those pictures above was my first attempt at a costume a couple years ago for Halloween. Friend borrowed it for the convention).

Got stuff for costume party today...gonna do some sort of weird humanoid bear creature (I was getting desperate haha). Won't take much work, so should be able to get that done pretty soon...not much seeing needed, no props to make!
