Hi Everybody,

Its been a long time since I have posted a challenge here for myself, but I recently started using a food service that reminded me of Nuala.  So I dropped in to say thanks to her, and it made me want to rejoin the rebellion.

Current Stats:
Name: Kyliewyotie
Age: 31
Height: 5'9
Weight: 211lbs
Profession: Engineer at a Power plant

Main Quest:
-Rebuild my lost healthy habits.

Background:

I took place in 7 challenges here at nerd fitness, 1 as an adventurer, and 6 as an assassin. During those I made ,huge progress in my strength, flexibility, stamina, even tweaked a few life items for the better. I went from 225lbs to 183, I was eating mostly paleo, tracking calories, and exercising on a regular basis. I felt great, physically, and it helped to push me to try new things, and many things i used to be afraid to do.

I slowly stopped checking nerd fitness, I stopped taking my vitamins, I stated to allow more cheat days, I started to skip exercise days, I started taking the elevator at work. I slowly started to unravel all the healthy habits I had put in place.

The effect of this is that I weigh 211lbs, can't wear my size 34 clothes, I am shying away from physical activities because I am out of shape, and generally feel like crap. I am honestly embarrassed, and don't like it.

I have made a comeback attempt once before, but it only lasted for about month, until I allowed myself to fall into the same routine again.  But like Wile E Coyote, I wont give up.

TL:DR - Got fat, Hate it, Want to change it.

I am aiming to rebuild my healthy habits so the goals I have for this challenge are meant to rebuild my habits.

Goals:

-Strength train 3 times a week, this will be a mix of weights and body weight. ( I will be doing a preliminary work out today to find where i stand after my slacking.)

-Eat right! I signed up for a food service that delivers me portioned quality (paleo) food, I will be eating that for lunch and dinner. I skip breakfast.

-Take my vitamins, Doc said I should.  It also serves as the first step in a healthy direction for the day.

Life Goal:

-Keeping with the theme of building good habits, I will be making and tracking a budget.  I have never really had issues with debt or money problem, but I can always be wiser about where I spend.  I will be using a app for this and it syncs with my wife's phone so we can see how were doing as a family.

My motivation:

Started purely based on vane reasons, I recently attended a shooting competition and a professional photographer was there.  When I got the images from him I was embarrassed by my gut.  I have noticed that I feel worse, do less outside activities, don't fit in some of my clothes, but seeing the picture really smacked me in the face.

I have a plan, now to make it happen

I'm glad to be back, and look forward to meeting all the wonderful Assassins.

I know I started in the middle of this challenge, but I felt it important to get the ball rolling instead of waiting.

Anyway my first day went well (still riding the hooray for being healthy high.)

Took my vitamins, ate the right food (very pleased with the meal plan,) and got my strength training in.

I do a mix of strong lifts and body weight circuit.

SL suggested I deload since it has been so long, which makes sense.  I have gotten weaker, and I don't want to hurt my self.

So I did barbell squats with 75lbs 5X5

Bench 105lb 5X5

Barbell Row 65lb 5X5

Then my circuit, done immediately one after after each other with a 1 min break between cycles.

Bulgarian split squats 5 Each leg

Push ups 5

Pull ups 4 (surprised that stayed that high)

Leg lifts 5

30 jumping jacks

I will most likely up the push ups and leg lifts and maybe the split squats, they all felt fairly easy.  I just didn't want to push myself to hard on day 1.

I did a short warm up to start, and some shoulder mobility work.  It helps me grab the barbell in squats.

Off to rock day 2, Hope you all have wonderful day!

P.S.  I tried to find my old stats, but I couldn't.  However they would be wrong now anyway.  Level decay? I know my str and dex surely have.

Anyway I will figure out something to stick in a signature later.

So far so good.

Food has been 100%

Vitamins are a go

and I did my second preliminary work out (has some different exercises, so I needed to gauge where i was at with them.)

I up squats by 5lb so 80 lb 5x5

over head press (barbell) 55lb 5x5

deadlift 120lb 5x5

The strong lift program ( i know really more of warrior junk) has you up the weight with each workout so I will follow that.

I also continued my circuit training after

I did my BSS

Push Ups

pull ups

leg lifts

I also play ingress, and did a load of walking.  My phone counts my steps and I was in to 9k range.

As a side note I want to share a picture of my food service so it is a little clearer.

It comes in the morning in a cooler bag with some frozen blocks.

I put it in the microwave for 1.5 mins and blam I got yummy (really is) food, that is proportioned, and well in a range of calories that will make me lose weight. the meals vary (when I cook I eat the same thing very often,) also saves me time since I don't really prepare food anymore.

I basically outsourced my food, and I am loving it.  I have switched to their paleo meals starting next week, currently I am on using their traditional plan that is a lean meat, green veggie, and complex carb.

Each meal is between 500-600 calories, and I eat 2 apples a day, and sometimes a frozen banana dipped in dark chocolate for desert. My calorie intake averages around 1600.

And yeah there is a diet mt dew in there, it is my "coffee" and not willing to give it up yet...

Here is a picture of the nutrition label.

Hey everybody,

I had a great week.

I was 100 percent on all my goals.

Vitamins check, eat my planned meals check, get my 3 str training sessions in check.

The budget program has been working out well, really makes me say do I really need this (insert strange item.)

Eating well, and working out has the amazing side effect of giving me more energy and making me more productive.

So I managed to knock a bunch of stuff off my to do list.

clean the garage, organize my closet, clean my gear from my latest trip, and hang pictures, etc.  It was addictive to check items off my list.

My wife and I wanted some "nice art" since we have started hosting family gatherings and  get together's for our group of friends. But being the nerds we are we found some nice comic book/starwars type stuff that we love.

Also in this shot is my ninja hound Izzy.

Its nice to feel motivated, energetic, and productive.  I am glad I a part of the NF community again.

Thank you everyone.

Welcome back! Those are great prints. And I demand more dog pics! <3

Letting things slide is so easy and natural, especially once it feels a bit like a treadmill you can never get off sometimes... I hope this week is as good as the last!

You did so well before, I'm sure you'll be awesome now. :) "Funny" to see how easily we can fall off the wagon, I had to force myself to make a thread each challenge (ok sometimes reaaaaaly late) even if I knew that I wouldn't update it much just to.. I dunno.. keep in mind that I'm still here and have to work out somehow.

Ok so its past halfway this week.

Here is my update.

Vitamins are check, this was a simple goal so I expected it to go well.  I wanted to point my feet in the right direction and start taking steps towards rebuilding my healthy habits.  It seems to be working.

My strength training is going great, I have been able to increase weight/intensity for each exercise, and I look forward to getting the sessions in.

My food has been good, I did have a slight failure yesterday.  I was stuck in a meeting which ran late, so they ordered food (unhealthy of course) so I refrained from eating.  But the meeting just wouldn't end, so I couldn't get to my food, so after a while I broke.  I did limit the damage I ended up having half a turkey sandwich.  Which isn't horrible on its own.  I then ate my food later so all in all not a bad showing I think.

So I made it through another work lunch, aka pig out fest.

I eat my food, and feel satisfied.

Some people even made comments on how healthy I was eating, and how they need to start that again.

My spaghetti squash got lots of love.

Each time I make the right choice it hep to keep building my healthy habits, which is the overall goal for me this challenge, so that's cool.

Anyway was cruising the chive and found these images made me laugh.

How my coworkers look when eating (except a lot less attractive)

And to be honest how I felt at times.

You are so right, pointing in the right direction and inching your way there is gonna last so much longer than a big leap to health.

This week good, not great.

Strength training was awesome!  I have increased weight/ intensity for each exercise consistently and this continued this week again.

I am progressing faster than I expected, the muscles are getting back  to where they used to be.

Vitamins are a go! still using an alarm on my phone as a reminder, but 90% of the time I have taken them before I get the reminder so that rocks.

Food, well this is where the not great part comes in. My wife and I had decided to have pizza and icecream over the weekend.  While having cheat day wasn't in the plan for this challenge, I made the conscious decision that it would be ok.  I know my calorie intake for the week is till in deficit.  So, bad for goal, not a deal breaker for my overall goal.

I haven't said much about my budgeting goal, it has been going well.  I have input everything I purchased  and have said no to a few things because I didn't really need them.  My goal isn't to deny myself things as much as it is to really think about where my money is going.  Similar to my calories tracking them for almost a year allows me to know better what everything I put in my mouth contains etc.  I hope to get the same idea of my money.  So far so good.

Anyway its Monday and I needed a kick in the butt so I found some bulldog .gifs.  Life is ruff but dogs make it better

wrap up.

Vitamins were 100%

Str training was 100% (and my ability to quickly raise weight was great.)

good I had 4 times where I felt like I didn't keep with the spirit of this goal.  But 4 meals out of (3 a day X 7 days a week X 5 weeks = 105)  thats like roughly a 96% success.

So I am very happy with this outcome.

I lost 9 lbs, in 5 weeks.

I fell better, more energy, healthier, and with less pains and aches.

I made steps towards re-instilling healthy habits which i let fade away, I fell that this challenge was a great success towards getting those back.

See you guys next time.
