Chris2Brooks (C1) - Dream less, do more, gain more

Hi all,

 

 

Here's my first challenge in the Rebellion. Been a member for some time, but decided I need to dream and read less and start commiting to some form of change.

 

Rebellion member [Jakkals] gave me some great advice to start off slow and I'm following that advise:

 

 

 

Main Quest

  • Lose the smallish beer belly/ pot belly and increase general health and wellness

​Although skinny, tall and quite fit due to bi-weekly action netball I'm not very pleased with the slight beer belly and my lack of energy and drive.

 

My SMART Fitness quest

  • Drink at least 2 liters of water daily

I'll give myself the following points: 2ltrs: 4 | 1.5ltrs: 3 | 1ltrs: 2 | 0.5ltrs: 1

  • No sugar in my coffee

​I'm a coffeeholic and drink a tremendous amount of coffee. The water intake should balance this out, but the sugar is the enemy here. I don't drink milk so that's not an issue for me. I drink only one teaspoon of sugar, but want to cut this out. Thanks to Tim Ferris black bitter coffee can be flavored with cinnamon and Vanilla essence, which I both love.

 

I'll give myself the following points based on percentage of cups drank per day without sugar: 100%: 4 | 75%: 3 | 50%: 2 | 25%: 1

 

  • Go to the gym everyday (Sundays excluded)
    • ​Foam roll everyday
    • Stretch
    • Pilates Exercise

​​The above program is as set out by my Biokineticist. I'll give myself the following points: 1 point for each item done per day (Max 3 points)

​I recently committed to a Live Your Legend Blog Starting Challenge. Points: 1 Posts: 1 Point | 2 Posts: 2 Points

 

  • Finish a proposal for a Grammy winning producer

​I recently got an opportunity to draft a proposal and video for a multiple Grammy winning producer. Need to send him proposal ASAP.

I'm not allocating myself points for this. This shit is way to important to measure with points. NEEDS TO BE DONE.

 

  • Continue to make my bed daily

​This is an extremely bad habit I'm currently working on. Running a three week streak so far.  

Points: 1 Point for each day of the week (Max: 7 per week)

 

  • Post daily progress on Nerd Fitness Rebellion

Points: 1 Point for each day of the week (Max: 7 per week)

 

 

Challenge Conclusion:

 

Based on the amount of days left in the challenge and my requirement set out above. I can get a Maximum of 161 POINTS

I will deem the challenge successful if I score 70% or higher. Hence I need to achieve at least: 112.7 POINTS  :numbness:  Let's make that 113

This is super well done and organized. Next time I make a challenge I am going to refer back to this. What is a foam roll and also where do you get those essence things? They sound awesome and I drink way too much Starbucks. Congrats on posting!

 

Thanks Erika. Happy you like the format.  :nevreness: A foam roller is a high density round sponge, which you use for self massage. Deep tissue massage. It helps with lactic acid build up and releases tension in the muscles. Gift from God if you ask me. I feel amazing after every roll. Looks like this: (Have some great pins on my Pinterest Fitness board about foam rolling. And they're actually quite cheap, but I use the gym's rollers. The Vanilla essence you can get from any grocery store. It's in the baking aisles. Hint: just use a drop of two per cup, and if you choose the cinnamon, just a dash.

Daily Challenge Update

 

My SMART Fitness quest

  • Drink at least 2 liters of water daily

Success! Exactly 2 liters. Was quite easy, although it was a very hot day here. One liter was during the day and the other liter when I went for netball practice.

Points: 4

 

  • No sugar in my coffee

This one was a bit harder. Mostly because I forget not to put sugar in the cup. Had surprisingly few cups of java today. Only 5 - of which 2 was without sugar. One cinnamon and one Vanilla essence. I can get used to the vanilla and cinnamon in the coffee. Tastes surprisingly good.

Points: 1

 

  • Go to the gym everyday (Sundays excluded)
    • ​Foam roll everyday
    • Stretch
    • Pilates Exercise

Didn't go to the gym because I went for netball practice, we did one serious Crossfit fitness program and will most likely not walk tomorrow. Not giving myself any points though as I didn't factor this in as part of the rules and I'm not bending the rules to suit my needs.

Overall a good day. Should focus harder on the coffee tomorrow. Playing a netball match tomorrow night, but I'll go to the gym in the afternoon. Looking forward to Day 2.

That foam thing looks really interesting, and thank you for the heads up on the essence stuff (I spent 20 dollars today on Starbucks today, not proud of it) Hey! It's a start. I personally would count the netball practice, but I get not wanting to bend the rules. Way to go for pushing yourself to be accountable, speaking of which. :) Maybe you could write a note to yourself somewhere obvious for the sugar in your coffee? It might be easier to remember.

Good luck tomorrow. Remember 50% isn't a 0% and every kid knows one 50% doesn't mean you fail the class, so keep pushing!

Don't beat yourself up about the Starbucks, if we had Starbucks in South Africa I would be in your shoes too. We do have Seattle Coffee, but they are luckily far and few.

Daily Challenge Update

Woke up with one hectic headache - felt like I was hungover. Not sure if it was the hectic Crossfit routine yesterday, sugar cravings or high protein lunch. Perhaps just a regular old headache. But surpassed after two pain killers. 

 

My SMART Fitness quest

  • Drink at least 2 liters of water daily

Success! Bit harder than yesterday but done

Points: 4

 

  • No sugar in my coffee

Much easier today. Eleven cups of coffee today. 4 With sugar (of which only two were due to cravings, other two made by people who didn't know I'm cutting down). 7 without sugar. This is really easier than I thought it would be.

  • Go to the gym everyday (Sundays excluded)

Was asked to play two games of Netball today. One Fast 5 (half an hour more action packed version of Action Netball) and one regular action netball game.

Points: 0

Nope but ErikaisEpic accidentally gave me an idea for one. Writing it tomorrow. With her permission of course.

Challenge Conclusion:

Got Pilates with my Bio tomorrow, so will definitely be at the gym - however I'm not feeling guilty for missing it due to netball. Ready for Day 3.

Points today: 8 out of max 14 - Giving me an average of 57% (Slight improvement on yesterday)

 

I'm starting to realize that the sugar, gym and water challenges are very important to reach.
